Breakfast Topic: What caused your first Cataclysm death?

One of the great things about expansions is all the "firsts" we get to experience. For example: my first 310% flight speed, my first time flying in the old world, my first archaeology artifact -- there are so many fantastic things that come with an expansion! However, there are also some rude awakenings. I was surprised when frost came back as a mage leveling spec. I was also taken aback at just how quickly I perished when I tried to take on more than one mob. Let me paint a picture for you.
Here we have this overconfident fire mage coming into Mount Hyjal for the first time. She grabs some quests and heads out to kill some fire elementals. She tags one, and puts Living Bomb up. It proceeds to make a lot of elementals angry with her. She shrugs off the multitude of fiery beings heading her way -- "I'll just AoE them down." That doesn't bode well. Slowly, her life force ebbs away, she gets weaker and weaker, there's a darkness coming over her, and then she's just ... gone.
I stare at my screen. Did that really just happen? Did I seriously just die to my first Cataclysm mob? I quickly look around the room; awww crud, yes, my husband saw that. Well, that's a bit embarrassing! I then take some time to see what the other mages in the area are running as. "Ahem, well I guess I'll go spec frost now ..."
I'm curious where and when the rest of you saw your first Cataclysm demise. Was it due to overconfidence or a wrong spec? Did you make it without dying until your first dungeon?

Bought old weather flying, mounted up, and jumped off a cliff.
Apparently the dreadsteed doesn't know how to fly

For me, it was either Gamon or falling off of the flight master's perch in Org.
Word of the [un]wise: Don't heal someone who suddenly lost some 100k health when they're in the middle of Org.

right clicking on a newly 85 elite horde flight master instead of an ally one by mistake, he one shotted my cloth ass :(

This is a bit embarassing ...
Through WotLK I have always had an affinity of finding ... holes. The largest one I actually managed to fall into was, ofc, the Void existing around the Outland landmasses (while leveling a new toon after three month hiatus, trying to run from a mob of angry voidwalkers, not looking where I went -noob mistake, granted).
In Utgarde, there is a broken staircase. I fell into a hole there, while my group - a guildgroup, not a pug - wiped. As a paladin, I rezzed them once I found my way out of the hole. We laughed. I felt silly. Especially since I fell into the hole again.
In Different Locations, there is ALWAYS a hole - and I find them.
Thus:
While questing in Mount Hyjal, and gathering precious minerals for the AH, near an ogre cave slightly north of that worgen zone (the one where you set a wolf god free), I found an elusive mineral node. It was ... well ... sort of behind a pillar, nestled against a cliff. After some fifteen minutes of tweaking my movement, even walking towards it, I finally found the node. Now, this was just a day or two after world release and prices on the AH was in the 500 gold for stacks of 20 obsidium (on my server). I was eager for that node, aight?
To my big suprise, there was no ground. It was, in fact - a void. I literally fell through the world, ending up as a corpse in Felwood. Following some two, three minutes of falling through Nothingness. Total nihilism.
That's how I died in the Cataclysm.

It was in Hyjal. There was that quest where you had to kill the trolls that were escorting mining equipment or supplies along a road that was on a cliff. There was so many players in the area at the time the respawn rate was insane. My poor mage got overwhelmed by respawns (playing frost at the time thinking, yeah I can do this without freezing stuff.)

I believe mine was in Vashj'ir, and it was a combination of having two mobs on me (which I could have handled) and then having two more spawn thanks to rapid repops. This was during the first week of play.

