The Queue: Where the Sidewalk Ends

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky will be your host today.
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
and before the street begins,
and there the grass grows soft and white,
and there the sun burns crimson bright,
and there the moon-bird rests from his flight
to cool in the peppermint wind.
Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
and the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
we shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow
and watch where the chalk-white arrows go
to the place where the sidewalk ends.
Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
and we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
for the children, they mark, and the children, they know,
the place where the sidewalk ends.

Polydorr asked:
Is there any expressed limit to JC tokens? Or can I just stack as many as I want to get the jump on epic cuts?
There's no limit I'm aware of, so you're probably safe in just stacking them. While it's a solid bet that the epic cuts will use the JC tokens, Blizzard might come out with something else. We also don't know yet when the epic cuts will be coming; although my money is on 4.1.
Cuts asked:
As heroics are now, is it possible to heal them in PvP gear? Considering iLevel 350 and LOTS of spirit as a hot and skilled holy paladin.
No. Healing is not just spirit and intellect. It's a lot about haste, crit, spell power, talents, and knowing the fights. I'm not going to say it can't be done -- I have no doubt that a skilled group of five players who've played with each other for years could probably pull it off. But ask yourself, are you really that person? Are you really that skillful? I don't mean to burst your bubble or to be too mean here, but you're probably not. I've been running with the same folks for upwards of 5 years now, and I would never subject them to a heroic run with me healing in PvP gear.
I occasionally see people come in a random PUG who try to do this, and we either ask them to leave or, failing that, we kick them. I'll probably get a lot of flack for being a snob here, but I don't think it's appropriate to waste people's time because you don't have the inclination to get a PvE set of gear in normal dungeons first.
MoarHeroism asked:
How many instances do you need to enter to get the "you've entered too many instances recently" message, and how long do you have to wait to enter another?
You can enter up to five instances per account, per hour. If you try to enter a sixth within that hour on any character on your account, you'll get that message.
Irish asked:
When will Wow Insider get a facelift? For a site that has so much to offer, it seems to be stuck in The Twilight Zone...

Thanks for the epic throwback. Did anyone else opine for their long-lost glow-worm while reading that? =)
pxi Feb 15th 2011 11:09AM
Yes, thank you. Brought back so many memories. I loved this book as a child.
Jake Feb 15th 2011 11:17AM
I also remember a huge picture on the back of his books of his scary hairy face. I always imagined he was some sort of mythical barbarian or something.
Ronin Feb 15th 2011 11:17AM
"Pine", I think you mean. Not "opine". You pine for a lost loved one. To opine is to hold forth an opinion.
gdelo538 Feb 15th 2011 11:22AM
I still keep this book and falling up in the bathroom for commode reading
Galestrom Feb 15th 2011 11:27AM
I pine, opine, and scented pine my long lost Glowworm™. =P

@Ronin
On the other hand, if people still debate whether the poem was good or not, then the OP could have a valid question

@ Galestrom - I've managed to keep mine. He's tucked away in a box in my closet but now I have to go liberate him.
Ahh... the comics I read by glow-worm light, under the covers. Good times, good times. /sigh I'm seriously missing childhood now. XD
Galestrom Feb 15th 2011 12:56PM
Oh yes. The old-school Glowworm is the best 'beacon of light' ever. =)

Perhaps my favorite one is:
"I cannot go to school today!"
said little Peggy Ann McKay.
"I have the measles, the mumps,
a gash, a rash, and purple bumps..."
all leading up to
"I have a headache, and my heart is--WHAT?
What's that you say??
You say today is--what, Saturday?
Well, goodbye! I'm going out to play!"
**this was my motto as a child...**
Grovinofdarkhour Feb 15th 2011 11:04AM
That was beautiful, man.

Ever go back and look at one of his books? They don't really hold up.
Before anyone gets pissed at me, just remember...Adam is a gear snob. *deflection!*
Trevor Feb 15th 2011 11:36AM
Have you, (cutaia), read any of the stuff he wrote that didn't get marketed to chilluns? It rocks. Much of it is also highly unsafe for work consumption. Here's a link to Norm MacDonald reading one of them that's not too blue for the WoW Insider crew: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxKICdm4X3A
I kinda agree with you on some of those kids poems by Silverstein; the gems are more deeply buried in the chaff (to mix my metaphors) than really suits my tastes.
Trivia note: He wrote A Boy Named Sue, too. And if you don't like that, well...
Aruhgulah Feb 15th 2011 12:51PM
Shel ALSO wrote for the rock band Dr Hook & The Medicine Show ("Cover of Rolling Stone", "Freaker's Ball", "Sylvia's Mother"). And if you haven't heard "Freaker's Ball" yet, you owe it to yourself to scout down a copy, THEN play it the next time you wander through Goldshire.
(cutaia) Feb 15th 2011 12:57PM
Yeah, that went over about as well as I thought it would. :D
Galestrom Feb 15th 2011 1:11PM
They say you haven't lived until one of your comments is down-voted into oblivion.
Naturally, no one heard them say it. ;)

NSFW is right.
When I was a little kid I saw a huge coffee table book at the bookstore titled "Best of Shel Silverstein." It had a lot of his drawings in them. Eager for more Where the Sidewalk Ends, I dove right in.
It was filled with drawings of his that I hadn't seen before. Dirty, dirty drawings.
My little kiddie mind was warped irreparably.
Turns out, he was a regular contributor to Playboy. And most of his illustration work was for Playboy, not kiddie books.
Daynthebold Feb 15th 2011 3:42PM
I do believe the powers of Cutaia are fading. Quick! To the Cutmobile!
In all seriousness, It's All the Same To the Clam is a family favorite around here. So is Overdues. Even the kiddy stuff has a bit of a bite to it though. That poem above is the perfect example.

I was not attacking you, merely hoping to appeal to man's prurient nature to bring you into the fold.

Shel Silverstein! FTW!
