I had never seen that before... I got a kick from the image with the hat in action on the Draenei. Any Tin Schafer fans should know what I mean.

Sorry for the double post, but I can't resist the urge to point out the comments in /s in the pics and the name of the Dwarf in another pic... The Dwarf is named Sparta and the picnic pic has "this is madness" in /s... Uh oh.
The hat is working!!!

What would happen if they simply adjusted the group sizes? if you add an extra dps making a group consist of 6 instead of 5 members it should also drastically reduce qeue times

It's clear that the sheer volume of players Blizzard continues to draw into WoW is being bottlenecked by the obviously and vastly rarer intuitions that would lead a new player (or heck, even seasoned players) to tank or heal. These are "responsibilities" that seasoned gamers are (sometimes grudgingly) used to, but how do you tell someone new to MMOs, a demographic Blizzard is playing to now more than ever, "awesome, glad you love our game, sadly you're either going to have to claim some responsibility to lead, or wait for the few willing to do so, to continue any further"? You just don't. You tell them to "get social" and find not just "more friends" (the packaged statement) but "the *right* friends" (the truth).
The "holy trinity" is both the selling point of WoW, as well as its Achilles heel. It has grown beyond "one in every 5 will want to lead" size, and making that one in 6, or 7 isn't going to work either.
Think of this: even with 3 DPS needed for one tank, the queue disparity of "less than a second" to "X number of minutes" is just staggering to consider. Altering those numbers one way or the other isn't going to address it, there needs to be a siphon-off point where those that want to feel progress, and like grouping, as a true "damage dealer" go to lessen that pressure on WoW: a trinity game playing to the communities of old that would support the idea. Who generates that siphon point is the big question, and you have to wonder if that will be "Titan".

hmm, the real big bad of WoW are the Spirit Healers. eating all our entropy they are!!

Maybe if they introduced a tank payment system... like say each month if you tank X number of instances you get x amount of gold as a reward, or bonus VP or JP, it would make more people who can spec tank actually spec tank.
Obviously set the number of instances you have to tank to atleast 50? so thats about 2 a day.
omedon666 Feb 18th 2011 10:12PM
Clearly you've never worked with the guy who "doesn't like tanking, I'm just here for the [currency], so keep up".
No one should be playing for any reason not spelled F-U-N.

If your talking Tinfoil Hat Editions, might I recommend Rades post over at Orcish Army Knife looking at Garrosh, Demon Blood and Sylvanas' Master Plan - it's a good read XD
Thomas Higgins Feb 20th 2011 5:30AM
Good link. The whole speculation about Sylvanas becoming Warchief is just scary.
Comito Feb 20th 2011 8:18AM
Thanks for the link, awesome possible outcome in the future, and how the in game events for this would be awesome!
