The Queue: Old Gods? In my dig site?

It's another Monday morning, which means it's time for another short edition of The Queue. Weekend recovery is always rough, because there's something about Sunday that drives the inquisitiveness out of all of you. I dread Super Bowl Sunday.
Doge asked:
Whenever I find a keystone in archaeology, I hear a certain many-toothed abomination say something. No text or anything, just the sound. Any idea why? It's quite disconcerting. Are my pursuits in archaeology making me fall under the sway of the Old Gods? Or is it just a bug?
As many readers said, that would be Deadly Boss Mods playing a trick on you. If you don't have DBM installed, then other mods have joined in on the fun.
fireplugly asked:
Is there a quest or a NPC that points the way to Tol Barad? I haven't seen anything like that, and it seems weird if I am expected to just wander over there without any in-game guidance.
Much like Wintergrasp, there isn't anything directing you toward the zone. If you use the Cataclysm portals at all, though, you'll discover it quite easily/naturally. The portal there is right with the others. No, nobody clearly tells you to go there, but it isn't hidden, either.
UnderwoodLynch asked:
I killed a quest mob in Mulgore on my gnome and Baine turned up, thanked me, and invited me back to his place. What do I bring?
As I don't believe I'm allowed to discuss the finer points of cannabis usage in the medieval era on this here blog, I recommend a Goblin Barbecue. Everybody loves a barbecue. Oh, and invest in resilience gear. As much resilience gear as you can find. Trust me.
Orkchop asked:
How come the WoW Insider show rarely has special guests? Do none of the other bloggers want to chat with Mike, Matt and Mat?
The dark secret behind the lack of special guests is the fact that Mike Sacco has breath so terrible you can smell it through voice chat, and only Matt and Mat are willing to expose themselves to it for extended lengths of time.
The story they like to tell people, however, is that since the podcast is recorded early in the day on a weekday, that eliminates most of the staff's ability to guest star since they have other day jobs or other responsibilities.

Because dragons choose humanoid forms based on their own individual personalities, and Calen just happens to be more night-elf-like than most dragons? Because female dragons have no concept of modesty? Because no one would dare sexually harass a dragon?
(Seriously, because WoW players are probably 60 percent male or more, and it's called fan service. But there are a ton of potential explanations in the world if you really need one.)

Darn you Josin I know have that song stuck in my head ....
*cry*

I know at least one female dragon that doesn't use the blood elf mortal form.. (Rheastrazsa)
Now, I also know that Alex and Ysera has the same model, but Ysera still seems a lot more night elvish. But that might just be me :O
Grovinofdarkhour Jan 31st 2011 11:49AM
Because all dragons are whores.
Grovinofdarkhour Jan 31st 2011 11:50AM
Except Calen. Missed that part.
Bapo Jan 31st 2011 12:16PM
Personally, I like the Ysera version better than Alex version. I think it has to do with seeing Blood Elves for the past 2 expansions... O_o

Chromie is NOT a guy.
It's been stated over and over again. She is a she. Even some quests refer to "her". Her TCG card also refers to her as a her.
Her name was created before the naming convention for Bronze dragons. In fact, only ONE Bronze dragon who is male is named after the naming convention.
Kay Jan 31st 2011 12:42PM
@Josin
Hey, Chromie's a lady, dude. The masculine name's just there to confuse folks.
(yes i know it's meant to be ambiguous, but i wanna believe!)
Fierna Jan 31st 2011 12:46PM
Where was canonically it stated Chrmoie is a lady dragon?
Josin Jan 31st 2011 12:55PM
Can you prove Chromie's not a guy? Nope, because under the robe is a lot of alpha channeled polygons.
I could take your word on it, but my way's funnier and more fun, IMO. (I like the idea that a dragon would be playful enough to take a gender-bending humanoid form.)
And like Fox Mulder (the original cool Fox... sorry, Van Allen) I want to believe.
Drakkenfyre Jan 31st 2011 1:04PM
I would have to dig up the quests, but some of them that send you to her say "her".
Also, I THINK at BlizzCon it was asked, and they said "she."
People jump on the Bronze dragon naming convention, but Chromie was named before that was created, and only one male dragon actually follows it.
People say "but she has a beard in dragon form!", that's because she uses the standard dragon model, which does.
Also, check out pounii's comment about her description in the official magazine.

Just wanted to interject: Blizz... please put this cape model in game! I LOVE Alexstraza's gear, and yes, I'm a girl - the bikini top doesn't bother me ;-)

I think the female blood elf model is used because their stance is more "interesting" I guess you could say than some others. Their idle stance is sort of casual and relaxed, while the angle of their head looks kind of inquisitive, so it seems like they're judging you when you approach them. The human female model would be sort of creepy in my opinion, the way they stand rigidly with the blank stare of a post lobotomy patient.
As for the skimpy clothes, does it actually bother you? Really?

Do you guys know of any wow audio-books?
Ive been trying to get my GF to love questing as much as i do and i think showing her how amazingly deep the whole wow universe is could really get her started.

The only Audiobook thats been released is Richard Knakk's Stormrage (dont worry, its probably Knaak's best work)
coreycubed Jan 31st 2011 11:45AM
If that's his best, I'd hate to read the rest of his work. It flowed like bad fanfiction.
calaf Jan 31st 2011 11:59AM
Stormrage is your only option. I kinda hated it and it almost put me off the Wow books as it was the first one i read. I later read some others I enjoyed including Day of the Dragon by Knaak which i thought was MUCH better. Stormrage was just a mess.
