WoW Insider's Weekly Webcomic: Safe Passage
Welcome to another edition of WoW Insider's Weekly Comic, Safe Passage. This comic takes place post-Cataclysm, so there will be minor spoilers.
Stories are told and hostilities explained in today's comic. The thing people tend to forget is that there is always more than one side to a situation -- Ash'gor is just speaking from one of many.
Check out the full comic right here, and tune in next Tuesday morning for a new page. You can also see all the previous pages in the gallery below.

That last panel may be the most epic thing I've have ever seen in a WoW comic.
Anyone agree?

LOVE the hungry eyes with which the troll is gazing at the bird.
Let there be noms!

I wonder what owl tastes like.
Cadychan Feb 1st 2011 6:08PM
@Blayze - Probably really tough and stringy.

The entire Camp Massacre stinks of Twilight Cult if you ask me. Seems like they had agents either in the human ranks themselves or caused a message or two in the alliance ranks to go missing leading to it.
Shanic Feb 1st 2011 4:44PM
No...sadly it wasn't. But this is a Horde viewpoint of the story. The following is the Alliance:
An Alliance General ordered an attack on Camp Taurajo with the idea in mind of no casualities - he waited for the braves to leave to avoid conflict entirely. He deliberately ordered a hole in the line be made so the civilians could evacuate. The hole was there, that's how some escape, but it was quickly closed. And then the place was firebombed by the Dwarves with civilians inside of it.
There's some more to it, but it's...well it gets messy, let me put it to you that way.
But no, no Twilights Hammer involvement.
CrimsonKing Feb 1st 2011 5:03PM
That could very well be possible, given the fact that in the Shattering novel it was shown to be the Twilight Hammer causing most of the current hostilities between the Horde and Alliance when they were framing the Horde for murders of Night Elves. Maybe the Twilight had something to do with this as well since it is proven in the pre-Twilight Highlands quests that the Alliance has been infiltrated by them.
Also remember though the general who ordered the attack didn't want there to be the slaughter that there was, he saw no value in killing or even imprisoning civilians, it could be possible that some of his troops didn't see things his way though and decided to kill all they saw, Alliance players do have to go and imprison those looters who were part of the Alliance attack on Taurajo but had gone AWOL.

Weren't the camp looters conscripts pulled from the Stockade who went troppo? There was explicit mention in the Alliance side of the quest line somewhere.
Shanic Feb 1st 2011 7:32PM
@deepred
Yep. As I mentioned, Southern Barrens is a messy affair. :|

I just wanted to comment that I play both Alliance and Horde and I consider myself to be neutral in the 'who's worse' debate because I can see both sides of it. Blizzard intentionally designs quests and the lore so that you can have a valid argument in favour of either side. When I'm playing Alliance I'm immersed in their lore and when I'm playing Horde I have faction pride there too.
That being said, I have never, ever, had a reaction to a quest in this game like the one I did when I did Honoring the Dead. That's the Horde quest where you set the spirits of the civilians who died in Taurajo free. These are NPCs that you're familiar with if you've levelled in the area - the flightmaster, leatherworking, tailoring and skinning trainers.
Omusa's Spirit says: No, stay with the others. Escort them north, away from the fighting. I will stay here with the wyverns and cover your escape. Go!
Omusa's Spirit says: ...wait, it is over? I've been run through... Ah. Of course. I understand now. I am expected elsewhere.
Yonada's Spirit says: Alliance - they've surrounded the camp! What are they doing here? Why are they attacking Taurajo? Get the children - run! RUN!
Krulmoo's Spirit says: I ran to wake up the others when the attack hit. Were they able to escape? I tried to fight off the soldiers with a skinning knife...
Dranh's Spirit says: I can feel the embrace now of all living things, the Earthmother's eternal peace. Thank you.
When Omusa's spirit hopped on the windrider and flew up into the sun, I'll admit to having a lump in my throat. And I came out of there wanting to tear the Alliance limb from limb.

Before people start whining about what happened remember this is the Hordes point of view. On a side note Amazing work as always Miss Aarons. Please keep it up.
Kunikenwad! Feb 1st 2011 4:23PM
I find the night elf's attitude toward the burning of the camp to be a tad unrealistic; she was all about slaughtering Horde a few strips ago and now she's apologizing for a whole faction?
UNLESS!
*dramatic chipmunk turn*
She's only paying them lip service and intends to hand them over to Alliance authorities! The plot thickens!
Gossamer Feb 1st 2011 6:13PM
There's a large difference between killing armed soldiers and slaughtering civilians.
Ktok Feb 2nd 2011 2:05AM
Especially armed soldiers who you think may be kidnapping children. Circumstances are quite different in these two cases.
alpha5099 Feb 1st 2011 4:28PM
That last panel was god damn perfect.
