WRUP: Making the old new again

This week's WRUP bonus question comes from a reader. In the comments of The Queue earlier in the week, themightysven asked: Which old dungeon would you like to see given a heroic version, like Cataclysm gave Shadowfang Keep and Deadmines?
Adam Holisky (@AdamHolisky): Between being sick and traveling down to Minneapolis for some family functions, I won't be playing much WoW. Which is too bad, given that I've started healing again on my druid and it's much less painful than it was a month ago. As far as what dungeon must become a heroic: Scarlet Monestary. Seriously Blizzard, make it happen. I'll start a fundraiser to cover the cost of development if needed. LF Power Tank, Heroic SM.
Alex Ziebart (@AlexZiebart): Magicka. Oh my word, Magicka. That game is the most fun I've had playing a video game in a really long time. There are a lot of video games I like for various reasons. Some for the story, some for the feeling of getting better and better at it, maybe for the thrills and scares ... but Magicka? It's pure, unfiltered fun. As for the bonus question, I want to see heroic Scarlet Monastery. What baddies moved in after the Crusade moved out?
Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey): Painting! Bedroom is currently completely empty -- good thing we've got a guest bedroom upstairs. Since the computer is about to be taken apart and carted out of here, there are no plans for WoW unless I get everything done in time for Sunday's raid. I completely agree with Adam -- Scarlet Monastery needs to be a heroic, complete with Mal'ganis or some other hideously complicated fight in the cathedral. Alternatively, a heroic version of Maraudon would be interesting, if a little soul-crushing.
C. Christian Moore (@TheArenaGuy): I'll be doing lots of studying this weekend. I'll probably be attending a Mirrodin Besieged prerelease (Magic: The Gathering nerd here). I might play some WoW, but it's not looking good. I'll go with the Zul'Farrak recommendation -- the stairs event is such an epic part of WoW history that I'd love to do it at max level.
Dan O'Halloran: It's hard to find time for WoW this weekend. With DC Universe Online, SOE's Facebook game Dungeon Overlord, Magic The Gathering: Tactics and the RIFT beta, I may only have enough free time to check my auction house dealings.
Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb): Mostly, I'll be trying to cap my guild rep for the week. I'm revered, but I've missed a few caps because of vacation or business, so I don't want to fall any more behind if I can help it. I'll also doing a few more Wrath/BC guild runs to get various guild achievements. For a heroic, I'd love to see a heroic Scholomance. Make it unique enough to wrap up the stories of the Scourge once and for all. Also, Gandling needs to drop heroic versions of the dungeon 1 helms so I can finally get that damn Wildheart helm on my druid, damn it.
Dawn Moore (@dawnwow): This weekend I'll be doing the usual: writing and recording the Circle of Healing Podcast. I'll also be practicing holy through BGs, though. Bonus question: I absolutely adored Dire Maul in vanilla, but I couldn't stand to see the glory of it (the difficult and complex trash -- yes, trash!) taken away, so I'll toss in a bid for Zul'Farrak. The ZF stairs encounter used to be so epic in vanilla. I'm not sure if it got nerfed over time or if everyone just became a better player, but it's just not the same anymore.
Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives): My fiancé and I are going to visit my family in Tucson, so I won't be doing much gaming on the big consoles. That said, I'll probably start Dead Space 2 before I leave.
Joe Perez (@Lodurzj): Playing more DCUO! That's pretty much my gaming goal this weekend. I also picked up Dead Space 2, so I'll probably bop into that a little bit and play around. Guesting on a vidcast about DCUO this weekend and then just preparing for next week's raids. Bonus: I would kill for a heroic BRD. I loved that instance so much, and I would love to see how they would change it for heroic mode now that Moira is in Ironforge.
Josh Myers (@elamqt): I'll be home from my conference this weekend, which means either DCUO or leveling my warlock, Sashafears. For the bonus question, I tip my hat to both Lisa and Joe, as heroic BRD would amuse me greatly. However, my #1 would be heroic Maraudon. I think Zul'Farrak could be awesome as well.
Kelly Aarons (@Cadistra): Doing some web design stuff on Caturday, then work work work the rest of the weekend. I'm so close to getting my [Drake of the West Wind] I can taste it! As for a heroic revival? Yeah, I'm going with Scarlet Monastery. I can see that being really, really cool.
Lisa Poisso (@emused): I'll be enjoying the fact that most folks seem to have hit a WoW equilibrium and therefore aren't frantic to play at every opportunity to either (1.) finish up my 70s while they're logged out doing other things for the weekend, or (2.) log out and do other things for the weekend! Bonus: Ohhhh, yesssssssssss, heroic BRD ...
Mathew McCurley (@gomatgo): Lots of time will be spent cover lettering and playing with the two pieces of gear from Razer I'm going to be reviewing. Of course, there will be more writing and probably a ton of Twitter and movie breaks. As for what dungeon I would love to see hit with the heroic treatment, it would have to be either Upper Blackrock Spire or a not-terrible Uldaman that needs to be completely redone to be fun.
Matthew Rossi (@MatthewWRossi): I'm enjoying DCU Online a lot lot right now, so I'll probably be doing that. I'll probably run my daily in WoW, but I think generally I need a small break from the game to decompress. I'd like heroic Blackwing Lair as a 5-man instance.
Matt Low (@matticus): Some fishing. Maybe some archaeology. But I'll mostly try to use this weekend to just relax and get away from doing anything that requires any serious thinking. I'm also going to see if I can find those droids. Don't you just hate it when you can't find the droids that you're looking for? Bonus: heroic Gnomeregan! Hah, I'm a glutton for punishment.
Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel): Well, I'll be joining the Lunar Lunacy on Sunday. Who's with me? Bonus: ZF, definitely.
Sarah Nichol (@mentalshaman): I'll be recording the first episode of the Obscurecast's second season with my co-host Gazimoff. Moving is all done, although we're still unpacking. Saturday is for family time, but I'm hoping the evening will be given over to picking up the Iron Council hard mode for the 25-man Glory of the Ulduar Raider. Finally I'll be getting my first piece of T11 and my Drake of the West Wind! Nostalgia heroic times? I'd actually like to see one of the level 60 dungeons, such as Scholomance! However, I think that opportunity disappeared in Wrath, so I'll go for Upper Blackrock Spire. The Rend event is classic. Plus maybe we'd get a chance for a rare chromatic drake mount!

