I get more amped and go into balls to the wall mode when I'm playing my own music – rock, techno, metal, etc

You shouldn't get downrated. Some times you need a little musical pick-me-up of your own selection to get you ready for WoW.

The score of Orff's opera "Carmina Burana" is frequently playing while I raid. I at least partially believe that it has helped my healing performance.
