The Queue: Historical figure

Apparently when someone mentions a pop star in a Queue intro, we get 200 comments in which people pretend they're too cool to know about said pop star or talk about how much they hate said pop star, rather than questions about World of Warcraft. So I'm gonna go ahead and nip that trend right in the bud by giving you the polar opposite of that intro.
Here's a historical figure you probably can't name, or if you can name him, you don't know anything about him besides his name and his title. If you do, good for you. I don't care. Ask me World of Warcraft questions.
Mary asked:
Will the Valentine's Day bosses be dropping Cata-level epics this year, or will it still be the same old Wrath stuff?
Probably not epics, but there are some level 85 blues on Wowhead that look like they'll be dropping off of the Love is in the Air bosses.
Arcsire asked:
So I was questing through Uldum the other day, and something struck me as odd. In on of the first few cutscenes in the zone, you witness a djinn (whose name escapes me) remove the Curse of Flesh from the Neferset. Now, unless I'm missing something, aren't the djinn servants of Al'Akir, and by extension of the Old Gods? Why would the Old Gods want any part of their army to be less vulnerable to their corruption?
Well, they can't be that much less vulnerable -- after all, they got afflicted by the curse in the first place, didn't they? Besides, stone catdudes are much more durable than fleshy catdudes.
Daan.leijen asked:
Does anyone have a clue as to where Ghostcrawler wandered off to? Haven't seen him post in days.
It's been much longer than days. The developers have been largely hands off where the new forums are concerned; GC hasn't really posted all since the changeover. For a while, it seemed like he would be doing regular blogs, like the ones he did about healing and tanking, but after how poorly received his "Wow! Dungeons are Hard!" post was, I'm suspecting it'll be a while before we hear from him again. I'd like to be proven wrong, though.
Chris asked:
With all the class changes coming in Patch 4.0.6, are the talent points getting reset for all classes?
Unlikely. In previous patches, only classes with extensive talent reworks got their talent points reset. It doesn't appear that there are enough fundamental changes for most classes to warrant resets.

Yes, talents are getting shuffled. A little. And it looks like all the Warlocks who specced into Improved Soulfire are going to want to respec if they want optimal DPS builds again.
But that doesn't mean that we're getting free respecs, because it won't make the characters either unrecognizable or unplayable.
I believe that the Blues are on-record as stating that nobody's getting a free respec out of this patch.

Dang. I should've checked the site sooner. Others beat me to naming Zachary Taylor, our 12th president. Notable for...I dunno...being in the army a long time and dying in office, resulting in one of the shortest terms a president served.

I coulda sworn I heard something months ago about Blizz wanting to use their "scaling" technology (such as with heirlooms) to make it possible for higher-level toons to temporarily adopt the stats to match a much lower-level partner. Y'know, so your main can actually quest with your level 32 gf/bf without having to roll an alt or just roflstomping through content, for example.
Is this idea still in the works? Scrapped? Or am I remembering wrong and it was just some players' wishful thinking, rather than an actual Blizz-proposed idea?
JT Feb 4th 2011 1:29PM
I don't recall hearing anything about Blizz doing that, but CoH/CoV does it really well. That'd be a cool feature for sure. I kind of get the idea that Blizz would prefer us to just buy all the heirlooms and level a new toon though.
loop_not_defined Feb 4th 2011 6:10PM
They said in some video interview leading up to Cata that they wanted to do it eventually, and that both Heirlooms and the new scaling of Abilities (no more multiple ranks) were steps in that direction. It didn't sound like it was very high on the infinite "List of Things To Do," though.

