Living Elements alchemy transmute proc changed

I wanted to hop in and clarify and confirm there was in fact a change that was implemented with the patch that unfortunately did not make the patch notes.
The change actually adjusted the return on the transmutes so that you weren't getting spikes in the amount of items you'd get from the transmute. Instead, if you transmute over a period of time, the amount of the transmute return should even out.
So basically if you transmute on a regular basis, you should see a more regular return on the transmute vs. a spike in large returns. Transmutation specialists will almost always get a PROC when transmuting living elements.

Essentially, now that the proc is guaranteed, you will be making the same amount of volatiles as you would if you were to proc, but over a longer period of time instead of all at once. Depending on how lucky you are or were, this could mean a lot more or a lot fewer free volatiles from your transmutes.

just not giving up on that thing, no amount of grey out is gonna deter you eh?
here is my advice, lets put that pretty ansi facepalm away for a few weeks, hold on to it. When you see the next real whopper of a post, hold back, we're not ready yet. Wait for a opportunity, when we least expect it.. there will be twill with a timely facepalm. In comedy timing is everything, what you've done here is the equivalent of laughing at your own joke.

LIES!
I only got 15 last night.
*Cancel my account due to those lying liars.*

Are you sure you're transmutation specialized? If you are, submit a ticket.
Cephas Feb 10th 2011 5:07PM
Ugh, I should have read more comments first. Apparently the proc isn't actually 100%. I guess I've just been lucky then.
Eregos ftw! Feb 10th 2011 8:19PM
@cephas
While I know that you did correct yourself, I'd like to point out this part in the blue post:
"Almost always get a PROC"
Emphasis on ALMOST and PROC
Noyou Feb 10th 2011 10:38PM
Damn,
I have been getting some good procs lately. !4 vol earth and 14-15 air for example. Not looking forward to the new system. What I really would like is separate CDs for elemental and metal. I don't think it's a lot to be able to do one living elements and one truegold a day. Ah well.
Sorcha Feb 10th 2011 4:07PM
I approve, I'm correctly specced and having done the transmute daily since a week after release I only got extras once.
pancakes Feb 10th 2011 11:54PM
I had never gotten a proc off anything as a transmute spec alch (I leveled it from 1-525 at 85), until last night, when I got 4 extra earths along with my usual 14-16 airs.
SamLowry Feb 12th 2011 2:14AM
I've never had a transmute specialist proc since Cata dropped.
The Dewd Feb 10th 2011 4:08PM
That would be nice. Lately I've been doing transmutes for a tailor in my guild and to run off to another zone just to turn his 15 volatile life into 14 volatile is kind of lame since he really needs the dreamcloth.
xiani Feb 10th 2011 7:15PM
Oh yes. I've just got to the tailoring level on an alt when it seems I need 30 of every kind of volatile each week, and this helps no end!
I think my sum total of bonus procs up to now has been about 2x15-ish for about 35 tries, and now I'm on 8 for 2 days worth already...I can't see this being anything other than a long term buff, though it will reduce the "woo, I win!" illusion of a big proc, but I can live with that;)
dodes359 Feb 10th 2011 4:19PM
I get the bonus proc on my Tauren, but haven't gotten it yet on my Night Elf :(
gboyd Feb 10th 2011 4:28PM
Blue Post:
Transmutation specialists will almost always get a PROC when transmuting living elements.
Article:
Essentially, now that the proc is guaranteed.
Almost always proc is not a guaranteed proc. I'm not pointing this out to be a jerk, but just so people don't log in, try it out, not get a proc, and then rage against the machine in the rest of our faces.
bullingdon Feb 10th 2011 4:41PM
The proc is definitely not guaranteed -- I didn't get any on my first Living Elements transmute post-patch. The wording in the article should definitely be updated to indicate that the rate has been INCREASED but not to 100%.
naughtyzoot Feb 11th 2011 11:10AM
No where near guaranteed. I'm running at 25% proc rate since the patch and I'm definitely transmute spec. Others in guild are running the same. 1 in 4 isn't even "almost always" as the blue post suggested. :(
telmahq Feb 15th 2011 11:25AM
I'm on 0% since the patch. I got the proc a lot more regularly before the change... curse my luck.
BMEgal2 Feb 10th 2011 4:29PM
I'll admit, getting a free proc for 15 volatiles is nice when it happens. But I've been transmuting every day since I reached the appropriate level of alchemy training, and it's happened exactly twice for me. For people who are spurned by the RNG, this is good news. For those people trying to make their AH fortune on rarer volatiles, sorry for your loss, but I like this change.
