The Queue: Voynich bin ein Berliner

The Voynich Manuscript is one of my favorite unsolved mysteries of the literary world: a manuscript no one can date in a language no one can decipher about no one knows what. It's a bunch of flowers and women showering. I think it's the equivalent of someone a thousand years from now digging up a D&D Monster Manual: "What does it mean?"
If you want to check out the manuscript yourself, head to Yale's online library and type in "Voynich." It's the first result.
Jyetie asked:
My dad asked my why my character was purple and glowy the other day, so ... Is there any lore-icle reason for Shadowform for priests? Other than looking cool?
All priests use aspects of the Forgotten Shadow, sort of the other side of the Light, in practice, but shadow priests are way into it. Priests who are completely at one with the Shadow can (some say) ascend to god-like status, achieving ultimate power and immortality. Shadowform is essentially your character's getting as close to ascension as he can. Commenter "Furry" puts it well: "It's a physical show of how your soul is going to a darker place."
Richard Merrick asked:
Do the hunters of the WoW Insider staff have any favourite creatures that have yet to be implemented as tamable pets?
It's a little late to consult with Brian and Basil, but if I were a hunter (hahahaha yeah right), I would want to tame talbuks, and it dismays me that I cannot.
Aracross asked:
Am I the only one who gets really uncomfortable when someone in your party (and sometimes the whole party) doesn't say a word? I mostly only understand this when they are from a guild, and probably using their own voice chat, though I think is quite harsh for the player outside the guild, and a little of bad manners. Is it just me?
As much as I appreciate an expedient, quiet, surgical heroic run, I usually say hello at the beginning of the instance to try to gauge people's social attitudes. It's hard to say if someone is being quiet because they're an antisocial neckbeard or because they just don't feel like they have much to contribute in terms of chat. A quick hello usually breaks the ice, and if someone wants to say more, they usually will at that point. If they don't, that's certainly their prerogative, neckbeard or no.
Vertygo23 asked:
Does anyone know if the bug for the Zandalari Voodoo Doll has been fixed? The urban legend is that the Doll gives you 15 skill points and tricks the game into thinking you already got the Zin'rokh. I've been sitting on the voodoo doll for awhile now just waiting for the new patch to come out. Is it safe to go ahead and solve it?
It's just an urban legend. Plenty of people have gotten Zin'rokh after completing all other troll recipes.
Joseph asked:
When you first meet Lirastrasza in Twilight Highlands, she mentioned something about us and our allies turning our backs to the red dragons or something to that effect in Grim Batol. What exactly is she referring to?
She's referring to the old killable red dragons at the Grim Batol entrance prior to Cataclysm. Much like Therazane dislikes mortals for killing Theradras -- something your character certainly may never have done -- Lirastrasza hates mortals because they used to go kill red drakes for fun.

I think I remember hearing something about hunters being able to tame mounts?
Drahken Feb 12th 2011 1:47PM
I think you may be thinking of Sambas and Maddrex. They're a new rarespawn cat and scorpid respectively that share they're skin with the Golden King and Kor'Krom Annihilator guild mounts. Those in addition to the numerous other instances of the same. Nightsabers, wolves, etc.
Webwolf Feb 12th 2011 3:01PM
Yes, the devs did mention that they liked that idea, during a dev chat some time ago. Ideas tossed around by players were a saddle item, from what I remember.

In the most recent hotfix where mastery was nerfed for Moonkin and Shadow priests, does that reduce the value of mastery on gear? Or just the initial base benefit?
I'm jsut wondering in terms of reforging, the whole thing is a bit confusing! ty ^.^

@Twill
If you are going to hijack the forum at least do it on the hotfix one please. Thanks.

They should just make an ungulate pet family and chunk it in the cunning tree. I. Want. My. White. Deer. And a giraffe. And please Blizzard, put the clefthoof in the rhino family, I just love their big toothy faces.
Xlo Feb 12th 2011 12:11PM
We didn't kill those drakes for fun, we murder countless of baby Red Dragon for own baby Red Dragon. I didn't have fun farming it >_>
VioletArrows Feb 12th 2011 1:40PM
And some of us never did get one. Had to go pick up the teenage version as a mount. :/

Also, if you're horde, the reds aren't so happy you teamed up with the clan that enslaved Alexstrasza.

Beat me to it. ^_^

Note to Lirastraza: I would never have slain red whelps if they didn't fireball me every time I rode by that section of the wetlands.
First blood, Lira, first blood.

is it just me? Or does the RNG for the Headt Shaped Box hate anyone else?
5 days in a row I open the box to see the message "There is no loot".
Xlo Feb 12th 2011 12:13PM
Is that the point of Valentines day to get turned down for you big love rocket?
MusedMoose Feb 12th 2011 12:13PM
You get Justice Points from it. The "there is no loot" just means you didn't get one of the other little trinkets.
...or the love rocket. @_@
Iirdan Feb 12th 2011 12:15PM
The RNG for all world events hates everybody else. Except THAT guy.
Yeah, THAT guy. The one with the Love Rocket, Horseman's Mount, Scorchling and Frost Elemental, and both Brewfest mounts.
There's one on every server, and he makes a perfect object for your left over Snowballs.
Tribunal Feb 12th 2011 12:18PM
Well, first off, just so you realize, that "no loot" is your justice points c:
JP are still relatively 'eh' for a lot of people, but I've seen some confused thinking they didn't even get them.
BUT, secondly, yes. This holiday is far and away the worst for drop rates, from my personal experience and pretty much everyone else I hear from.
Most holidays the mount and the pet are pretty rare, and the other vanity stuff you actually see. Sometimes the pet is slightly less rare. This one it's all rare. In two years I've seen two things (granted, not over yet, but still).
Of course, the flipside is I used to farm bosses like the HH (and these bosses were always unfarmable for the box loot), and you used to get five summons so our views are skewed, etc. I still think objective numbers would probably show lesser droprates.
Sucks, just glad I got the one I really wanted (the pet). The mount would be WAY awesome but when I saw how bad the drop was I managed to keep myself from actually putting it on the 'want' list to avoid disappointing. Fortunately, the looks of it are only really cool (to me) for being unique. Not like the HH, the mount I've wanted since I started playing the damn game and now my Boyfriend has and I've still never seen :X
Tribunal Feb 12th 2011 12:21PM
@lirdan
There's other loot from these bosses than the mount. The mount(s) being rare (and to a lesser extent the pets) is pretty par for the course.
It's the fact that people don't even know the other three vanity items exist because they've never seen them, even on other people, that we're more talking about.
It wasn't handed out like candy, but you did usually see Ahune's sycthe a few times, or the HH Helm, or his pumpkin blade, etc.
THAT would be the more apt comparison.
Jack Spicer Feb 12th 2011 1:09PM
I can't get too bent out of shape about this. I'm pretty sick of seeing everyone and their brother on the Bronze Drake from Heroic Culling of Stratholme. I'd imagine it'd be the same if everyone was on a Love Rocket.
Actually, no, probably worse because that thing just looks odd hovering in the same spot.
