Having an offensive dispeller in your group can help a lot with that issue. On my shaman, when he casts Elementium Bulwark, I watch my party frames and as soon as all the casters/healer have dotted themselves, I'll Purge it off of him. Then we can happily resume our deeps :)

Again, this will only work if your group has an offensive dispel. As a corollary to this, be wary of warrior tanks -- they can remove it prematurely with an ill-timed Shield Slam if they are not careful.
