I'm still confused about something regarding SI:7's supposed attempts to kidnap/capture Thrall:
The shattering makes it seem as though Thrall and Aggra leave for the Maelstrom directly, thus how the hell would SI:7 even know to ambush them? And kidnapping/capturing/killing Thrall makes less tactical sense for Varian/Matthias/etc to do than for the Twilight Cult/Deathwing to do. The Lo'Gosh side of Varian wouldn't want to do it as it would be beneath him, the Varian side of Varian would know it would set off full blown war between the factions that neither side can truly afford. Not to mention probably make Jaina go super-saiyan on him (as well as his own son probably).
It just doesn't follow any sort of logical sense for the Alliance to pull that sort of stunt. I could however TOTALLY see Deathwing or his agents realizing that this would surely keep both sides in open conflict, thus ensuring nobody has the time or resources to fight the cult where it appears.
I'm trying to give the Blizzard folk the benefit of the doubt on this one, but the half-assed crap tossed out in The Shattering makes my head hurt (from a writer's perspective).

The only problem is that the quest chain makes it pretty clear that it's an alliance attempt, though it may well be that there are factions within the alliance working at cross-purposes to each other. I don't recall any indication whatsoever that the Twighlight Hammer is involved.
The Alliance just has to wear this one.

@clundrgren But that's the problem: the quest chain says it's the Alliance doing it, but it doesn't explain HOW they knew where to ambush the ship in the first place. Nobody explains who gave the 'order' anywhere else in game (or in book), so for the moment I guess the Alliance bears the brunt of it, but it's only because we have no other information than the SI:7 agents there. The Horde doesn't know WHY or HOW, the Alliance doesn't seem to either, so there's still a TON of questions about that whole business as far as I can tell.
