The Queue: Sacco vs. Ragequitters 3

If anyone's wondering, I've developed a surefire way to make sure no one ever gives you a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 rematch online. Three easy steps:
- Select Amaterasu as a team member.
- Switch to your Rosary weapon (D, D, H).
- Spam Cold Star (QCF+L) forever.
Anne asked:
Maybe this has already been covered, but why does all the high-level blue crafted gear have PvP stats? It's an upgrade in every other way for my PvE self, but I really resent losing, say, haste to gain resilience that I will never use and can't reforge. I understand some with PvP stats. But, really...ALL of it???
Because while you can get PvE gear from quests, dungeons, factions, and crafting, you can only get PvP gear from PvPing. The crafted gear helps make sure that you're not stuck in a catch-22 situation where you need to PvP to get resilience gear but can't really PvP without resilience gear.
Where'd my guild rep go?
Julio asked:
I have found a lot of issues with guilds now that you lose the rep with "guild faction" every time you change guilds. Is Blizz gonna fix it? Because a lot of people that "grinded" to be exalted with their guilds now fear to change guilds since they will start from zero and officers use this as a threat if members dont fully obey them.
It's not a bug -- the reputation you're gaining is with your particular guild, not all guilds in the game. There are safeguards in place to protect people in the event of a comedy gkick or an officer's bad day, like guild rep persisting for a set amount of time even after you get kicked, but guild rep persisting even through guild switches is very unlikely. All of the expensive stuff you can buy with guild rep, though, like the Dark Phoenix mount, is still useable even if you're not in a guild.
That's not to say that the guild advancement/rep system isn't stupid, just that Blizzard is unlikely to change the fundamental design principles of system.

Arcter asked:
In my recollection of WoW's hundreds of NPCs, I feel like almost all of the dragons I've met were in Blood Elf, Night Elf, Gnome or Human form, with a strong predilection towards Blood Elf. Is there any lore behind why we never (that I can recall at least) see dragons as Tauren, Troll, Orc, Goblin, Draenei, etc... or is it merely an aesthetic choice on Blizzard's part?
Dragons seem to take the form of whatever races they interact with the most, or in some cases, ones they happen to particularly like. You'll notice that most green dragons take the form of night elves, the race most connected to Ysera's domain of the Emerald Dream, whereas most black dragons take the form of humans, the race they find easiest to manipulate.

Q for the Queue:
Traveler's Tundra Mammoth, will this be updated to supply lvl 85 water/food at some point? They took items away, ie candles, that were no longer used, why couldnt/wouldnt they update the vendors.?
Task Feb 18th 2011 11:17AM
More than likely it'll come with the 4.1 patch at the earliest, or later on after a future mini patch when 4.1 breaks stuff again..
N-train Feb 18th 2011 11:21AM
Actually I believe there was a blue post that said they "had no plans to update" the Mammoth, as it was a Wrath-only kind of deal, and given that it still grants repairs just about anywhere.
I don't recall them saying anything about putting a new Cata one in, I'm just pretty sure there are no plans to update the vendor stuff.

This one!

Afraid to say, it doesn't look like this is happening at all under their current thinking - see this thread:

IDes, the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth was the gold sink of WotLK. Much in the way that the Sandstone Drake has now completely replaced the Mechano-hog (excluding battlegrounds).
Having asked around on the forums It's the general consensus amongst the players, and whilst I'm not 100% on this I think there was also a blue post confirming it, that the mammoth won't be updated for Cata. You had all of Wrath to enjoy the mammoth, but much like epics, it outdates.
As a proud owner of the mammoth I raged pretty hard but consider this, with flying in Azeroth and travel being so convenient these days, accessing a vendor for food or repairs is no longer the hassle it used to be.

Here is the blue post about it.

I find the mount ridiculously useful for raiding, after having never had a need for it in Wrath. I actually bought one during a BWD raid because there were no convenient repairs nearby. Think about it in wrath: Naxx you spawned alive in town, Ulduar you had repairs INSIDE, ToC you had repairs right outside the instance, and ICC again had repairs inside. None of the current tier of raids has repairs anywhere nearby.
Avan Feb 18th 2011 12:15PM
@Ben:
There is actually a small Thorium Brotherhood encampment north of BWD. They offer repairs there. Getting there and back should take no more than 2 minutes (on a 310% mount).

Thanks for the Blue post link... It does make sense that they want to save the portable vendors for a future mount (?). I know its a gold sink, but if I am not mistaken so is the merchandise sold by Haris Pilton, and they updated her vendor items to include the 'Portable Hole' in Wrath patch 3.3. At 20k or 16k at top rep with Kirin Tor, this still seems to be the top 'gold sink' in WoW, especially if you consider that the new toons brought up will more than likely not gain exalted rep to purchase it at a discount. Just sayin...

As a proud owner of the Traveller's Tundra Mammoth, I was pretty disappointed about not having the food upgraded but honestly, its not like im going to stop using it. Its pretty nice to have a repair vendor to dump trash from bags and to restock my poisons. If they do put out a new expensive mount, unless it has more than just updated food, im gonna pass because im still getting lots of use out of my mammoth.
I do like the idea of Blizzard adding an "upgrade option" to the mammoth. Maybe, say, all together (mount and the upgrade) the mammoth will cost just as much as the new mount if not a little more. That way people who have the mammoth will not be dishing out a ton of gold just to have the ability to buy cata food. But we shall see.
Bapo Feb 18th 2011 3:02PM
So... So.. Does this mean there will be one for cata?
I can see it now. It'll be a flying mount with vendors that you can kick off to pick up raid members (That would also be awesome just to kick the vendors off during mid flight, and there's only one flying mount with a passenger slot to my knowledge). And it will be something else other than a drake :D
Ok, that last part is me just dreaming / wishing, it's Blizz, it's gonna be a drake : /
SR Feb 18th 2011 7:53PM
Let us pray that Blizzard will team up with Bungie to bring us the Warthog.... a 4+1 passenger mount with a repair guy, a food guy, a tradeskill guy, and an angry dwarf riding shotgun.... with a shotgun.
Halimain Feb 18th 2011 10:49PM
"They took items away (i.e. candles) that were no longer used, why couldn't/wouldn't they update the vendors?"
It's because they changed the item in the database to grey non-purchasable items. It had nothing to do with the default vendor set up for most vendor databases, including the mount vendors.
There is no point doing more than that.
TLDR: They just changed the item, not the vendor.
Tri Feb 18th 2011 11:07AM
Also, the red dragon Rheastrasza (in Badlands) takes a goblin form :)
JoeHelfrich Feb 18th 2011 11:30AM
And isn't one of the Netherwing dragons in Goblin form?
erknost Feb 18th 2011 11:33AM
And by the way most of the dragon DO NOT take the for of a Blood Elf instead the toke the for of a High Elf (mainly a Blood Elf before the taint of Fel Energy and before join the Horde). And any dragon has a orc or draenei for because both races are very much "New" to Azeroth. Trolls and Goblin have they story but they have not being very high intention races, but rather very dominant and destructive: And tauren they use to be a very plain and secondary until Thrall have come to save them.
Klausse Feb 18th 2011 11:44AM
I want to see a Drunken Dwarf Dragon!

Translation of erknost's post if you are having trouble reading it
"By the way, most dragons do not take the form of Blood Elves. They are High Elves. (High Elves are Blood Elves before they were tainted by Fel Energy and before they joined the Horde.) Dragons do not take on the form of Orc or Draenei because both of those races are new to Azeroth. Trolls and Goblins are too dominant and destructive. Taurens were too plain until Thrall came to save them."
