The Queue: Ackis != Arrakis

The above is a very important point to make.
While you can make spicy things with the help of Ackis, you cannot mine spice like you do on Arrakis. This can be very confusing to nerds of the tenth power like myself, but hopefully today's Queue has cleared this all up.
And if you don't get the above picture, I'm sure someone will tell you about it in the comments relatively early on.
Greatmario asked:
I'm kind of a profession perfectionist, and I'm looking for a mod that will look at all my current professions and tell me which recipes I'm missing. This would be particularly useful for cooking, but I'd like to fill in my missing blacksmithing patterns as well. Does anyone know if a mod like this exists?
The mod you want is called Ackis (Curse link). It will display everything for you. The beta version of it is updated often enough, and I've loaded that up if the release version is missing something.
Josin asked:
I think you guys should have Cutaia sit in on the [podcast] chat sometime. Or Drakkenfyre? Grab a regular commenter who usually has good (or controversial) viewpoints, and haul them in to mix things up.
That's a good idea, and one that we've thrown around before. I'm not too sure that it'll happen in the near future, though.
One thing that we do encourage everyone to do is submit Breakfast Topics to us through our Seed program. We take a serious look at every article that's submitted, although it's not hard for us to say, "Oh hey, look, Cutaia wrote this, and he's bringing some of his awesome comments to us in article form."
Galestrom asked:
What are the various options out there for capturing gameplay video?
There are a ton of options these days. You mentioned Fraps in the comment you left, and that's pretty much the de facto standard. I'd be hard-pressed to find something better than that. There is, however, built-in video recording on the Mac version of WoW, and that works okay -- not great, but okay.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of sapho that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past me I will turn to see fear's path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
It is by the beans of java that the thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
Take another sip of the coffee.

@Psychechan:
That needs to be a t-shirt.

Reply fail.
My apologies, Psykechan.

I must not lag.
Lag is the raid-killer.
Lag is the high-ping that brings a total wipe.
I will face my lag.
I will wish it to pass over me and ignore me.
And when latency has gone green I will run the trace route to see my path.
Where the lag has gone there will be no latency.
Only loot will remain.

I'm having question about Wrathgate. I have done the questline in time of wotlk and have raided icc for a long time, even managed to kill LK. What I don't understand is how Bolvar is still alive when we fight LK and when did LK recover body of Saurfang Jr.
ra712851 Feb 1st 2011 11:23AM
It's actually very well explained in the "Know your Lore" section. Check out Bolvar, Wrathgate, etc..
kingoomieiii Feb 1st 2011 11:28AM
The Lich King tried to remove Bolvar's soul like he did to Saurfang, but was stopped by Putress. I suspect Alexstrasza's flame breath sealed Bolvar's soul in there as it was making it crispy, so when the Lich King came back and got him, the soul was... stuck in there, keeping Bolvar as some odd combination of living/undead. During the Yogg, fight, you see LK trying to break Bolvar with torture, as Saurfang looks on, already loyal (LK already owns his soul).
Neirin Feb 1st 2011 11:32AM
Bolvar is kept alive by Alexstrasza's flames (that's why he's all red and glow-y)- she is the Life Binder after all.
As for the collection of Saurfang's corpse (and Bolvar's capture), there's a small time leap between the cut scene and the red dragonflight securing the wrath gate. Not a big leap - just long enough for them to route and fleeing scourge or forsaken - but an enterprising minion of the LK would have ample time to carry a couple corpses away.

Question for the Queue:
Is there a way to alter the soundfiles to play specific songs on loop instead of zone songs?
I really want to turn Twilight Highlands into one giant dub step fiesta.
Revynn Feb 1st 2011 11:54AM
Ctrl+M + iTunes?
Noselacri Feb 1st 2011 11:58AM
The goal would be for a zone change to institute a musical change to a specific song, or specific variety of songs without having to alt-tab ;)
Bapo Feb 1st 2011 12:11PM
I used to use an addon called Finalfantasylization. It came with soundpacks, but the author had to remove them. The music would change based on what type of zone you entered / town. I believe that the author also posted how to make your own playlist. It covered zones, towns, swimming, combat, and being on a mount too.
*Update* after checking curse, it's unfortunately not updated for 4.0, and not even available atm :(
EpicMusicPlayer was another I used, though you couldn't set it up per zone, and you made your own playlist
Debesun Feb 1st 2011 12:14PM
No idea if it will work, but you might be able to use an MPQ editor to remove / rename the particular music file you don't want and add the music you wish to use and rename it the same as the previous file. With any luck, when you go into the zone and WoW goes to access the respective music it needs, it'll just grab the one with the correct name that it's looking for and just play that. I guess it might also work the same with removing gun 'pow' sounds that some people hate but I've never really could get myself in the mood to go screwing about with the mpq archives beyond just browsing the music files and listening to them.
You might also need to try and find other variations of the same file as some zones tend to have the same music file in different 'flavours'. Like how Grizzly Hills and Stormpeaks had multiple different music files dependant on the day / night cycle or the sub-zones of the actual zone.
Anyway, info that you might find useful but not totally related to the problem-

There's at least 2 link that you will find useful. Mainly the first link so you can kind of see how it works and another link to either download the Mac or Windows version.
Don't blame me if this idea or your WoW client doesn't work as it should anymore because as above, I've never tried it :P

Altering game files is a violation of the EULA or TOS or some such. I doubt Blizzard goes after music alterations, but it's worth mentioning.
Tabasa Feb 1st 2011 2:13PM
I use an addon called Soundtrack, it lets you use your own music for just about anything you want in the game. In addition to zone music, you can pretty easily set it up to play something specific when in combat with a particular mob, effectively letting you add "boss" music to instances. You can also have it grab the music files that are already in-game to use wherever you like also, in case there's any zone music you'd like to also play somewhere else.

It takes a bit of set-up to get working, but all of the instructions should be pretty well explained on the site.
