Patch 4.0.6 hotfixes for Feb. 19

Since the release of Patch 4.0.6, we've had a pretty steady stream of hotfix announcements, each one providing fairly substantial lists of changes over the past several weeks. Today, we've got what is less of a hotfix and more of a little note, courtesy of Community Manager Zarhym:
Classes
- Hunters
- The changes to Aimed Shot and Aspect of the Hawk announced yesterday have not yet been applied to live realms and should not go into effect until after the holiday weekend.
The changes referred to are the two hunter hotfixes from yesterday's list. Aimed Shot damage for hunters will be decreased to approximately 160% weapon damage at level 80+, down from 200%, and Aspect of the Hawk will provide an additional 2,000 attack power for hunters at level 85. These changes will presumably go live after Tuesday's maintenance.

2000? That is quite a buff.
At least it's not over...
Nah, not going to go there.

@Utakata
We have a family day here as well, but its also known as Louis Riel Day.

What holiday weekend?
Pyromelter Feb 20th 2011 7:02AM
It's Babebraham Lincoln day. Also the guy who chopped down the cherry tree and then didn't lie about it.
And if you aren't American, what that means is that it's President's weekend, a federal holiday in the USA that government employees will have off on this coming monday. Most grade schools have the day off too, although many universities remain open.
WaterRouge Feb 20th 2011 8:23AM
I still don't get why we care that Washington didn't lie about chopping the cherry tree down. I'm not a history major but I'm pretty sure his dad would've known it was him anyway and that he wasn't chosen as the first president based on his moral fiber as a youngster.
Could you imagine if 80% of President Obama's votes were guaranteed simply because he went to Woodstock or not?
Terrant Feb 20th 2011 9:04AM
@WaterRouge Well, *I* care because painting a kumquat tree red got Washington to chop it down in Day of the Tentacle!
Billlop Feb 20th 2011 9:30AM
Thats actually a myth thats been spread. Washington didnt cut down any cherry tree, he lied quite a lot as a child and his father didnt reward him for "being truthful". The more you know.
Utakata Feb 20th 2011 9:51AM
We just call it "Family Day" here in Ontario. :)
*Inb4 somone says, "Eff'in Canadian, eh?"*

@Terrant That's crazy talk, it would never work. It's like trying to make it rain just by washing a carriage.

More fun facts: ** This holiday is designated as "Washington’s Birthday" in section 6103(a) of title 5 of the United States Code, which is the law that specifies holidays for Federal employees. Though other institutions such as state and local governments and private businesses may use other names, it is our policy to always refer to holidays by the names designated in the law.
From the www.opm.gov website :D
And the chemical composition of hydrogen peroxide (the stuff that turns your hair white, and is good at cleaning wounds etc) is H2O2, which means its just oxygenated water
Easy way to do derivities: take the exponent, multiply by the number preceding the variable, and drop the exponent by 1. Example: deriv of 3x^2 is 6x
Example2: 3x^3+2x^2+3 would be 9x^2+4x

Guard it well.

I may just be out of the loop, have any other mm hunters noticed a bug with Trueshot aura ? Just seems to come on whenever it feels like it. At least I don't see it in my spellbook or buff bar, but I do have it talented. Are their other buffs that cancel it ? Maybe I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.
Sterling Feb 20th 2011 10:48AM
A paladin's Blessing of Might will trump Trueshot Aura.

Attack Power Buff (Multiplier): [Abomination's Might], [Trueshot Aura], [Unleashed Rage]

Translation:
GC is on his yacht, and they asked for hunter fixes. He used his Blackberry and added an extra 0 to "200 attack power" - a smart Blizzard fellow questioned the "2000" and they decided to wait for clarification.

I'm happy to see this little buff to all hunters, as it was needed. Still, I'm happy to say that I feel this is one of the FEW buffs hunters needed. As a class, we're doing pretty well. Multishot has proven a viable replacement for volley, the new stables system is better than ever, and we're seen as some of the most reliable CC around.
In short: Hunters are awesome, give the hunter in your life a hug, because it costs you nothing and lets them know they're doing well.

Dammit, I thought this was already live last night and felt relieved that my Aimed Shot was still landing 50-60k crits. I went through the whole denial-anger-acceptance nerf process, but now I have to do it all over again. Guess that's what I get for running heroics while drunk with impaired mathematical skills.
Ickabob Feb 20th 2011 1:04PM
I was running through an entire heroic last night thinking I was inadequate from the nerfs. As a result, my dps suffered. Had I known, I'd probly out dps'd that lolmage. That 2000 attack power aspect of the hawk sounds intriguing, though.

Obama would have been 8 during the original Woodstock, so I'm not sure what sort of horrible acts he would have committed as such a young child. Also it would have been quite a travel to go from Hawaii to New York just to view a music festival, however historic it would become.
squig_masta Feb 20th 2011 3:44PM
My Parents traveled from Northern British Columbia to New York for it, so I don't see how Hawaii would be that much worse. Granted, they were in there 20 somethings and crazy flower smelling hippies at the time, so the trip might be slighly harder for an 8 year old to make.
