WRUP: My evil mountain fortress

This week's WRUP has no bonus question yet again, largely due to my inability to think up a good question on the fly. You'd think The Queue would have trained me well in it. Luckily, the rest of the staff is here to make up for my shortcomings.
Matthew Rossi (@MatthewWRossi): I'm going to be climbing up a vast mountain fortress to stop my enemy, Ziebart the Maleficar, from using the Omega Zero to destroy the world by means of removing the Bonus Question. I just have to defeat his henchmen Sacco and McCurley, to get the codes to the lair. There's a hydra in there.
Alex Ziebart (@AlexZiebart): Trying out RIFT in this weekend's beta event. I already know it isn't a bad game, but I still want to give it a try before launch. It should be a good time! Also looking to get some more writing done over on one of my other blogs. Oh ... and that Super Bowl thing, I guess?
Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey): Getting my freshly painted room into some sort of reasonable order, writing, and probably watching the Super Bowl on Sunday, as half my guild seems to be planning to do so, so the likelihood of raiding is ... small, to say the very least.
Chase Christian (@madsushi): Having a big Super Bowl party at my place that will be converting to a LAN for my guild's raid that evening. I'm also working on designing a very special custom PC chassis, and hopefully I'll have time to get most of the paint work done this weekend.
Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb): I'm still working on capping out my guild rep for the week, so hopefully I can get together a couple guild heroic runs and get that done. I'm also thinking of knocking out Swamp of Sorrows on my gnome priest, since I've heard there's some excellent Alliance lore up in that area and I want to experience it firsthand. Finally, just like everyone else, you know I am looking forward to Sunday with bated breath. That's right, it's Love Is In The Air time. I'm getting that rocket this year!
Joe Perez (@Lodurzj): Trying to drum up some more recruiting for Unpossible, getting ready for Monday to start the raiding week and trying to unwind. I am, however, going to dump a ridiculous amount of time into Magicka! I'm completely hooked on it. Multiplayer is way more fun than I anticipated. *puts on his robe and his wizard hat*
Josh Myers (@elamqt): I think I need to work on getting back into WoW. The only time I've spent in-game in the past week has been to raid, as I spent the weekend doing the StarCraft 2 campaign. As for the bonus question, I'm partial to the Rhinoceros.
Kelly Aarons (@Cadistra): Running heroics on my druid, hoping that maybe -- just maybe -- some good leather upgrades will drop. Other than that, work work work, and applying (i.e., begging) for a job.
Lisa Poisso (@emused): Sledding on the ice in my driveway. Sometimes, doing that in my car.
Mathew McCurley (@gomatgo): RIFT beta, Super Bowl (go, Steelers!) and WoW as usual. Probably going to try baking a cake, too. Also, more job applications and resume stuff.
Matthew Rossi ... again: Having successfully climbed the mountain and defeated the hydra, I am now battling the magmen. I believe I am fairly close to the Omega Zero device. Turned out McCurley and Sacco were out riding kraken, so this should be over momentarily.
I'm also gonna level my shaman.
Michael Gray (@writegray): I recently did a switch of which character is my main, as my guild is like all melee DPS. So, probably heroics. Bonus answer: We've trained Sylvanas to run down the hill after my wife on a sled. She tries to grip her by the arm to "save" her from falling.
Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel): Leveling multiple alts as usual and a yarnivorous party on Sunday.
Sarah Nichol (@mentalshaman): Watching 6 Nations Rugby (Wales v. England) on Friday evening. Other than that, we'll be stocking up on bottled water because the mains water pipe is corroded and needs completely replacing. We don't have to pay for it, but the process of quotes, insurance and so on could take a while. In the meantime, we have no heating or mains water. Hurrah for the wood-burning stove, fingerless gloves, and the joys of new shoes.

Sorry for comment climbing, but I think this should be seen. If you would like a RIFT VIP Beta code, you only need to go to ZAM.com, create and account, and hit the request RIFT VIP Beta code, and voila, now you have access to beta.
Itanius Feb 5th 2011 10:04AM
@steve
Unfortunately just applying a key doesn't get you immediate access to the beta. You need to be invited to one of the beta events AFTER applying the key to your Trion Worlds account.

@ Itanius
Yeah I kinda missed that part, my bad, but nevertheless I applied today the key, like an hour ago, and now I have received the invite to beta. So it doesn't take much time. :)

I snagged a beta invite to the RIFT event during all those giveaways but am now suddenly reminded I need to download the game. :P
Oteo Feb 4th 2011 9:54PM
PS: Can we get a recent pic of Sylvanas?
Bapo Feb 5th 2011 2:06AM
I WANT to download it, but for whatever reason, it takes 12hrs, and if you are stupid, like myself, and think, oh, I will click cancel, and it will resume where it was at when I get back... WRONG
8hrs into it, only 4 left to go, wanted to use the internet... that was a mistake >.
Oteo Feb 5th 2011 2:12AM
I played for a few hours and got to level 6 or 7... my experience was 'meh.'
raion Feb 5th 2011 4:12AM
Oh so it *does* take a zillion hours to download eh? i was thinking something was wrong with my internetz. >.>

as much as I complain about Comcast, it *is* pretty fast...
cyanea85 Feb 5th 2011 6:50AM
It downloaded ridiculously fast for me. I queued it up before raiding thinking that it would be mostly done by the time we were done. We hadn't even finished clearing trash and stuff before it was done. Twenty minutes, max.
I'm about 13 levels in. So far...eh. It definitely took all the good parts about WoW and improved on them quite a bit. I really like the flexibility of the Soul system (rogue tanks made me do a double-take) and how you're not locked into DPSing like if you roll a pure class in WoW.
I just can't put my thumb on why I'm not 100% sold on it. I'm definitely not a fan of the graphical style. Say what you will about WoW's style, the world looks alive. I walked into the major Defiant city here and was amazed at how...bland and empty it all was.

"We've trained Sylvanas to run down the hill after my wife on a sled."
...if I didn't know that Sylvanas was your puppy's name, I'd be having some very, very weird mental images.
Saroc Feb 4th 2011 10:14PM
Easy question you could have asked:
Who is going to win the Superbowl?
brammage Feb 5th 2011 5:22AM
The advertising industry.
Dragonrose Feb 5th 2011 7:45AM
I don't live in America and I enjoy Superbowl weekend. not because I watch it, but because I get to see all the hillarious adds on youtube later : P Some people can do publicity.
jfofla Feb 4th 2011 11:09PM
PACKERS!!!
Darkdust Feb 4th 2011 11:30PM
Just joined a guild on Emerald Dream and having a blast. Still need more PVP gear so I plan to spam the BG queue. And with Dallas iced over, that should be quite a bit.
Enthis_17 Feb 4th 2011 11:37PM
Hydras...it's always hydras...
Oni Stardust Feb 5th 2011 12:24AM
Super Bowl? I was not aware football season had started.
I've got nothing planned this weekend. So most time not spent leveling characters in WoW will probably be spent leveling characters in Dissidia. In particular my Hunter and Ultimecia will be receiving some love. I'll try to get some drawing time in there as well.
Nadril Feb 5th 2011 1:42AM
Killzone 3 beta. Maybe try and get my 3v3 team up a bit higher if we all are on at the same time and want to play.
