The Queue: How much Keeffe is in this movie, anyway?
So what if I'm on an MST3K kick this weekend? Is there any better kick on which to be?
Hal asked:
When Hand of Light triggers for my ret paladin, the icon for Divine Storm lights up on my bar. As far as I can tell, though, Divine Storm doesn't interact with Holy Power in any way. Is this a bug, or am I missing something?
Divine Storm originally dealt damage based on the number of holy power charges you had, but that was changed. It just hasn't been removed from the spell alert list for Hand of Light yet.
Charles W. Moore Jr. asked:
I have not seen this particular issue with any guild yet, but if certain guild rewards are linked to guild rep, as is currently true, if a member of a guild is kicked out of that guild, for either serious or joke reasons, do they lose all of their rep with that guild, and thus their abilities to access certain guild rewards?
You maintain your rep with a guild until you join another guild, and you cannot buy guild rewards when not in a guild.
Brian asked:
I recently discovered that you can gain reputation with (in my case) the Alliance factions by wearing their tabard into content that I severely outgear (say, while farming SM for profession mats for my alts). Any word on if this is by design or if it will be fixed some day? I never finished maxing out my rep with Gnomeregan or Darnassus in Wrath, so this seems like it may be too good to be true (+3 rep per trash kill and +63 rep per boss kill with my level 83 warrior).
It's by design. You gain about five times as much rep running the dungeon at its appropriate level.
Ikarus asked:
You were a blue? I had no idea. So can I ask a favor? I'm sure you still have some connections. Would you mind asking someone to stop by the arcane mage threads and give us a heads up?? Thanks. :)
It's disingenuous to maintain a mystique like I'm important or influential with Blizzard designers because, honestly, I have no pull whatsoever in these kinds of things. You'll notice I don't write much that's class-related. I leave high-level theorycrafting to people who're actually good at it.
I still have plenty of friends at Blizzard, mind you. And they're all pretty cool people. So I don't ask anyone work-related stuff. That way they still have jobs and I still have friends.

Since 4.0.3a hit a select few addons of mine "Apparently" stop me from disspelling buffs, I've asked about this before and it's something to do with coding 'Corruption' or something and that it's down to Blizzard not the addon. I have NO addons that deal with buffs...at all, and the addons that are blamed via the 'Blah blah UI is blocked by , DIsable or Ignore?' message are the same ones over and over again, and unless I disable the addon the UI refuses to let me dispell buffs..
A few include Miks Battle text and auctioneer, the addon runs peerfectly and I can dispell buffs alright but at some point the client suddenly decides one of those addons is stopping me from dispelling buffs...what the heck is up with this? Why is it always the same addons yet they're up-to-date, run perfectly fine and have nothing to do with buffs?
*wall of text crits you for over nine thousand*

Blizzard changed the way the API works to make it impossible for an addon to dispell buffs whilst in combat.
This has been rectified, however, and it's now only impossible for addons to automatically dispell buffs - but you should still be able to click them off.
It's likely that some of your addons haven't been updated to take these changes into account - even though it often seems like the most random thing preventing you from doing things, that seemingly has nothing to do with the function you're trying to perform.
Until your addons are updated to reflect the changes, I'd recommend macro'ing the /cancelaura function to your action bar - then you can dispel whatever you need whenever you want to.

Well it's nice to get some info, however these addons have been updated since this issue started so maybe the author isn't aware there is an issue.
And I already said I do NOT have any addons that disable buffs for me or even touch that part of the UI visually, it's the default Blizzard buff UI.
I also said at first I am allowed to dispell buffs with a certain addon enabled but at random while I'm playing the client suddenly says that Auctioneer is stopping me from dispelling buffs...Why does it freak out midgame, why not at the start?

I think I heard that Nbuff has the ability to click off buffs (look at this week's Reader UI article - they talk about it). I know I used to use SBF for my buffs, and it was really frustrating to have to type /cancelaura for everything. I know my rogue was ESPECIALLY annoyed during the Thanksgiving-themed one where everyone was turning me into a turkey (ugh).
Sydidex Jan 29th 2011 1:07PM
Are you running a UI addon such as Xperl? An addon that changes your portrait frames can prevent debuff cancelation due to a change on blizzards end (from what I understand). Ive been dealing with the problem due to xperl, though there may be a change for it out and I just havent looked. I've just been typing or macroing /cancelaura [spell name]. Hope that helps.

