Patch 4.0.6 hotfixes for Feb. 15

General
- The amount of guild reputation and guild experience gained from killing a raid boss has been dramatically increased, as the previous rate felt too low compared to the difficulty of progressing through raid content. This change will require a realm restart to take effect, which will be next Tuesday's weekly scheduled maintenance at the latest.
- Shield of Velen guards in The Exodar are now consistent with other "royal" city guards in terms of health, level, and damage.
- Mages
- Arcane Blast now costs 5% of base mana before stacking modifiers, down from 7%.
- Baradin Hold
- Argaloth despawns and resets properly if the raid wipes during Fel Firestorm.
- Blackwing Descent
- While flying around the Vault of the Shadowflame, Nefarian no longer forces everyone to stand up if engaged.
- Throne of the Tides
- It should no longer be possible to summon a mount in certain areas of this dungeon.
- Shard of Woe (Heroic trinket) now reduces the base mana cost of spells by 205, with the exception of Holy and Nature spells -- the base mana cost of Holy and Nature spells remains reduced by 405 with this trinket.
- Engineering Target Dummies are no longer able to taunt boss-level creatures.

Thank God for that guild xp bonus to raiding. It's such a pain to cap out on raid nights, even farm night, because of the paltry xp the bosses give to people who otherwise would be running heroics.
Ronin Feb 15th 2011 9:33PM
Now if it were easier to get Guild Exp by doing things besides dungeons and raiding... it seems like Blizz is intent on forcing everyone to stand around in SW (Org) while they wait for a dungeon/raid. There's so much more to the game than that-- but it's like they've bought into all the Forum posts that claim the game only begins at level cap :(
Hollow Leviathan Feb 15th 2011 9:55PM
I'm generally able to effect guild xp by doing a full list of dailies when we need that last gasp before cap. Seems like it's 3% for all of them. Not much, but it's not really group content. You can always try to do some guild BG or arena PVP?
Karch Feb 15th 2011 10:34PM
Worth noting that the holiday dailies reward XP like they were quests at your level. This is something like 17,500 for the level-capped folks. So until this is over, a L85 toon can rake in around 100k guild XP by chucking candy at people, giving leaders bracelets and making a sidetrip to Uldum.
If your faction on your server is decent at Tol Barad, there are theoretically *over* 25 dailies that will reward 17,500 XP each because of the holiday:
Tol Barad - 6 to 18
Profession dailies - 2 to 3 (dunno about JC)
Holidailies - 6
Why yes, I am in a small guild, why do you ask?

The funny part is, while what I said was true, I actually was thinking about Guild REPUTATION.
It takes forever for a leveling character to get enough guild rep to level up. :(

Oh well there goes the engineering nerf again. I suppose the armor tinker to gloves is all they want us tanks to use. The shield, nitro boost both have raid wiping fail on use chances. The dummy was not OP in my opinion but I guess 5-7 seconds not taking single target damage every 5 minutes was not too much for them. Even in a raid with multiple engineers I don't see this being OP. Mine had about 70k HP so that's what it lasted.

You know as well as I do when your pushing the envelope - one or two hits not on you can mean the difference between a wipe and a kill - I'm sure the change came about because some raiding guild decided that if they stacked the raid with target dummies they might be able to kill a boss on heroic mode.

Makes you wonder how many engineers Paragon had...
Angus Feb 16th 2011 1:22AM
You know the engineering tinkers no longer add stats to the engineers, so there is no profession benefit now, the glove armor enchant is jack all. it's meant to help with spike damage, but just like block it fails to take into account that the majority of the spike damage done in raids is magic.
I guess I will just not bother having a belt enchant, it's not like they want us to have one when they have a chance at wiping the raid or just plain don't work. And they can't be used in PVP anyway...
Boom Feb 16th 2011 7:49AM
@Angus - the new version of the Synapse Springs absolutely adds stats to the engineer. If you don't think that +480 in your primary stat for 10 seconds every 60 seconds isn't a profession benefit, then you might want to re-look your choice of professions.
Angus Feb 16th 2011 8:38AM
@Boom: The belt tinker in question was a tank tinker.
The glove tinker giving 480 stam for 10 seconds isn't a great tanking tinker and the armor one is worthless against magic spike damage. You can't use the shield belt tinker because it can malfunction causing a wipe. The belt one could buy you a few seconds, which is what a cd should do.
The problem with this is that the belt slot tinkers are now all worthless to tanks and pretty close to worthless for everyone else anyway. How many can use use in rated BGs or Arena? How many have a chance to malfunction causing something close to the opposite of the intended result?
I'd like my chosen profession to be somewhat useful. Heck, making money from the thing is nearly impossible due to the ridiculous amount of mats/gold it took to level. I'm still 10K in the hole from getting it to max and making my goggles. Meanwhile a blacksmith in my guild has made over 25K in profit this week alone. Making people fel reavers just doesn't compete.
Bulbasaur Feb 16th 2011 9:11AM
You shoul use your own cds to mitigate magic spike damage and your gear to mitigate physical damage.
Boom Feb 16th 2011 12:18PM
@Angus
I feel your pain as far as the cost to level vs profit margins with engineering. I'm still trying to figure out why engineering is the only 'crafting' profession without a BoE craftable item. How many people are willing to shell out the 5-6k for the blue ranged weapons we can make?
Raze Feb 15th 2011 9:48PM
I agree with Ronin. I have a small guild and we can't raid even with all guild members. It's disappointing that you get very little outside of raiding. There is so much to do in warcraft besides raiding and dungeons. I think Blizzards needs to consider this if only a little bit. Not everyone plays the game for raiding and to only reward players that raid is sad for people like me.
Noyou Feb 16th 2011 1:01AM
I agree with this to a point. The amount of Guild xp you get from questing isn't a whole lot. I don't know how other small guilds are doing but mine is inching towards lvl 9. We have about 6-8 dedicated questers who also run dungeons. We haven't yet taken advantage of the 3/5 thing which is a downer for me a little but we will soon* I think Blizzard has done a good job with the guild experience so far being very accommodating towards the smaller end as well as the larger ones.

Still no note on the /castsequence bug.. I've experienced it and found several threads on the official forums.. Apparently /castsequence isn't stepping past the first listed spell.
Karch Feb 15th 2011 10:10PM
My (few) warrior /castsequence macros are still working fine.
#showtooltip
/use [mod:shift] Demoralizing Shout
/castsequence [nomod] reset=25/combat Thunder Clap,Demoralizing Shout,Thunder Clap,Thunder Clap,Thunder Clap,Thunder Clap,Thunder Clap,Demoralizing Shout,Thunder Clap
Anecdote.
neogramps Feb 16th 2011 2:29AM
Not broken for me; I use a short cast sequence for dieaseases on my DK and DoTs on my lock.
Neirin Feb 16th 2011 3:40AM
I use a lot of castsequence macros and haven't encountered any problems, even on my more complicated ones. I wonder if maybe the reason there isn't an update is because blizz is having trouble reproducing the problems consistently.

Y'know, I visited Velen several times during "Love is in the Air" and I noticed that his guards seemed pretty weak compared to those in other cities.
But I figured it was because Velen is just that awesome.
