Ulduar came up in the comments last week. Since Ulduar is a classic machinima and a strong staff favorite, it's completely worth another visit. Ulduar is performed by Summergale and Cranius, while the video was created by the infinitely amazing Legs.
Ulduar is the story of star-crossed lovers. Cranius portrays the role of a PvP player who feels out of place in raids. Summergale, by comparison, is an experienced raider who is bored with contemporary content. There's just not much to be done until Ulduar is released. Like many star-crossed lovers, the two characters have nothing to do but sing to one another about the predicament.
Like many of the best machinima, Ulduar has stood the test of time, even though the World of Warcraft itself has moved on. The vocal performances and animation quality are so well done that the final work feels just as relevant now as it ever did. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
Ahhhhhhh Cranius and Legs... I watch them all over and over again. Heck I didn't even do the Darrowshire questline until I saw his video. His videos rock.. (even bought his album on Amazon)
By far the best raid movie I've ever seen; makes me incredibly nostalgic for Ulduar.
While we're on the subject, does anybody know of any other raid movies in the same vein as this one, more "artistic raid tribute" than actual boss kill video?
There is a ICC raid movie, not sure if it is made by defiance (i don't remember) but is very good. It tells the story of ICC (with arthas' betrayal up to his demise, with some Halls of reflection lore with it)
Try reading up on why the video was made. He wasn't trying to become the new Nyhm. This was a 1-time deal, that was brought on by a setup through a fan of both of these VERY talented people. The story of "why" is almost as awesome as the video itself.
I LOVE Cranius and Summergale in this song and have since its release! Speaking of BEST machinima to stand the test of time, dont forget BaronSoosdon's Im So Sick! OMG, the BEST EVERRRR! Hope you highlight it soon. http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=47383
This song really set the tone for my first forays into what I've come to believe was Blizzard's best raid instance in the entire game. (Zul'Gurub will always hold a special place in my heart, being the first raid I ever attempted back in Vanilla.) We cleared the first four bosses during the first week, before many of the nerfs made them "easymode". Ulduar was truly one of Blizzard's shining moments, and nothing has really felt the same since then. Perhaps this song helped build it up in my mind, but I really do think Blizzard hit the nail on the head with Ulduar.

Ugg blood elf rap

Agreed. I understand that people really like these and other music videos, but I love the comedic, non-singing ones the best.

This IS NOT Blood Elf Rap!

The voice acting is at least better than the past 10 or so moviewatches, excepting maybe Cloud 9.

Seriously one of the better produced parody songs out there.

Watching this only makes me miss and their fantastic Ulduar movies. What great machinima in WoW's greatest raid.

"A thousand deaths ... or one murder. Your petty quarrels only make me stronger."
"I am the lucid dream. The monster in your nightmares. The fiend of a thousand faces. Cower before my true form! BOW DOWN BEFORE THE GOD OF DEATH!"
Still, quite simply, the best bit of voice-acting in the entire game. Ever.

Shoot, that should have read:
"Watching this only makes me miss Defiance and their fantastic Ulduar movies."

You should see that easily on Youtube

Blizzard should get the vocalist to perform at Blizzcon.
Eldoron Jan 25th 2011 12:37PM
IMHO Cranius is better in his original style and he shouldn't be the new Nyhm