Like so many others, my first death was to the endless spawns of mobs. I was in one of those portals in Hyjal. The one where you have to smash the elemental cores on the anvils.
So there I am, with my enh shaman still decked out in my ICC raid gear, fealing pretty confident that I hadn't felt this 'new power' of Cata mobs. I walk into a little side room, drop totems, take out the first fire dude, take out the twilight hammer guy...no prob. Go to smash the cores...then the twilight hammer dude respawns....no prob...down him...again. Then the fire guy comes back....and the other....
Uh...yeah....no prob. Re drop my totems...pop my puppies...I'll show these respawns whose boss. Take out that wave of respawns...go to breath a sigh of releaf....when...wth??? All three are back AT THE SAME TIME NOW...how is that even possible? What happen to respawn timers or some crap like that...
By this point about seven of them are dead at my feet, I'm trying to kill and heal at the same time when more spawn before I can even kill the last wave....and.......I'm dead.
In all runs through that portal since with other toons...I've decided that there are better places to smash the cores than that particular hell hole...lol

The naga in the 'overwhelmed' event fight in Vashj'ir.
I had just enough health left after the battle that when the Shaman showed up and exploded the naga carrying me away, I died from it.

Questing in Hyjal just after installing. I took some time to explore new stormwind, put my talents in order, etc.. then went looking for the new quest to go to the new areas. Kept waiting for that boat to Vash'jir (didn't realize it literally took FORDAMNEVER) and gave up and took the portal to Hyjal. One of those first few quest where you need to kill those cultist folk. The respawn rate was crazy! My 80 NE druid, in mostly crafted purples, was doing fine 1 on 1, maaybe surivived a mob of 2-3, with some self healing involved. However, when it got to the point that the last of the mob went down there was a respawn right on top of it giving me little time to recover. First time it happened, I died. I died a few times there just trying to handle the respawns. It happened when I finally figured out how to get to Vash'jir, but by then I'd gained a level and a bit of a routine in trying to be prepared.
Side note - have yet to stand in the fire. Deathwing is apparently avoiding me. I've been doing archeololgy stuffs in lots of the old world areas since the beginning of the expansion and I haven't run into him.

Some wretched aquatic creature out in Vashj'ir that 24 hours previously i would have annihilated.
zaababy Jan 31st 2011 9:14AM
in Vashj'ir, when you're protecting the ship from the huge waves of naga, yes, one of the first quests you get, I died. On two different characters at the exact same quest. I AM NOT ASHAMED.

Embarrassingly enough, Gnash snuck up on me in Vash. How I got out-rogued by a huge sea giant still escapes me.
mibu.work1 Jan 31st 2011 9:22AM
Whale Shark. Two of 'em. And that Snake outdoor-raid boss. Simultaneously.
Roguesan Jan 31st 2011 9:23AM
Turned up in Vash'jir on expansion day:
"Oh, wow.. the mobs have 30k health. Oh well, I'm more than a match for 30k, I can happily kick seven bells out of something with 200-300k"
-starts cutting them down casually-
"Hm.. they're a bit tougher than expected. They should be mincemeat by now"
-starts working harder-
"...these guys shouldn't be spawning this quickly, two more just showed up to replace that one.."
-starts hammering Sinister Strike-
"They.. just don't.. stop coming.."
-Pops Vanish-
"Okay.. they've dispersed.. time to heal up. Lets just swim up and -OH JESUS THAT'S A LOT OF NAGA! DPS GO GO GO"
-Pops Blade Flurry Killing Spree and entire arsenal of cooldowns-
"Oh nuts, all that's done is piss off their mates and n-"
-Dies-
"...well, that went well."
Welcome to Cataclysm.

Second boss in Throne of Tides. Tanking on my bear and took a one shot to the lips. I laughed, and still laugh at some of the damage that mobs do. It had been a long time since that happend.

I don't remember what my first death in Cataclysm was. (Do deaths on an alt I rolled of a new race/class combination after 4.0.1 count?) Probably Baron Geddon in Hyjal, since that was the first zone I did with my main and everyone else seems to have been hit by the same thing, but I'm not sure. If not him, it was probably in Blackrock Caverns.
But this makes me want to roll a "hardcore" (in the sense of Diablo II) alt, one that I'd try to play without dying. (No, I probably wouldn't delete the toon when and if I died, but it would be a lot less fun to play.) I wonder how far I could get. It would mean no PvP and only doing instances very carefully, but it still might be fun.
