The Daily Quest: All I see are green bars

WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
Sometimes I miss Molten Core. Not the silly let's run in and solo it Molten Core that we see today -- the old monstrosity that required 40 people. At least 20 of them needed to be competent at their class. And at least seven people had to have done the quest chain out in the middle of nowhere in Azshara for the Aqual Quintessence, or you wouldn't be able to get to Ragnaros. And you needed at least four warlocks for Garr's adds. And getting attuned required visiting an instance that ... you know, the more I think about it, the more I am reconsidering my position. But let's see what others have to say about raiding, shall we?
- Target Dummies gives us a few words on being a part-time progression raider.
- Totem Forest talks about combating healer tunnel vision in regards to raid frames.
- Bible of Dreams fills us in on what it takes to be a great raid leader.

I would love to do some serious raiding. Unfortunately due to my schedule I have to do it late at night, with pick up groups, if at all.
I thought picking a server on the west coast (I'm CST) would help alleviate some of my time conundrums, but it hasn't helped. I can't find a truly active late-night raiding guild to save my life. Even if I happen to pick up a raid around that time, their 'normal' times are during the light hours when I am (willingly) swamped with more important obligations.
If you are interested in the WoW endgame, you can:
1) Have a job, family, friends, socal occasions, significant other, and/or pet, and spend the appropriate amount of time to properly enjoy and appreciate each.
2) Raid consistently, 3 or more nights a week, see the tiers of content when they are meant to be seen, and enjoy the well-deserved feeling of accomplishment when you conquer each fight with your friends.
3) Sleep.
Choose two.

Try insomniaxe on the korialstrasz server, they are a pretty good raiding guild and as their name suggests their schedule might fit with you.

3 or more nights a week? This may be your problem. 2 nights a week should be enough for anyone. If you do have all these things, Wife, family, friends etc then you cant spend half you none work time raiding. That’s asking too much of them. And 2 nights a week in a decent guild will get you all the gear to stay competitive

I remember the days of hunters pets with Barron Gedon's bomb killing everyone in the Ironforge auction house. That and farming tubers on my off nights. Oh those were the days!

Just wanted to thank you for the Totem Forest link. I just hit level 20 on my shaman healer this weekend, and as much as I love it so far, I'll take anything I can get that makes me a better healer. ^_^ Definitely bookmarked that site.

I'm so glad to be raiding again. I'm super lucky that our guild caters to people like me who don't have very much time available to raid. We raid twice a week, 2 hours one night and 3 hours another night, and still make really good progress. Casual raiding, huzzah!
There's a new post up at Corath's Blog (http://corath.wordpress.com), called "Cataclysmic Beginnings, Part 1". I plan on eventually going through all the starting areas for the races to see what it's all like now. To begin with, we have the Goblin and Worgen areas.

Enjoy!

Guild leaders are like politicians. If you have a desire to be one you should automacticaly be banned from ever becoming one. The craving for power and control are not character traits you want in someone leading a nation or a guild. The problem is that if the guild leader is the most single minded, totally obsessed, fiercely determined member of your guild then they cannot empathise with the rest of their team mates.
I’ve seen it so many times, where the guild leader forgets that the vast majority of us come here to relax and have fun. We get stress all day at work. We are surrounded by formality and rules. We might even get it in the neck from the missus when we get home. Those few hours we get to play WoW are precious and we want to enjoy them. We’re really sorry if you have no life and make WoW the Black Hole around which your world revolves but YOU ARE NOT A TYPICAL RAIDER! And we are not your glorified hunters pet. You don’t point us in a particular direction and press KILL. We do not want to hear your rantings when things don’t go just the way you planned. We don’t want every single mistake we make paraded out in front of the whole guild. We want our guild to be a democracy not a dictatorship. We want to have a say in the decisions made and more than anything we want it to be fun.
I don’t mind someone /w me to tell me I should have interrupted a certain spell or even having a chat on vent about it. If I’m the only one continually dying then I will want to know why. But if you are doing raid progression and everyone is wiping then you just have to understand that we learn by mistakes and that an effective kill strategy ’evolves’. If you die at a certain point in the raid, next attempt you try something different. If you survive you keep it as part of your strategy, if not you try something else. No amount of lecturing, research, watching videos will ever replace this process because every single one of the 10/25 people in the raid see things from a different point of view. Everything they do may depend on the actions of any one of the other 9/24 members so it’s impossible to write a script for a boss kill. It has to evolve from the chaos of all these complex individuals all interacting together.
If you understand and except that then even raid progression can be fun. If not then don’t start a damn guild. Go invade a country or something but leave us to enjoy our raiding.

Agree, but if you keep dying to stupid shit I can't blame a raid leader for bashing you. I hate it when 9 people have to wait, and wipe, 5 tries until the last guy gets a mechanic. Now that's not how I wanna spend my game time.

I started a blog about my own experiences as a healadin and will have future thoughts, deconstruction, and questions about the class and its role.
The first real post went up today:

This week at Asilventures I discuss the junkyard that is my bank and how my hoarding habit is going a bit... out of control. More personal bank tabs please, Blizzard, I beg you! I need to collect more things!
