The problem is that WoW has really run its course with Cataclysm. There really isn't much that can be done to make the game "better." From this point on it will always be fresh paint on the same old barn. So now you have a bunch of people who are unhappy with the game and have no place else to go at the moment so they're on the forums complaining rather than in the game playing.
And the communities themselves were ruined with LFD and duel spec. LFD meant that you no longer needed people on your realm and people could be jerks with no reprisals. Duel spec took the Role out of RPG. What's the point of having a role in a role playing game when everyone can have multiple roles? It just waters down the whole experience of actually having to choose a role to play.
Also, they should have never allowed people to have both Alliance and Horde toons on the same realm. That was a big mistake.

I agree, you knew the community was doomed when people kept talking about "duel" specs. How can you have discourse with people who won't communicate properly?

The latest argument is for everyone to have all 3 specs. I'm sure you've seen that one.

Merely "all 3"? :-) But... but... there are my four druid solo and 5-man PvE specs, my four druid PvP specs, my twelve druid raid specs... three simply isn't enough, I tell you!
