Do you think at the end of Cataclysm we will truly kill Deathwing? Doesn't it seem a bit much to be able to kill the Aspect of Death?

true, I would like a completely new Blizzard MMORPG ( world of starcraft- 1/2 shooter, 1/2 mmorpg)! lawl =)
Nothing is impossible with a decent one liner.Looks like death... *puts on sunglasses* ...finally died. Yeeeeeaaahhhh!Although that wasn't really decent one liner...

Well.. we've killed the Aspect of Magic, "banished" (or something) 2 different Old Gods, and pretty much defeated Deathwing before in Warcraft 2.. so I wouldn't rule it out.

Why? We've already killed the Aspect of Magic.
Well, we already killed the GOD of Death.

I think we're definitely going to have some help, and I don't think its gonna be Tirion Fordring ice-blocked thru 99% of the fight help, either. I think we're going to have the Dragon Aspects at our backs (or at least Alexstraza), probably providing buffs like that in Yogg, making it feasible to actually damage something with like 900,000,000 HP. I also wouldn't be surprised if Thrall/Varian/Jaina/Garrosh/Earthen Ring makes an appearance as well.Or perhaps we'll get some new version of the Demon Soul, allowing the powers of the Aspects to transfer into players (or suck the powers out of Deathwing), again making killing or defeating Deathwing actually within reach of mere mortals.All in all, I find it very unlikely this will be just a "random gaggle of heroes" kill. This will be a "forces of Alliance and Horde, combined with the might of the Aspects with aid from the Earthen Ring" type of defeat.

@JTWho exactly are you referring to? If it's the Lich King, he was only viewed in that way by the vrykul.

Would point out that Deathwing is just the suped up aspect of earth with a self given title and a bad underbite. Even if he was empowered by an old god as the aspect of death, seeing as that we've beaten two old gods already (I know, I know; mitigating circumstances) its not a stretch to think that we might kill one of their servants.Ole Yoggy was referred to as 'the god of death' and we had our way with him.In short: He got his aspect of death title from outdated content.

Did we REALLY "kill" the God of Death? Or was Yogg-Saron just luring us there to help break him free of his mortal coil so that he could be unleashed fully at a time and place of his choosing? Did we really put a stop to him, or did we just further his plans by breaking him out of his Titan-built prison? I've "killed" Yoggy several times, and every time I do it I wonder if we're playing right into his hands.That, folks, is excellent storytelling. It's why Ulduar is the best raid ever designed.

@erzJT means yoggy, not lk.

This is just me tossing some ideas out there for discussion... Not a yea/nay or anything like that, because I'm rather interested in this myself!Neltharion wasn't always the dragon Aspect of Death. He used to be the Earth Warder, the head honcho of all things related to the earth of Azeroth. It wasn't until he had to suffer the trauma of the Sundering compounded with sanity-nibbling whispers from Old Gods did he become Deathwing. That being said, we have some options:1) The Redemption Ending: We had the same speculation (dare I say, hopes, too?) for Arthas at the end of Wrath. The ending to the questline in Twilight Highlands involving the red dragons seems like it might be a no-brainer for Alexstrasza, the red dragonflight and the heroes of Azeroth. Deathwing is completely bat-shite crazy and needs to be put down. But Neltharion and Alexstrasza were as best friends as major dragon aspects could be! Even if she says he must be put down for once and for all, she doesn't really mean it... does she? Maybe deep down inside that molten body, he's still Neltharion?2) Kill him: As stated before, Alexstrasza says to Deathwing that she must end him. But how is that going to affect Azeroth itself? We killed Malygos in Wrath because he was going nuts and it didn't seem to do to much to the world as we know it, perhaps because Malygos wasn't tied to anything physical of the world (in the literal sense). But Deathwing is still the Earth Warder, no matter how twisted and tormented he is. Ending him might result in something worse than the Shattering, or something getting loose from the earth and Deathwing was only a distraction and/or beginning.3) Another will take his place: The questline in the Badlands hints heavily at something (at least, in my opinion, it does). If you haven't done that chain yet, it's very very interesting-- That's all I'm going to say to avoid spoilers. *IF* this questline is as significant as it seems like it is, then we might have a combination of the first two options as the ending to the expansion... We kill him but there will be someone new already set up to take over the reins to completely redeem the Black Dragonflight (whereas the Blue Dragonflight is still leaderless at the moment). The only caveat to this idea is that the Black Dragonflight may not accept the new leader at all, which results in having to create an entirely new Black Dragonflight and eradicating all of the old.Anyway... Like I said, this is all speculation and just me thinking out loud. I honestly hope that there's more in store for Deathwing/Neltharion than just "Kill him and loot him" at the end.

