The Queue: Extra strength

Mike Sacco was unable to tackle your usual Friday edition of The Queue this week, so I'm going to use this opportunity to make up for my oh-so-brief Monday editions of The Queue and answer a few more questions than we typically do each day. Onward!
Noyou asked:
With Activision pulling the plug on Guitar Hero and True Crime, how will that impact WoW, if at all?
I highly doubt it will impact WoW at all. The company is called Activision Blizzard, but WoW's development house is specifically Blizzard Entertainment. Blizzard, as a developer, does what Blizzard wants to do. What happens to other developers within Activision Blizzard isn't going to have much of an effect on Blizzard the developer.
Trilynne asked:
Has Blizzard said anything about fixing the phased ore and herb nodes in multiple Cataclysm zones? It's very irritating when you can see a node in one subsection of the zone, but as soon as you cross over into it, it disappears.
As far as I know, Blizzard hasn't commented on this at all. I agree with you on the irritation factor, though! It drives me nuts, and I fall for it every single time. Even when I know very well that a node is out of reach due to phasing, I try to race to it anyway. Not cool, man. Not cool.
I do hope they figure out a fix for it eventually.
Ezzy asked:
What is up with the killable Cinderbloom in Tol Barad?
I have no idea, but I love it. Unlike the node phasing issues, the killable Cinderbloom is hilarious. I hope they keep it. Or add a new plant to herbalism that requires you to beat it up to get at the goods. Cacti? Lopping off limbs to get at the meat inside? Who knows?
Svylva asked:
My guild just earned access to the Battle Standard of Coordination, which according to patch notes now grants 15% increase to experience, honor and reputation. However, when I dropped it in Tol Barad before turning in my dailies, it had no effect. It also had no effect on my rep for a Ramkahen daily turn in. Anyone know when/how these actually work?
It's a battle standard, so the idea is to take it into battle. That is, you want to put it down in combat and it will increase your experience, honor and reputation gains when you kill something. You would drop it in a big fight in a battleground, or when you're tackling a boss in an instance, not when you're turning in quests.
Telwar asked:
Anybody else notice that the mob spawn rate in the Tol Barad mini-dungeons seems to have increased?
I believe that the respawn rates on the mobs on the Tol Barad cell blocks is dynamic. The more people there are in the area (and thus, the faster the mobs are getting killed), the faster they will respawn. If it's a prime time rush and you have 20 or 30 players killing demons, they are going to respawn nearly instantaneously. However, if you're doing the quests at 3 a.m. and it's just you and maybe one or two other guys in the cell block, the respawns will be much slower.
rnave27 asked:
What ever happened to guild chat being added to the mobile armory? Did it go the way of the dance studio?
I don't believe Blizzard ever said, "Yes, we are going to add guild chat to the mobile armory." It's an idea Blizzard said that it liked and would like to tackle one day, but that doesn't mean it was planned immediately or even in the near future. It's on a very long list of things the team would like to do one day. Eventually. When they get around to it.
Danthrax asked:
Three times in the past two days I have received a dungeon in progress when using the LFG tool, without the pop-up box telling me it was in progress. Has Blizzard removed that message intentionally to avoid tanks queuing specifically for in-progress dungeons, or is it just a bug? Other people joining the instance at the same time have told me they also did not see the warning on their windows.
I'm fairly certain this was done intentionally, yes. Let me tell you, it is not fun to be a healer in line for a heroic, getting spammed with ready check windows over and over because the tank is queueing and declining repeatedly, waiting to get an in-progress proc. The in-progress notification inspired some really terrible behavior in people, so I'm quite glad it's gone.

Is it still possible as of Cataclysm (though difficult) to build Shadowmourne and thus be able to acquire the rarified Tabard, mount, and other goodies? I'm noticing a distinct lack of Tabards of the Lightbringer in the auction house.
Richard Merrick Feb 11th 2011 2:23PM
Lordy, I hope so. I have all 25 Primordial Saronite needed for my warrior alt and frankly, at the time I got them way back there was no clarity given on this concern. But, I figured 'better safe than sorry' and grabbed the saronite while I still had the excess emblems.
Revynn Feb 11th 2011 2:07PM
Yes, it's still possible. The lack of them on the AH is because anyone trying to craft Shadowmourne these days is likely a collector and will want to keep the vanity items for themselves.

"The in-progress notification inspired some really terrible behavior in people, so I'm quite glad it's gone."
This is why we can't have nice things!

Does anyone know if the bug for the Zandalari Voodoo Doll has been fixed? The urban legend is that the Doll gives you 15 skill points and tricks the game into thinking you already got the Zin'rokh. I've been sitting on the voodoo doll for awhile now just waiting for the new patch to come out. Is it safe to go ahead and solve it?
Zhiva Feb 11th 2011 2:42PM
Indeed, it's an urban legend. In other words, it's not true. I got Zinrokh after I solved all other troll artifacts.

I think there are two possible solutions regarding the in progress dungeon. First, you only get say 3 declines before getting the debuff locking you out. Or, give people the option to queue for only full dungeons. If you go into the standard queue you can get full or in progress, and you won't know which it is. This way, someone who only wants to do full dungeons and get max rep and JP can queue for the entire dungeon. While those who don't care can queue normal, but you won't know if it is in progress.

Speaking of the mobile armory....how do you cancel it? I cannot seem to find any information on how to cancel the service apart from canceling the entire game. I even got a response back from customer support with a link on how to cancel my account -- my entire account. Seems there should be a way to do this and just cancel the armory part.
Hanak Feb 11th 2011 3:56PM
you can cancel the entire account and then promptly re-sign. No harm done to your characters or account. You even get to keep your already paid game time.
So if your account expires fourteen (14) days from now and you cancel today, you have until the 25th to add new game time if you wish to avoid any hiccups.

Question for the Queue:
What's the deal with the 525 JC neck and finger recipes? There are two different Agility DPS patterns that are identical except different color gem slot, a Tank pattern, and an Intellect pattern. Where's the Strength DPS Love? Has Blizzard commented on this?
Lyrd Feb 11th 2011 2:43PM
Don't expect a reply beyond this one. I've asked several times on several venues without getting one.
Vaeku Feb 11th 2011 1:49PM
Oh good, I'm glad that dungeon queue change was intentional. I thought I was going crazy because I would enter a dungeon and be in the middle of a pull.
I'm glad with this though, now people won't reject in-progress dungeons because they assume the group sucks, when most of the time it was whoever left that sucked.
Irish Feb 11th 2011 1:49PM
For the record this section has been rather short lately, is it because we arent asking enough question is it more time consuming then I think to put one of these together? This one is longer, I am speaking of the few before this.
Chucks Feb 11th 2011 1:51PM
The NPCs in Undercity were acting pretty weird today. I saw on walk off the top tier then bounce back and forth in the air trying to right himself. It was HILARIOUS.
Dreyja Feb 11th 2011 3:05PM
Dang - what you see when you don't have fraps running hey. I'd love to see this!
Oldbear Feb 11th 2011 1:54PM
I like your ideas.
As a DPS I'll take full or part runs anytime.
And on my Tankadin I love coming in after some tank just rage-quit... Even if I'm not that good - I can still look like the hero for saving a otherwise bad PUG run.
Oldbear Feb 11th 2011 1:56PM
Reply fail again... this was in reply to Guy.

Lore Question: When you first meet Lirastrasza in Twilight Highlands, she mentioned something about us and our allies turning our backs to the red dragons or something to that effect in Grim Batol. What exactly is she referring to?
