Also, for that matter, he is 'Doctor' or 'The Doctor'. The 'Who' is just part of the show title.

Smith is great, but I think a lot of that comes from the fact that he's (finally) got a great writer behind him. Tennant had so much potential, but I got so sick of Davies' constant "he's practically a god" imagery (see: The Titanic episode, for example) when the whole point of the Doctor is that he's NOT a superbeing but rather just some guy who gets into trouble. Between that and him CONSTANTLY bringing back characters over and over and over again completely erasing any emotional investment in their original departure, I was sick of the show near the end of Davies' run. And don't get me started on Donna Noble...My favorite though? Eight. The movie sucked balls, but in the spin-off media, he's amazing. Six is also up there (again, thanks to the spin-off material)

Well if we are being technical about it his name is The Doctor. Doctor Who is just the usual mis-understanding'Its the Doctor''Doctor Who?''Just the Doctor'

Isn't he called just "The Doctor", while the series is called "Doctor Who"? At least they never referred to him as "Doctor Who" in the old series...

"The Doctor" or "Doctor" is still his name, not his title. (What I mean, he introduces himself as "The Doctor", but when other people are referring to him, it's always "Doctor". For example, "You will be EXTERMINATED, Doctor.")Just like the name Junior. It's an actual name. You wouldn't call a guy named Junior "Jr. Smith".

It is "Doctor Who". But he is actually called The Doctor. And that's not his name, anyway. He has a name, but only one other person knows it that I am aware of. And David Tennant is the best.

UmmmIt's actually 'The Doctor'He never has referred to himself as Doctor Who(?) - that's merely the response from his answer to 'Who are you?'ie"Thank you for saving us from those nasty Daleks - who are you?""I'm The Doctor""Doctor who?"Nobody calls The Master "Master Who"...
