The Daily Quest: Perfecting the priest

WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
Sometimes I miss playing a priest and healing people. But my experience as a priest doing raid healing was way back in vanilla, when flash heal was pretty much all you cast, with an occasional Greater Heal thrown in every now and again, and in the early portions of The Burning Crusade, when the sparkly delights of Holy Nova were introduced. These days, healing is a lot more complicated than it used to be -- let's take a look at a few posts around the blogosphere about priests:
- Ecclesiastical Discipline rates the various Cataclysm faction rewards for priests.
- Priest it Forward has a good guide for priests that are looking for pre-heroic gear.
- Tales of a Priest talks about making the most of coordinating healing cooldowns.
- Disco Priest talks about the art of shield spamming and why it's not making a comeback in 4.0.6.

Wow, coincidence? Speaking of priests, I just (as in five minutes ago) made a post on The Healing Hammer about class racial abilities, why I miss them, and why they can't ever come back as they were.

Aaaand the continuation/conclusion of this, where I put up instead of shutting up and actually give my thoughts on what they could do to bring Class Racial spells back in the game.

Holy Nova was the original 31 point Holy talent in vanilla. Maybe you're thinking Circle of Healing when you mentioned BC?

It was - and nobody ever took it because it was pretty worthless for a 31 point talent. They buffed the heck out of it in TBC and moved it further up the tree, so suddenly priests were actually using it. :)

Yeah, those were the days. People seem to think that Disc was only viable for PvE starting in Wrath, but I was 31 Disc in vanilla because I definitely didn't need Holy Nova.

Coincidentally enough, I finished this post while going through a Gnomeregan (ugh) LFD group today on my Priest.
New on Corath's Blog (http://corath.wordpress.com), a post called "Gaming Socially", all about those fun or awkward circumstances that WoW comes up in real life.

Enjoy!

I'm surprised to see a couple of very old posts here. With the loss of
some old-time bloggers recently and a few notable new ones, you're not
stuck for choice when it comes to sourcing some fresh material. My own
blog focuses on Holy priest healing and raid progression, if that's of
interest to you: http://clickthelightwell.blogspot.com/
