The Queue: Judge Judy has never heard of World of Warcraft
Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft.
Welcome to another edition of The Queue, which I'm writing while watching some Judge Judy that my girlfriend DVRed earlier today. I personally don't really care for the show, but Katie loves it.
I was looking for a Judge Judy video to include in today's Queue when I stumbled upon the one you'll see about. In it, Judge Judy admits she doesn't know about WoW. So let me just say this: Judge, if you wish, I will be more than happy to give you some one-on-one instruction on what the World of Warcraft is all about. Have your people call my people; let's make it happen.
Aikou asked:
Has there been any mention of a new legendary weapon for Cataclysm?
Blizzard said at BlizzCon 2010 that there will be a legendary caster weapon -- a staff, if I recall correctly. As far as what dungeon it will come in or how it will be obtained, no information has been provided on that yet.
Zayd asked:
What would you recommend as a quick and easy fix to improve my frame rate? I love having my draw distance at max to help me feel like I'm in a vast new world. I'm hoping if I turn the settings down on anything else, though, it'll help?
Turn everything else down then, especially shadows -- and by "down," I mean at the lowest settings. If that doesn't work, you might just have to upgrade your video card. It'll only cost you about $150 to get a decent video card these days. (I personally recommend Nvidia.)
MikeLive asked:
What was Twilight Highlands called before the Twilight's Hammer moved in, when it was primary a bunch of Wildhammer settlements?
There's no history that I can find on the Twilight Highlands that gives a name (although there is mention that it has been called many different names), but there are numerous references to it as simply "the highlands," so I'd guess that's a good bet. The highlands are also part of the Khaz Modan mountainous region on the Eastern Kingdoms, so it could also have just been a generic part of that region.
This is a good question, and I'm happy to be proven wrong in the comments if someone knows a better answer.

Is there any mention or hits of any other woulds visted by the titans?
(other than the fireworks algalon told us he saw)
Karras Jan 27th 2011 11:30AM
Has anyone ever postulated about a link between the WoW Titans & The SC Xel'naga?
Artificial Jan 27th 2011 11:39AM
@Karras: Only people largely ignorant of both. They're quite dramatically different in many ways, despite what similarities they do share. Also, WoW is obliquely established as existing in the StarCraft universe, apparently still being played in the 26th century (one wonders what the level cap is up to), so it would kinda bizarre for stuff from what's a video game in the SC universe to actually exist in the SC universe.
Faith Trust Jan 27th 2011 11:58AM
the cap is 800
Artificial Jan 27th 2011 12:11PM
Ah thanks. Assuming five levels per expansion from now on, that equates to a new expansion roughly every three and a half years between now and the 26th century. Since they've indicated a desire to get expansions out more quickly than that, one assumes they start pumping out expansions at some point with even lower level bumps (say, a new expansion every year and a half with two more levels), or the game went on hiatus for a period. Alternately, I could be way over-analyzing things. ;)
Grovinofdarkhour Jan 27th 2011 1:33PM
Overanalyzing? In The Queue? Pish tosh. Never happens.
Blazing Rain Jan 27th 2011 2:25PM
@Artificial's first comment: Over 9000! (Somebody had to say it)
lazearian Jan 27th 2011 3:45PM
We managed to go from titans to sc2 to max wow level to queue comments
to over 9000 in just 6 posts i think that's a new record
Derrek Jan 28th 2011 5:53PM
@Artificial
Before the game went live, the SC2 site had a few galactic maps that showed the location of the planet Azeroth along with most of the planets that are directly part of the SC storyline. I don't know if they're still up there and I'm too lazy to go find them myself, but rest assured, they existed at one time. :)
So it leads to this.. did the Terrans name the planet after their favorite MMO, or did they discover that what they thought was a game world is actually a parallel to a real place? Y'know, like multiverse theory only not?

Still no legendary for my enha shaman :-/ And as I know Blizzard, if they ever make an agi weapon legendary, it'll be a sword...
Culhag Jan 27th 2011 11:14AM
They could make a legendary 1H axe (or a set of two, like Azzinoth), that rogues, enh shams, and hunters would be able to use.
MikeLive Jan 27th 2011 11:14AM
I would drool at a Legendary Fist Weapon.
Of course, I drool at Fist Weapons in general despite their rarity...
Scarhorn Jan 27th 2011 11:18AM
Here's the thing about Legendary Enh weapons, you already had one back in the day, it's just not good for Enh anymore. I remember the petty squabbles in raiding guilds still running MC over whether the Warrior or Enhancement Shammy got the bits to make Sulphuras, Hand of Ragnaros. That thing was nasty back in the days when you could luck out with WF chain procs and one shot anything.
Grovinofdarkhour Jan 27th 2011 11:19AM
You're saying http://www.wowhead.com/item=17182 doesn't count?
Sorro Jan 27th 2011 11:40AM
I feel your pain. No love for feral druids, either.
Mortenebra Jan 27th 2011 12:01PM
As others have mentioned before, Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros, can be used by shamans-- which I only found out a couple of days ago when I reluctantly remembered hunters can't use maces and had to pass to the shaman who was rep/mats farming with us. Hunters also can't use the Warglaives; but we do get the really sweet bow, Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury. Oddly, that doesn't have a class specification like the Warglaives did.
And that's been a curiosity of mine, if someone doesn't mind answering it for me: Why do the Warglaives of Azzinoth have class specifications while something like Thori'dal doesn't?
Revynn Jan 27th 2011 12:27PM
I wouldn't be surprised to see another melee-centric legendary at the end of this expansion, specifically one geared towards kitties, rogues and shamans. There hasn't been anything for enhance since Sulfurus, but you at least had the option of speccing Resto and rolling on Valanyr. Mages and Warlocks haven't had anything since Naxx-40 which was far less accessible than Molten Core. As far as I'm concerned, that's why we were given priority this time around.
The roles of The Earthen Ring and Cenarion Circle in this expansion somewhat mirror those played by the Ebon Blade and Argent Crusade in Wrath so I'd expect them to go a similar route with the 4.3 legendary and base it on agility melee specs.
IMO, I don't think we'll ever see a legendary Shield, primarily because 2 of the 4 tanking classes can't even equip them and that would go against Blizzards new model of accessibility (also why the forthcoming caster legendary is a staff instead of a spell sword, so priests, boomkins and shamans can use it as well). If they do ever do another tanking legendary it will need to be a weapon and, due to itemization differences (DW DK tanks are no longer supported, paladins and Warriors can't tank with a 2H) will need to follow the Atiesh and Quel'delar theory of, not just one, but 2-3 different versions of the same weapon that you get to choose from at the end of the quest line.

re: sulfarus:
not sure I have ever seen a enhancement shaman raid with a 2 hander. That would be a really bad move, but I suppose it is a legendary weapon that a enh shaman could equip, but the healer mace from ulduar would qualify for that also.
the problem with making an +agi legendary is how few classes would use it
only rogues want fast 1h
enh shaman and combat rogues use slow 1h
ferals and hunters want 2handers
How do you suggest they thread that needle? a slow 1h will force rogues into a combat , and be great for enhance. A fast 1h will only be used by rogues. A 2 hander will only be for ferals and hunters, my guess is that a 2h is the most likely.
Kurash Jan 27th 2011 1:08PM
@matt
Back in vanilla WoW using a two-hander as enhancement was fine -- especially if you got a crit and both windfury procs also crit. Instant death, basically. You're right that it's not a good idea now, but back then it was fun!

"Why do the Warglaives of Azzinoth have class specifications while something like Thori'dal doesn't?"
Because blizz hates hunters /conspiracy theory