He is actually the aspect or Earth. He only calls himself the aspect of death now. If you played the first tier of Wrath raiding then you already know, it is quite possible to kill a dragon aspect.

Steal their TiVo then stab them in the back when they're trying desperately to find a friend who will record the new season of House for them.Dragon Aspect, dead.

My biggest curiosity is how much power over Earth does he really still possess? I mean, to me, he's terminally insane. He calls himself the Aspect of Death. I think he relates to (or wishes about) Death more than Earth. He has more or less left Therazane alone now (after tearing up the World Pillar which probably didn't win any brownie points).See, to me, the thing is, if I thought of myself as the Aspect of Earth bent on destroying the world, I'd start by Sundering the planet a few more times. Some may call the Cataclysm something to that effect, but I am not talking erupting a couple volcanoes or a splashing about a tidal wave. I am talking about utter destruction of the continents until the only land above water were an archipelago of volcanoes. Which doesn't sound like what he's doing exactly.But, if I called myself the Aspect of Death and no longer gave Earth much thought anymore, I'd probably wander the world, stirring up chaos to wreak destruction wherever I went, convince a bunch of followers to do the same, get the elementals into the picture (and they would cause any eruptions or whatever), and merely seem to hope to extinguish life, maybe re-origin the planet, etc.... oh, wait.See? So does he even remember he is the Aspect of Earth? Does he still hold sway over the land? Is he now purely a toy of the Old Gods who, while granting powers of their own, have rendered his Titan given powers useless (or at least convinced him they are)?

@ MortenebraActually the blue dragonflight does have a leader. I havent done any of the quests in game yet, tho i believe they are in Azshara? Kalecgos has taken over as leader of the blues, but im not sure if he is actually the new aspect of magic

You all just got me thinking. I think it is fair to speculate that Deathwing probably still has some element of control or domination over the ground and over the Earth, given that he was (and still is) the Aspect of Earth.-Well, what gaggle of very angry and chaotic beings do we know who are (more or less) trapped inside the Earth? The same gaggle of very angry beings that gave Deathwing his newfound abilities.-I've noticed that Deathwing never really seemed like he had a coherent plan, possibly poor story telling and game mechanics aside, he doesn't really seem to have any method to his madness, he just runs around flame-breathing things at will. Why didn't he just destroy Stormwind when he landed there? Why would he be interested in a device that would wipe out all life? Why are Orgrimmar, Ironforge, or Darnassus untouched? Look what he did to the Badlands or Auberdine, why don't we see that kind of destruction *everywhere*?I think the Old Gods simply drove Deathwing insane, buffed him up, and let him loose like a mad dog. Perhaps the mortal kingdoms would be in dissoray for a while, but the Old Gods knew eventually they'd regain their footing and come after Deathwing, for we haven't really seen an enemy that the mortal races have yet to overcome. They've defeated (at least parts of) two Old Gods, a creation of the Burning Legion and the Legion itself at this point, why would the Old Gods assume Deathwing would be any different? Perhaps the Old Gods are fulling intending on Deathwing getting destroyed, and with no one to rule/control/manage the earth, they will have a perfect opportunity to "break free" into a world still trying to overcome the damage that Deathwing caused.
