"Are you guys going to turn into RIFT Insider? I sure hope so.
Ha, no."
..and then you answer another Rift question with a very lengthy answer.
Stop posting about Rift, I and many others don't care about it. You even pointed to Massively, so why do you keep talking about it here?

Rift isn't something I personally care about in that I'm not going to make the time investment in another mmo at this point. But it is something that many wow players are concerned about in that they or their friends might be interested in giving it a try.
I don't think it is entirely disengenuous to write about a competing mmo on this blog when the hype is reaching a high point

u mad bro?
But seriously, the title was pretty clear...you knew there was gonna be some talk of Rift. You could have easily just read the WoW related questions and been on your merry way.

I think a lot of WoW players (myself included) are probably pretty curious about the game. Its been getting a lot of attention and publicity and I've been hearing a lot of good things from other MMO players.
That being said, I've also seen a very large amount of "zomgz RIFT is totally gonna be the WoW killer" and I just don't buy it. People can say what they want about Cata, but I've never been having more fun with WoW in the 3 years I've been playing this game.
On top of this, RIFT looks to be near-unplayable on my crappy hardware, and everytime I've tried a new MMO I get driven away purely due to the often rampant WoW-hating that tends to go on. And while the game does seem to be pretty similar with WoW, it also seems to be positioning itself to parallel and compete with WoW, which means there will likely be no shortage of "omfg this is so much better than WoW, why does anyone play that shitty game anymore" in-game.
And honestly I'd rather the queue talk about *something* than just three short-answer questions and nothing else. RIFT seems to be the first game that's in beta and still "in competition" with WoW, so its understandable for people to be curious.

From the title of the article: "Alex talks mostly about RIFT due to lack of anything better"
From the first paragraph of the article: "No, I hate Monday because there are no questions to answer in The Queue after the weekend... Today will have a couple of brief WoW questions, and then I'm going to talk to about RIFT because *some of you were curious about the game and that's what I spent my weekend playing.*"
Your question was answered in the very title of the article. His reasons behind what he did were in the very first paragraph. I'm confused at your confusion. I hope this cleared it up for you, at least. :)

I agree. I come here for World of Warcraft news. Not Rift news. I dont want to know about Rift, i dont care about Rift. This is a WoW site, its not cool to mention one of its competitors so often.

Your complaint would be valid Maz, if in fact every second article posted on WoW Insider was about Rift for the last month. This is clearly not the case, especially when this was first real discussion about it on this site mixed in with WoW related stuff...
...so take a pill.

To be honest, I am vaguely interested in hearing about RIFT.. I have been playing WoW since vanilla launch and to be quite frank, it is starting to get painfully boring. Not a whole lot has changed REALLY.. it still mostly consists of "Go kill this" or "Go talk to so-and-so" quests. Sure they may have changed since Cata hit, but it still boils down to the same game.
Now a diversion that is very familiar in the way it plays, but different in a lot of other aspects sounds like something that could be interesting to do when I have one of my "Bored of WoW" spells (which sadly are becoming more and more frequent) and it seems this game is shaping up to be a pretty viable alternative to World of Warcraft. Will it kill WoW. No. Wow is WAY ahead in so many development aspects that I am sure that at best even IF RIFT becomes legitimate competition and looks to be capable of actually killing WoW, that can only be a good thing as it will knock Blizzard out of their complacency and the competition will jolt them in to producing an even better game maybe even changing WoW's ageing Engine.
Way I see it. RIFT isnt a bad thing by any means.

I like Rift enough to buy it. Will it have staying power? Who knows. But i am sick to death of WoW and the hate that is PUGging. My guild is going nowhere in terms of raiding which is all I care about. (That and alts, but i'm about alted out, already at server cap)
