The Queue: Ackis != Arrakis

The above is a very important point to make.
While you can make spicy things with the help of Ackis, you cannot mine spice like you do on Arrakis. This can be very confusing to nerds of the tenth power like myself, but hopefully today's Queue has cleared this all up.
And if you don't get the above picture, I'm sure someone will tell you about it in the comments relatively early on.
Greatmario asked:
I'm kind of a profession perfectionist, and I'm looking for a mod that will look at all my current professions and tell me which recipes I'm missing. This would be particularly useful for cooking, but I'd like to fill in my missing blacksmithing patterns as well. Does anyone know if a mod like this exists?
The mod you want is called Ackis (Curse link). It will display everything for you. The beta version of it is updated often enough, and I've loaded that up if the release version is missing something.
Josin asked:
I think you guys should have Cutaia sit in on the [podcast] chat sometime. Or Drakkenfyre? Grab a regular commenter who usually has good (or controversial) viewpoints, and haul them in to mix things up.
That's a good idea, and one that we've thrown around before. I'm not too sure that it'll happen in the near future, though.
One thing that we do encourage everyone to do is submit Breakfast Topics to us through our Seed program. We take a serious look at every article that's submitted, although it's not hard for us to say, "Oh hey, look, Cutaia wrote this, and he's bringing some of his awesome comments to us in article form."
Galestrom asked:
What are the various options out there for capturing gameplay video?
There are a ton of options these days. You mentioned Fraps in the comment you left, and that's pretty much the de facto standard. I'd be hard-pressed to find something better than that. There is, however, built-in video recording on the Mac version of WoW, and that works okay -- not great, but okay.

They will probably just stick them on the trainer in the next content patch.

I know that this has been asked half a hundred times throughout the expansions, but...
If I wanted to start reading the Warcraft books (I've never read any of them), what book (or book series?) should I start with? and what order would be recommended to finish the rest?
VioletArrows Feb 1st 2011 8:08PM
http://wow.joystiq.com/2009/09/09/wow-rookie-reading-about-warcraft/ Although, before you start those, you could really start with The Shattering since that's 'now', then go back to the beginning to see how everyone got to now. Especially going through the WotA trilogy after the Shattering, since according to Knaak, the Sundering was also partially Deathwing's fault.
And thank you for reminding me, as I got my Kindle a bit ago and have a few but not all the books.

I found the following guide useful. It is slightly more up to date and includes summaries of the novels. I do agree with the recommendation to start with Christie Golden's The Shattering.

Funny, I would have thought Tolkien would own that. Or his estate, maybe, lol....

I think Sting is taking this whole tantric sex thing a bit too far.

As a demo lock, I noticed that Decimation doesn't set off any flashy things like Molten Core. This is a real pain, because whenever Decimation is up, I should be casting that instead of Incinerate. Is there a setting somewhere that makes certain things go flashy-flashy? Or, alternately, is there a mod that will do that for me?

Today I encountered a player using some kind of roleplay-addon that yelled a bunch of battlecries across the zone. Not only was he cross-faction, I was using /ignore I was STILL bombarded with messages every ~30 seconds. Is there a way to block chat that goes beyond /ignore?

Is there a way to via macro to easily switch between Full Screen (Windowed) and Full Screen video settings?
I like to switch it frequently to move WoW to my second monitor (like when in a queue)
Thanks!

I think it requires a game restart. I run in windowed, but slide the taskbar to the top of the screen, it makes me less likely to accidentally panic-click and end up with...I don't know, a command prompt or something. Nothing like seeing '1112241112423' in a DOS window.
Alex Feb 2nd 2011 2:11AM
Can't be that. Do it all the time via the in game menu without any restarting. :P

/console gxWindow 1
/console gxMaximize 1
/console gxRestart
/console gxWindow 0
/console gxRestart
Toggles windowed mode. May not exactly be what you're looking for but it's a start - it's got the Cvars you need to play with.

What is the best auction addon without a huge load (basically not massive like Auctioneer)?
MichaelBerean Feb 2nd 2011 11:06AM
Auctionator is the most popular smaller auction hall addon I think.

I'm buying my wife a Mac laptop soon. She already has an account and plays on her PC. Will she have to re-purchase everything for Mac or just download the client from Blizzard?
Drakkenfyre Feb 2nd 2011 9:54AM
Just redownload the game.
Your account is what matters. It doesn't matter what system you play on, what discs you use, or who's computer you log in on, only the account matters.
If you have the Cataclysm DVD, just pop that in, and install it. It will have the Mac version, too. Then you just need to patch up.
