The Queue: How much Keeffe is in this movie, anyway?
So what if I'm on an MST3K kick this weekend? Is there any better kick on which to be?
Hal asked:
When Hand of Light triggers for my ret paladin, the icon for Divine Storm lights up on my bar. As far as I can tell, though, Divine Storm doesn't interact with Holy Power in any way. Is this a bug, or am I missing something?
Divine Storm originally dealt damage based on the number of holy power charges you had, but that was changed. It just hasn't been removed from the spell alert list for Hand of Light yet.
Charles W. Moore Jr. asked:
I have not seen this particular issue with any guild yet, but if certain guild rewards are linked to guild rep, as is currently true, if a member of a guild is kicked out of that guild, for either serious or joke reasons, do they lose all of their rep with that guild, and thus their abilities to access certain guild rewards?
You maintain your rep with a guild until you join another guild, and you cannot buy guild rewards when not in a guild.
Brian asked:
I recently discovered that you can gain reputation with (in my case) the Alliance factions by wearing their tabard into content that I severely outgear (say, while farming SM for profession mats for my alts). Any word on if this is by design or if it will be fixed some day? I never finished maxing out my rep with Gnomeregan or Darnassus in Wrath, so this seems like it may be too good to be true (+3 rep per trash kill and +63 rep per boss kill with my level 83 warrior).
It's by design. You gain about five times as much rep running the dungeon at its appropriate level.
Ikarus asked:
You were a blue? I had no idea. So can I ask a favor? I'm sure you still have some connections. Would you mind asking someone to stop by the arcane mage threads and give us a heads up?? Thanks. :)
It's disingenuous to maintain a mystique like I'm important or influential with Blizzard designers because, honestly, I have no pull whatsoever in these kinds of things. You'll notice I don't write much that's class-related. I leave high-level theorycrafting to people who're actually good at it.
I still have plenty of friends at Blizzard, mind you. And they're all pretty cool people. So I don't ask anyone work-related stuff. That way they still have jobs and I still have friends.

Nope. You keep everything you already got.

I have 2 questions.
With the cooking cap now 525, why would they make it harder to hit 300 since the cataclysm? They removed a lot of fish recipes from the game although the fish are still there to be caught. One of the best things about leveling fishing was that for the most part you could level cooking at the same time. Now you can’t and that seems really odd.
For my second question I’m wondering whose idea it was to include not 1 but 2 rehashed old dungeons for level 85s to run over and over and over. Whenever I get put in heroic SFK or Deadmines everyone always complains. It’s like we have two Oculus dungeons in this expansion.
Henrah Jan 29th 2011 12:24PM
In answer of your first question, it is still possible to level fishing and cooking together, Filet of Redgill still give points up to 275 cooking. (Albeit very slowly)
I don't think Blizzard intended to have killed Gikkix with the flooding of Tanaris - it's likely we'll see him, or simply his recipes, back at some point.
Scunosi Jan 29th 2011 12:28PM
Don't get me wrong, both of the revamps are pretty cool, and the Vanessa fight is one of the truly epic fights in game right now (more like fighting through a movie than just another strategy). It's just I seem to get them so damn often. When my queue pops (as DPS by the way, so I'm not going to leave for a new one) it's almost always either SFK or HVC.
And like I said, they're cool dungeons, but they're both really really long, at least compared to the other new ones. They both have what, at least 6 bosses and a lot of walking? The only Cata dungeon that has that is HoO and it's fairly compact with little trash.
So basically I don't think people are complaining in that they don't like the instances per se, it's just everyone I talk to gets both a lot and they're both much longer than you'd want to run before logging off for the night.

I think Scunosi hit the nail on the head - people aren't complaining because they're old dungeons, people are complaining because they're long (although, SFK is not as bad, there's 5 bosses and one of those is skipable - 4 bosses isn't TOO bad it's just... all that stupid TRASH). Deadmines is quite annoying, there's six bosses and none of them are skipable, tonnes of difficult trash, particularly if you don't have lots of the right kind of CC (ideally, I think you'd want a mage, a shaman, and a hunter as your DPS in that place lol). So it IS annoying to get, but not really because it's a classic dungeon revamp, but because it's long, somewhat difficult, and the fights are a little gimmicky.

I'd wager it's just like Oculus and HoS. The reason you keep getting them is because 1 or more people in line ahead of you saw the load screen, groaned, and immediately dropped group.

"Divine Storm originally dealt damage based on the number of Holy Power charges you had, but that was changed" because of the rivers of QQ by paladins because their IWIN button was taken away. I liked the idea though, Holy Power having 1 single-target spell to burn it, and 1 aoe spell.

Why is Nordrassil still important?
Boobah Jan 29th 2011 1:05PM
Because it's still a giant magic tree growing out of the largest source of magic on the planet, the Well of Eternity?

Addon question: Are the addon and WTF folders identical between Mac and Windows versions of the game? Addons are neutral, but the setttings etc and the way things are organized? In other words, could I move my UI as it's configured between platforms just by copying those 2 folders?
BigB Jan 29th 2011 12:29PM
Yes you can move them between platforms, I've done it a few times.
ruggerjj Jan 29th 2011 12:32PM
Yes... all of the folder structures are the same between Mac and PC and all of the files (except the root WoW folder) should have the same files since they are independent of the operating system.
Saeadame Jan 29th 2011 1:18PM
I've already tried this, and moving the folder between a PC and a Mac doesn't seem to work. I think they must configure it slightly differently, but I couldn't get ANY of my addons to show up in my mac version, much less show up with their original configurations.
Granted, I didn't have a lot of time to spend fiddling, but it doesn't work right off the bat, anyway.
MikeLive Jan 29th 2011 2:20PM
@Saeadame Sounds like something got messed up when you copied, the vast majority of game data is, by design, platform-independent and you should be able to copy back and forth to keep things updated.
Artificial Jan 29th 2011 2:21PM
@Saeadame: They work perfectly, right off the bat, without any fiddling, if you copy them to the correct place. They don't show up at all, much less in their original configuration, if you copy them to the wrong place.

You maintain your rep with a guild until you join another guild, and you cannot buy guild rewards when not in a guild.
I'm not sure that is exactly what he was asking. I think he meant. If I am in a guild and they have a reputation reward because I am exalted with Wildhammer. IF I get kicked and they lose that exalted and no one else in the guild has it. If it puts them below the achievement threshhold do they lose the rewards .
Adriain Jan 29th 2011 12:19PM
"I have not seen this particular issue with any guild yet, but if certain guild rewards are linked to GUILD REP, as is currently true, if a member of a guild is kicked out of that guild, for either serious or joke reasons, do they lose all of their REP with that GUILD, and thus their abilities to access certain guild rewards?"
The question was about guild rep. The answer was about guild rep. Thus the question was answered appropriately.
Castor27 Jan 29th 2011 12:38PM
Yep my bad I misread it
Vitos Jan 29th 2011 12:39PM
But this is still an interesting question.
Boobah Jan 29th 2011 1:10PM
Right now it's a non-issue; right now the achievement counts whichever guildie has the highest number of exalted reputations.
Whether this is a bug or the devs changed their mind on how it should work, I don't know.