Come back, Oh Ghostcrawler! Oh paragon of seafood sagacity! We understand and accept that heroics are hard, we won't complain any more! (Oh, who am I kidding, people will complain about the rain being wet.)
JT Feb 4th 2011 1:24PM
Rain is just fine, but Thunder is a little OP atm with the current gear levels and imho Wind could really use a buff. Does anyone seriously even play that class anymore?
Dreyja Feb 4th 2011 2:53PM
Seriously! I love this man and I feel like the QQ attack is all about removing any amount of personality from blue posts. :(
Come back GC, the quiet majority really appreciate you!
Plus, I have the ghostcrawler pet now and his name is Gregstreeet. I'd like it if people actually understand who that is in tribute to. :)
Nipah Feb 4th 2011 8:57PM
Maybe he's becoming Tseric 2.0.
Linkie Feb 4th 2011 12:09PM
Here's a wow question:
When will the statistics tab be updated for cataclysm statistics? Wondering how many times I've done Stonecore for Leaden Despair now.
Rezai Feb 4th 2011 11:32AM
So I finally did the worgen starting zone. Besides the fact that I feel really dirty for killing all those poor forsaken (I tried to offer my level 85 as a sacrifice for my betrayel to Sylvanas but she just kept giving me random emotes) I noticed that Sylvanas lies says she is not going to use the plague unless Garrosh tells her she can. She then uses it anyways.
If I remember, in Silverpine, when Sylvanas shows Garrosh how she makes new forsaken there are a ton of plague carrying machines just laying around. Is Garrosh so mad he overlooks them? Shouldn't that have been the first thing he sees? It wasn't like she was trying to hide them.
N-train Feb 4th 2011 11:35AM
Well supposedly she's only using a very dilute and weak version of the plague. There are some parts of the Forsaken zones that suggest that this is, in fact, the case (people complaining about poor weaponry, having their hands tied, etc.) and there are other times where it's implied she's using it at full capacity. To my understanding, its kind of contradictory.
mingdi9 Feb 4th 2011 11:50AM
Actually, on thinking about it, I'm not sure where it's suggested that the Forsaken are using the full version of the plague; after all, we saw how devastating it was during the Wrathgate cinematic and I don't think we ever see anything on that scale in any of the Cata zones.
That said, the plaguing of Southshore was probably stronger than what we see in Silverpine Forest (though still possibly weaker than the plague at the Wrathgate), but at the same time, the plaguing of Southshore happened before the events in Silverpine Forest, so it's quite possible that in the intervening time period between the plaguing of Southshore and the invasion of Gilneas that Garrosh sent down the order to not use the full strength of the plague.
pandaba Feb 4th 2011 6:30PM
@mingdi9
Seems like the full strength plague was used at Southshore. Though, with some of the Forsaken in Hillsbrad going rogue, this might be the exception that proves the official Forsaken stance is to use diluted plague. Or, gives them a cover for deniability.
Knowing the Forsaken approach to realpolitik and their rigid top-down command structure, I'm certain the latter is true.
Adarin Feb 4th 2011 11:36AM
What's up with the Skullcrusher quest line in Twighlight Highlands? Is there any hope of Blizz fixing the bugs? There are tons of posts on the forums but no responses from any blues and the in-game GMs are useless.
Leorad Feb 4th 2011 12:02PM
That bug has been fixed. Successfully completed on 3 toons since the fix went live.
Ickabob Feb 4th 2011 11:37AM
On the issue of Ghostcrawler not posting anything lately, do you think we scared him into hiding?
Artificial Feb 4th 2011 1:40PM
Scared? No. That wouldn't make any sense. He has nothing to fear from the mob. The crowd carrying torches can't reach his yacht, and if they try to swim out to it, it puts out their torches.
More likely he's decided it's not worth the effort. Pearls before swine and such...
Chairman Kaga Feb 4th 2011 1:56PM
I think GC has started doing what I thought he should be doing all along -- speaking from the bully pulpit, rather than playing tower defense on the forums. Most complaint forum threads were (and still are) trolling for blue posts. This is worthless discourse -- in most cases GC had lost the argument before ever joining it.
With the new web site, now GC effectively has a blog. He can talk about what's important to him and not get mired in that mess. He gets to direct the conversation from the start, which helps make any comments more valuable -- as opposed to arguing with the brick wall that starts a thread with nothing but "[CLASS/MECHANIC] IS BROKEN AND YOU WILL NEVER CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE QQ NERFPLZKTHX".
Plus he gets front page exposure, and so can bring his thoughts to a much larger percentage of the player base (as opposed to a thread in some forum that 99% of the base never reads). That also helps improve the discussion, as he's no longer just talking to people with an axe to grind.
There has been less of GC since the site switch, but what is there has been far more meaningful.

After the faaaaabulous wardrobe in The Burning Crusade, and the "Oops, we all appear to be wearing the same outfit!" catastrophe during Wrath of The Lich King. I can't help but wonder why Blizzard don't adopt the similar idea from other MMO's which allowed you to recolour your own armour?
It'd be very easily programmed into the game and would allow for players to give themselves a far more unique look. Instead of a raid where a bunch of us look almost identical. Make it like the tabard design tool where we could add patterns to the gear as well. Add some flare to those gauntlets! Some pizaz to that cape!