This happens to me all the time too. I'll be fine for the first while after I log on, but eventually it will stop letting me click off buffs. It'll be annoying when I'm trying to parachute onto something and miss since I can't cancel the slow fall buff. The addon that's the trouble for me is ouf, which handles the unit frames for Spartan UI. The main thing that bugs me is that, like I said, it'll work fine for a while, but then suddenly decide it doesn't like me being able to cancel the buffs and stop working. Why is it not one way or the other?
Bart Jan 29th 2011 1:23PM
My UI is almost 100% Default, unit frames, actionbars and Buffs (Minimap and bags are the only things changed but they've never been 'Blamed' by the client, only Auctioneer, Mats Battle Text and a few others which barely change my UI at all)
Ronin Jan 29th 2011 1:40PM
I've seen some discussion by Addon authors about this. It seems this is a Blizzard problem, as it will sometimes blame addons that have nothing to do with the UI. The fact that it's random (as to when or how often it happens, and which UI it blames) adds weight to the argument that this isn't and addon issue per-se.
I'm just going by what they say, but these are some authors that I put a lot of faith in.
Ronin Jan 29th 2011 1:42PM
Btw, there are other actions that "addons" supposedly prevent you from performing as well. Just thought I'd mention that.
Whoosh Jan 29th 2011 12:07PM
Is there any hope in wishing for reduced BoA prices any time in this expansion?
Zalvi24 Jan 29th 2011 12:12PM
i highly doubt it, those prices are set for people that cant find a way to sped their JP anymore and are running heroics which award JP per boss kill, if you're struggling on getting JP you shouldnt be sepnding them in heirlooms
Saeadame Jan 29th 2011 1:03PM
If you're talking about the JP ones, probably not. It's not that hard to have more than enough points to buy them after you've bought everything you can from the Cataclysm JP vendors. In the past couple weeks I've bought the bow and some shoulders, just from doing my heroic daily.
If you're talking about the Cataclysm ones for money... probably not either. People need a gold sink, and 1.2k isn't much of a "sink" for most people.
Revynn Jan 29th 2011 1:09PM
If you're referring to the heirloom cloaks that you buy with gold, rather than JP, probably not. I personally had more than enough money on my main to buy all three the day they were made available and all her money came exclusively from leveling to 85 and doing dailies for Rep.
Srsly, if you can't come up with 1200G these days you're doing something very wrong. A single set of Cataclysm dailies should net you about that much and only take you about an hour once you figure out a pattern.
Jeremy Jan 29th 2011 1:27PM
"Srsly, if you can't come up with 1200G these days you're doing something very wrong. A single set of Cataclysm dailies should net you about that much and only take you about an hour once you figure out a pattern."
Wow. That is totally wrong. From Tol Barad dailies, which are level 85 dailies and therefore give you the max amount of gold you're going to get from a daily, I get about 16 gold. If I did 25 level 85 dailies, that's 16 * 25 = 400 gold. Nowhere near 1,200. To get 1,200 gold from 25 dailies they'd all need to pay 48 gold. I'm not saying it's incredibly hard to get that much gold, but in a day from dailies? Not happening.
Revynn Jan 29th 2011 1:45PM
Not all dailies give the same amount of gold. Also, factor in gray vendor items, cash drops from the mobs you're killing, any greens that drop while you're out and toss in a random heroic or normal . . . it adds up. I may have overestimated it a little, but the fact doesn't change that 1,200G is not a great fortune anymore and can be easily attained without needing to play the auction house, leveilng a crafting profession or spending hours on end farming.
BubblePriest Jan 30th 2011 3:45AM
I feel like the real question here is if they'll ever move the vendor from Dalaran. That and the ink trader are a pain to get to.
DarkSpade Jan 29th 2011 12:08PM
"You maintain your rep with a guild until you join another guild, and you cannot buy guild rewards when not in a guild."
Just a heads up. If you do any moving between accounts with a character, that character's guild rep is wiped back to ZERO. My guild leader found this out the hard way.
omnibishop Jan 29th 2011 12:54PM
Also, as noted at Wowpedia.com:
You will lose it if you:
1. Do not rejoin the same guild within 10 days.
So if you get end up ragequitting and regretting it later or get booted/gquit as a joke, you still can get your rep back. Just don't wait 10 days.
Rich Jan 29th 2011 12:10PM
If we get guild rewards such as the companion you get from the critter killing achievement and leave the guild, do we lose the rewards we already got?
Zalvi24 Jan 29th 2011 12:13PM
no you dont.
