Breakfast Topic: What's your favorite piece of music in WoW?
World of Warcraft is a game with great sound and great sound design. Players might not always notice it, but for those of us who play with the music on, these themes can really set the tone for the game. Ashenvale music never fails to remind me of my first foray into the zone; after Darkshore, which was a bit bleak, my baby druid stepped into Ashenvale and it seemed like all of Azeroth opened up, wide and colorful and filled with swelling orchestral tracks. Though the game world seems much smaller to me now, I still remember that moment whenever I hear the Ashenvale theme.
My favorite piece of WoW music, however, has got to be the one in Mulgore. I play mainly Alliance, so I don't go there often, but every time I visit the zone for the Darkmoon Faire or head to Thunder Bluff for some holiday achievement, I'm struck by the beauty and tranquility of the Mulgore music. It really fits the environment, and it never fails to relax me when I fly through. The slow, soft yearning reminds me of the Tauren people and their culture, while the undercurrent of tension hints at the conflict brewing in the world outside that secluded valley.
What's your favorite piece of WoW music? Does it remind you of a particular time or a nostalgic feeling, or is it the pure beauty of the composition that you admire? When do you feel the WoW music is at its most epic?

I have two favorites right now for WoW music.
The first would be the new Tauren song you hear when in Mulgore, Southern Barrens, and Thousand Needles. It is very fitting for their culture and very soothing.
My other favorite is the new Night Elf song.
I like the battle music and all, but sometimes it's nice to have something with a little more melody

The music that was used in the Dwarf starting area, Winterspring, and Arathi Highlands. Something about it still gives me chills to this day.

I absolutely love the "Pirates of the Caribbean" style music that you hear in mainly Goblin areas.

Personally I have to go with the goblin music FTW. It somehow manages to sound silly and epic at the same time. Love it.

For me, it's still the entirety of the WotLK login screen music...5 minutes of absolutely fantastic music. It was hard to hear in-game because of Sindy's roaring all the time, and it's gone from the login now, but on the Wrath soundtrack disk, it's just fantastic...from the evocative "icy/windy" keening of the voices to the last part that brings in the best moments from the Black Temple, it's just a great overture for a terrific game.

I love the music in Grizzly Hills. I would go out of my way to fly through the zone just so I could hear it.

Stormwind by far. It reminds me of "Blackrock and Roll" which was a track from WC3.
Storm Peaks is great as well. I'm not as familiar with the Cata music though.

Oh, honorable mention goes to the Brohnjahm fight music. The first time I heard it I was laughing so hard I didn't mind that I didn't care that we wiped because the healer stayed out on Soulstorm. That music is perfect!

I used to love the short but beautiful melody that played whenever you entered the cathedral district in Stormwind. Every time I heard it, even tho Im not much of a rp'er, I felt compelled to /kneel for a few moments before being on my way.
Sadly it seems they've done away with it in Cata. Don't get me wrong I love the new Cataclysm songs, but I miss that sensation it used to evoke in me whenever I heard it.

The music that plays after you kill the first boss in Forge of Souls.

The music for Operation GNOMEREGAN and later for the new Gnome starting zone. It's so gritty and at the same time silly.
Gnomish battle horns = kazoos.

What an uninspired title for a thrilling little piece of music.
Quez Feb 16th 2011 4:09PM
The vanilla alliance inn music.

Oh, the answer to this is easy for me.
The music you hear at Maestra's Post/Raynewood Retreat in Ashenvale, where the NEs are under attack from Hellscream's forces. The first time I heard that music at Maestra's Post on my NE mage... I did NOT want to leave (so I didn't; I spent a good chunk of time there, attacking the invaders while listening to the music). The music is amazing.
Similarly, I like (though not as much) the Orcish music you hear at Splintertree Post, at least. It may be elsewhere, but I only really hear it at Splintertree.

I love the Pirate-y music in Booty Bay and such, as well as the incredible music in Ulduar. Oh so good.

For me it's currently a draw between Nightsong and the flute piece from thousand needles.

Totems of the Grizzlemaw is awesome especially after hearing the meaning behind the composition.
Mountains of Thunder is a close second.

I really like the music for Honor Hold in Hellfire. The trumpets are amazing. Really good fit for the zone:

Another good, more recent, one is the Argent Tournament. The night music is just awesome:

The Argent Tournament. I could sit there for hours just listening to the wonderful lilting celtic-like music.