I'm one mark away from the drake of the west wind. Too bad I might have to wait till Monday to get it b/c I'll be busy the whole weekend.

Anything that means killing more Scarlets gets my vote, so Heroic Scarlet Monastery would be frickin' awesome. Can't wait to see what the quest-giver from the current version would do. ^_^
Deathknighty Jan 28th 2011 8:29PM
I bought Magicka, but my laptop can't run it!
It sucks, it looks so fun!!

Bonus question - Stockades.
Hogger will pwn you all, and it will be good.
MusedMoose Jan 28th 2011 8:51PM
Oh, man, I didn't even think of the Stockades. Heroic Hogger would be an entirely new kind of awesome. There should be a title associated with slaying him, perhaps "the Fearless." ^_^
Deathknighty Jan 29th 2011 3:39AM
"the Badass"?
Chops Jan 29th 2011 8:57AM
"The Hog-Roaster"

Adam's coming down to Minneapolis and I'm heading up to Grand Forks...funny. And I fully support the idea of heroic Scarlet Monastery.

How many Twin Cities readers do we have here on WoW Insider?
Bvannas Jan 28th 2011 9:38PM
Removed soundcard to get Magicka to work. Last thing I did on it was Kill myself with a thunderbolt in a panic.
Bonus Question:
A Heroic Ragefire chasm where it has become infested with the shadow council plotting a takeover, one where you get to kill Nerru Fireblade. Just to close Nerru's tale, and because its the first dungeon a lot characters ever do.
themightysven Jan 28th 2011 9:40PM
with Miss Purple Glowy Pants there's a lot of potential in Scarlet Monastery, BRD also seems a likely candidate. Maraudon post-exalted with Therazane would be interesting as well. I kind of think that Sunken Temple has some juice given how the Emerald Dream situation didn't get any resolution in-game.
also Yay!
Starlin Jan 28th 2011 9:52PM
Heroic Stratholme would be awesome.
shockologist Jan 28th 2011 10:40PM
SM --- too big don't see blizz doing 4 at once.
RFC and Stocks together would be my bet for the next ones.
Cetha Jan 28th 2011 11:01PM
Heroic SM definitely.
I too am having a blast with DCUO and it's totally feeding my Altoholic tendency.
I also haven't logged into WoW once since I got it.
Namus Jan 28th 2011 11:18PM
Scholo, just for the paladin charger quest memories.
jfofla Jan 28th 2011 11:50PM
Wildheart does not exist, or so it seems.
77 times I killed The Baron when it was a 15 man. That man would not drop his pants for me.
Shoggoth Jan 29th 2011 8:09AM
Uprated for the last sentence. /snicker

As usual, Matthew Rossi has a perfect idea. BWL as a H 5-Man. Beautiful.
Flexcapacito Jan 29th 2011 9:30AM
Scholo redo level 85 please level difficulty was perfect - Plus will teach all the new people / less educated people how to learn to cc and pull correctly considering the mobs were very close together u make a small mistake it will chain and u get the whole room instant wipe. Plus the quests Pally mount quest was awsome, the bosses in there perfect compilation of crazy different strats. Bring back the Tier .5 system and the 6 peice set bonus also. Make some quests in these dungeons to teach people how to tank, cc, and play there class. And lastly bring peace on earth and all good will toward men while your at it thx.

To the people playing DCUO, are you playing it on PC or PS3? I'm really debating on checking it out, but can't decide which platform.
The easy answer for me, is PS3, but I've heard it runs a lot better on a PC. I'm on a Mac, so the whole virtual machine thing is a pain, but if it's good, I'd give it a go.
Happy Weekend :)
