Around Azeroth: The sands of time
"I thought this daily article could use a few more scenery screenshots," writes our anonymous submitter. "Ah, the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj. Despite or perhaps because of its surreal scenery and eerie atmosphere, it remains one of the most beautiful instances in the game -- particularly in the areas where the sprawling hive's roof opens up into the sky, which by that point in the raid would usually be filled with stars."

AQ is my favorite instance of all time from a story/aesthetics standpoint. What's not to like about a giant hive of bugs and obsidian constructs controlled by an mysterious and ancient evil? I thought it was brilliant.

This might be the first picture featured on AA that actually creeps me out. Seriously. The silithid stuff is freakish enough as it is, throw in an opening to starry nothingness that could be a mouth? With tentacles to feed said mouth? @_@ I'm totally saving this one and it's going to freak me out whenever it pops up on my screensaver.
