The Queue: Old Gods? In my dig site?

It's another Monday morning, which means it's time for another short edition of The Queue. Weekend recovery is always rough, because there's something about Sunday that drives the inquisitiveness out of all of you. I dread Super Bowl Sunday.
Doge asked:
Whenever I find a keystone in archaeology, I hear a certain many-toothed abomination say something. No text or anything, just the sound. Any idea why? It's quite disconcerting. Are my pursuits in archaeology making me fall under the sway of the Old Gods? Or is it just a bug?
As many readers said, that would be Deadly Boss Mods playing a trick on you. If you don't have DBM installed, then other mods have joined in on the fun.
fireplugly asked:
Is there a quest or a NPC that points the way to Tol Barad? I haven't seen anything like that, and it seems weird if I am expected to just wander over there without any in-game guidance.
Much like Wintergrasp, there isn't anything directing you toward the zone. If you use the Cataclysm portals at all, though, you'll discover it quite easily/naturally. The portal there is right with the others. No, nobody clearly tells you to go there, but it isn't hidden, either.
UnderwoodLynch asked:
I killed a quest mob in Mulgore on my gnome and Baine turned up, thanked me, and invited me back to his place. What do I bring?
As I don't believe I'm allowed to discuss the finer points of cannabis usage in the medieval era on this here blog, I recommend a Goblin Barbecue. Everybody loves a barbecue. Oh, and invest in resilience gear. As much resilience gear as you can find. Trust me.
Orkchop asked:
How come the WoW Insider show rarely has special guests? Do none of the other bloggers want to chat with Mike, Matt and Mat?
The dark secret behind the lack of special guests is the fact that Mike Sacco has breath so terrible you can smell it through voice chat, and only Matt and Mat are willing to expose themselves to it for extended lengths of time.
The story they like to tell people, however, is that since the podcast is recorded early in the day on a weekday, that eliminates most of the staff's ability to guest star since they have other day jobs or other responsibilities.

I'm kind of a profession-perfectionist, and I'm looking for a mod that will look at all my current professions and tell me which recipes I'm missing. This would be particularly useful for cooking but I'd like to fill in my missing blacksmithing patterns as well. Does anyone know if a mod like this exists?

Ackis recipe list, i believe is the mod of choice, dont if it's update for Cata though.

I used to have one that would show you which ones you didn't know, which ones you could learn, and which weren't yet trainable by you, but I cannot recall the name. "_____'s Profession Book" or something?
Gah. Wish I could be more help.
But there are addons out there that should be of assistance.

Ackis Recipe List is what I use.

Ackis Recipe List - Excellent addon to find out what you have left to learn! The beta version is being updated all the time!

I think Ackis Recipie List will do what you want. It works for all tradeskills and scans for the ones you don't have. It also tells you how to get the recipes you don't have for most of them (some it doesn't). You can pick it up here: http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/arl.aspx

That's the one!!
I stopped using it due to it's memory usage. Took forever to open my profession windows.

I use Ackis Recipe List for soothing my profession OCD.
Cephas Jan 31st 2011 11:24AM
Consider just trying to cope with the fact that you don't have all the recipes. You will probably end up spending a lot of gold and you still won't have all the recipes. I speak from experience when I say this.
Grovinofdarkhour Jan 31st 2011 11:48AM
I can confirm that Ackis has indeed been updated to include all currently known Cataclysm recipes.

Not going to lie, I'm not sure if it's worth it. No one (probably not even you, at this point) is going to care that you have the old +20 frost spell power enchant, or even +16 spell power enchant (both from AQ40, btw), because there are much better heirloom enchants out there (+30 spell power, for instance).
The only profession I can see that being useful for is inscription, since the mod would probably tell you which glyphs you're missing - very, VERY useful considering there are other "completionist" types who want a complete glyph list.

I accomplished this goal in vanilla with Leatherworking, Cooking and First Aid (rare anti-venom) right before TBC released ... I've never been able to do so since then. There's just too many and it's not worth it. Plus, I guess the game gives you more to do now as a solo player. That was my own personal achievement, but I guess now I have plenty of Achievements to go for. I also quested a lot. Made getting Loremaster and the Seeker pretty easy later on.

I am up over 360 tailoring recipe's now, using Ackis. If there hasnt been a stable, use the alpha releases.
On an RP server, people look for different looking armours all the time. Selling the old recipe's might actually happen in that case. Even old weapon enchants might sell if the person likes the glow on their weapon. When I first started playing I got a completely useless enchant on my staff simply for the glow, lol.

On the topic of Scribes, is there any way to get all the glyphs other than books of glyph mastery? I did all my researches to the point I was just getting scrolls. It seems everyone I talk to about it has a bunch short as well. I know inscription is the read headed step child of professions (at least for me) but this seems a crappy way to run things. Anything I have missed? Thanks!
Jack Spicer Jan 31st 2011 2:02PM
Seriously, don't do it! There are lots of stupid low level cross faction recipes that you are better off never knowing existed.
curzen Jan 31st 2011 2:11PM
The inability to complete professions is what turns me off from seriously leveling any other characters. Well, and doing 1 to 525 fishing is also a turnoff.
Schadenfreude Jan 31st 2011 2:42PM
It depends on the tradeskill-- my scribe knows every inscription recipe, but Jewelcrafting? Forget it. Some are harder than others. At least you can pick up the cheapo ones off the AH for your profession of choice.
Eirik Jan 31st 2011 2:45PM
@Saeadame: You missed a point in the conversation, friend. This is not for people wanting to get the Brightest and Shiniest. It is for the collectors, who Want Them All. Because they are there, not because they would be useful in any imaginable fashion.
WoW's equivalent to Beanie Babies, Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering cards, or postage stamps.
And you've pointed out a unique bit about Inscription: Glyphs will never become obsolete.

So questing in Twilight Highlands filled me with a most important question. Why is it that the female dragons there are in the guise of scantily clad Blood Elves while Calen is a completely covered Night Elf? Inquiring moonkin want to know.
Josin Jan 31st 2011 11:11AM
Hey, Chromie's a dude who looks like a lady, and he covers his naughty bits.
Maybe they just want to fit in with all the other blood elf females?
