And what do you think these changes bring to PVP? Sadly I am one of those arena players who likes to play with two of his friends, not finding the best team composition, but working with what we have. Right now we are holy paladin (me), unholy DK and my boyfriend who is the dps paladin (I did not say ret, because first we tried prot paladin and now we are trying with retribution). What we really miss is retribution's magic dispell (I wish they havent taken it away). I feel Rebuke for me as holy will help a little, but right now one unsuccessful attempt to LOS a CC means I am standing in sheep/fear/etc. most of the time. When my friend played prot we did not have problem with survival, but since he went retribution, he feels very squishy and a bit low on dps. Sacred Shield does not feel strong enough to compensate this squishyness, and I dont feel these changes will bring enough dps to be competitive with other similar teams (like holy paladin-dk-warrior). Right now he is leveling his warrior, but I hoped these changes would let him stay with his favorite class/spec, retribution.

Survivability is going up, damage is going down for ret in pvp. Prot pally IMHO is much better for pvp - much much better survivability, significantly better in terms of stuns/snares/interrupts, and the ability to do at least some decent ranged damage.Holy Power has been awful for ret's usefulness in pvp. While burst/dps isn't what it was in wrath of the lich king, Ret has a HUGE ramp up time, I mean like far longer than any other class I can think of. It's just really rough for ret right now - I'd say you can probably get some use of it until the patch, but once the patch hits, unless there is some bug that doubles the damage of judgement or TV, it's going to be hard for rets to be competitive in PVP.

We ran into a fantastic ret/rogue combination yesterday - I don't know what he was doing, if all his stars aligned or something, but the paladin very nearly killed me (disc priest) - down to 4k health at one point. He didn't, though, which I guess is the problem - he should have been able to, with me not playing as well as I should have done.
