The Queue: Ackis != Arrakis

The above is a very important point to make.
While you can make spicy things with the help of Ackis, you cannot mine spice like you do on Arrakis. This can be very confusing to nerds of the tenth power like myself, but hopefully today's Queue has cleared this all up.
And if you don't get the above picture, I'm sure someone will tell you about it in the comments relatively early on.
Greatmario asked:
I'm kind of a profession perfectionist, and I'm looking for a mod that will look at all my current professions and tell me which recipes I'm missing. This would be particularly useful for cooking, but I'd like to fill in my missing blacksmithing patterns as well. Does anyone know if a mod like this exists?
The mod you want is called Ackis (Curse link). It will display everything for you. The beta version of it is updated often enough, and I've loaded that up if the release version is missing something.
Josin asked:
I think you guys should have Cutaia sit in on the [podcast] chat sometime. Or Drakkenfyre? Grab a regular commenter who usually has good (or controversial) viewpoints, and haul them in to mix things up.
That's a good idea, and one that we've thrown around before. I'm not too sure that it'll happen in the near future, though.
One thing that we do encourage everyone to do is submit Breakfast Topics to us through our Seed program. We take a serious look at every article that's submitted, although it's not hard for us to say, "Oh hey, look, Cutaia wrote this, and he's bringing some of his awesome comments to us in article form."
Galestrom asked:
What are the various options out there for capturing gameplay video?
There are a ton of options these days. You mentioned Fraps in the comment you left, and that's pretty much the de facto standard. I'd be hard-pressed to find something better than that. There is, however, built-in video recording on the Mac version of WoW, and that works okay -- not great, but okay.

There's a thread on the forums in which someone came up with a theory about the drake assignment for Halfus - http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/1965993203
If this theory is correct, the US should have Slate, Time and whelps this week. Has anyone Eye of Kilrogged/stealthed/mind visioned in to see whether that is indeed the drake combination, or would someone be a dear and go do that to satisfy my vulgar curiosity?
Matthew Feb 1st 2011 11:12AM
Sadly, mine will have all the drakes up. Fun time = heroic time.
Nina Katarina Feb 1st 2011 11:41AM
A friend mind visioned in and confirmed that for the US it is Slate, Time and whelps. This would mean that EU/TW/KR will have Nether, Slate and Time if the theory holds out. So the folks who aren't in hardcore yet can give their rogue a week off.
Joshuasiclest Feb 1st 2011 11:57AM
our comp is slate nether storm same as last week
pancakes Feb 1st 2011 5:03PM
We had slate storm nether last week (US realm). We were expecting so many wipes, but then we 3 shot it & that made us happy.
Super Guest Man 9000 Feb 1st 2011 9:54PM
I can confirm Slate, Time, and Whelps for US realms.

Another interesting fact, if you hug the right wall, around the middle of the passage between the entrance and the first small set of stairs at the end (ie before any trash) you can /tar and check all of them, no need for any fancy class based tricks!

Question for The Queue:
How does one submit articles via Seed? Do we have to wait until there's an open call for submissions, or is there a way to direct something to WoW Insider?
Prances in Underpantss Feb 1st 2011 12:04PM
Sometimes you can go to the Seed website and find topics that you can submit articles for WoW Insider (there's also many other websites you can submit articles for), but usually, there will be some sort of "Call for Posts" article on this website with a specific link you need to click on to submit articles through Seed.
Task Feb 1st 2011 12:04PM
This was answered before, but I'll summarize it.
Basically you have to be a resident of the US to submit an article to SEED because AOL is based there and as such, they are the company that maintains this and Joystiq, and Massively if I am not mistaken.
Someone can correct me if I am wrong on some parts, or add on to this.
Spellotape Feb 1st 2011 12:18PM
Alas, it would be nice to hear what non-US citizens were pondering sometimes.
(cutaia) Feb 1st 2011 12:41PM
They used to put out a call for posts on a regular basis with very short deadlines. It seems that these days they tend to leave the calls open longer but do them less often, so if you've got a good idea, don't think to yourself, "Eh...I'll do it next time."
Although, if you'd like my advice...I'd continue checking the site today if you're looking for the next Call for Submissions. Just sayin'.
Maymer Feb 1st 2011 1:55PM
All I can say is that I encourage everyone to at least give it a try. It not only is a blast to come up with conversational topics with the community, but as Cutaia can back me up on (I can only hope he will), the feeling of seeing your work published and fellow members of WoW Insider giving there feedback is astronomically amazing.
It is as if all the adorable animals that have been featured on The Queue were thrown in a box, jumbled up a bit with your favorite Internet meme, tossed in a dash of Rossi's beard, and then morph it into one entity....times 42. Yeah, it's THAT awesome feeling.
So, if (which it probably is) Cutaia's prediction is correct, make a Seed account, and write up a Breakfast Topic :)
And hopefully, one morning, we can reply and enjoy the lovely creation's that you have submitted.
CDave Feb 1st 2011 2:08PM
OMG CUTAIA YOU'RE BACK!!! Where have you been all my life??
Dreyja Feb 1st 2011 7:47PM
The only problem with this method is that it the Canadians and other people (not worth mentioning, I KEED, I KEED!) are out of the running. Now this is unless there is a way around the SEED thing for the international peeps. :)
Reklisc Feb 2nd 2011 6:19PM
Yeah, what Dreyja pointed out has to be the most obvious problem with getting Breakfast Topics. As far as I can tell, a pretty big chunk of this sites regular visitors are from Europe, and a handful of us are Canadian, and I see commentors from South America and Africa every so often, so the whole SEED thing's USA-only limitation is really holding back on Breakfast Topic submissions.
They used to have "please send in Breakfast Topics" articles fairly often for a while, and has only happened a couple of times since 4.0.3 hit, so maybe more Americans have been turned on to the Breakfast Topic submissions, and even more traffic from American players, but that's still a lot of people being left out.

That reminds me, I think we're out of taco seasoning.

Mom just bought some. Check the pantry.
