What WoW mobile app would you like to see next?

For those of us who simply can't get enough WoW time in while we're in front of a computer, Blizzard has already created the Mobile Armory and Mobile Auction House applications. We can look up character stats, achievements, gear, and talents as well as buy, sell, and collect gold from our auction house deals. These are very cool tools to give yourself a little more Warcraft on the go or at work.
I think there are a lot more possibilities, though. There's a new app out there that can solve sudoku puzzles just by taking a picture of them. There's an app that can tell you where you are based on star constellations or tell you what the sky looks like above you based on your GPS and the angle of your phone.
Don't you think WoW could take advantage of some of these amazing advances in phone technology? What about an app for crafting? It could work in conjunction with the auction house application and let you do crafting from your smart phone. I can picture an easy interface that would be similar to our in-game crafting menu, showing the recipes with the sort by categories such as item type, materials on hand, or gem color. Of course, considering how fast our technology is rolling out, it might not be too long before we could see a slimmed-down version of Warcraft in our hands. Can you imagine WoW Lite? It probably wouldn't be suitable for raiding, but questing, gathering, or maybe easy dungeons could be a blast on a long bus ride.
Would you get excited about a crafting app or WoW Lite, or is there another application idea you've been dying to see Blizzard develop?

Wish they would start working on porting their apps to WP7, I do so love my HTC HD7
Sauce Feb 24th 2011 4:26AM
I could not agree more! I love my HTC7 Trophy but want good and official WoW apps! Android and us ASAP!

Hey I got another one! The ability to create a toon from your mobile. Tight right? Or what about a good Rez stream link from armory app to watch cinematics, /drool if that included a drop down menu of all the new quest machinima too.
Drakkenfyre Feb 23rd 2011 10:21PM
You can just link the videos to YouTube. The cinematics are all already up there. No need for an app for that.
The in-game videos are done with the game engine. They can't show them, at least for your character, unless you have the game installed and can run it.

Full feature parody between the Android and iPhone apps. I wish the Android app did more.

Honestly? Wowhead. The Mobile Armory item search is awful

I'd love for Blizzard to create a framework that would allow an IM client to connect to your guild's guild line and be able to send IMs to logged-in RealID friends (and have them be able to respond to you).
Sometimes I have no real desire to play WoW, but I'd still like to be able to interact in the social aspect. Running WoW as a glorified IM client, in those cases, is pretty inefficient. ;)

Something for the Blackberry would be nice.

An application to talk in your guild chat while away.

I've been hoping that they take the existing WoW app for the iPhone and expand it to where it can be used on the iPad. It should be a pretty simple upgrade...

How about before they start wasting time creating a new app they fix the current one. Out of the top of my head: show mastery on items, show reforging, show guild achievements, fix descriptions of items (e.g. Illusionary Bag only needs 5 dreamcloth, in my dreams!), etc. There are many more that I can't think of right now. I think they should FIRST fix the current app to work decently, then we can start talking about new apps.

Guild and or trade chat would be good especially if you could stay logged in to trade while your off questing but a crafting add-on to the current armory/auction house would be very useful buy the mats off the AH turn into items and sell on the AH all while riding the bus
Angrycelt Feb 23rd 2011 11:32PM
Android armory and guild chat. Although the "light" game sounds interesting for crafting and AH.

This isn't really an app idea for a phone, but something definitely to consider to make Battle.net more accessible, and could be migrated to a phone afterwards or even as it's created.
Battle.net messenger, pretty much just like MSN or AIM. Basically it'd be a standalone chat program, so you don't need to log into WoW to chat with your friends, in case you're out of game time or something like that. This could easily be integrated onto a phone, so if you can't make it to a raid or something because you're out, you can just open the Battle.net Messenger app on your phone and let someone know. Just an idea.

A fishing app, blizzard has looked for a way to improve fishing forever the best way for me would be able to let me do it while I am in line at the bank or on my lunch break at work. fishing is basically an extremely low risk time investment give me a way to fish and have those fish wind up in my in game mailbox.

I would love to be able to approve my raid roster directly from the mobile armoury. If I could also access guild chat, bonus!

First suggestion: Inventory Management. The ability to mail alts both on that server and cross servers and factions. Added Bonus Account Bank (like a Guild Bank but only for your toons. Each tab can be purchased for real money and each additonal tab would go up in value up to a Blizzard happy amount) I'm thinking this is actually worth it's own monthly subscription but I would love for it just to be included. //Side Note: The ability to sell to vendors would be nice for the grays you didn't realize were in your bags.
Second: Ablity to send mail (text only no presents) to people in your guild/Friends list/ or real ID. Also whisper if in game. One up that with Group Chat (like party chat and IM group chat)
Finally: I would love to see the ability to craft with mats in your bag. Guildies could be mailed items from the GM. You could go to the armory and open your mail and put them in your bag and whip out the flasks. Then when you get home pop them into the guild bank. Sigh - a person can dream. I'm torn between people having access to the guild bank out of game, but that's an entirely different matter.

I forgot my game idea. A dungeon walk through game. It would be the dungeon with the bosses and mobs and everything. No real loot, no real anything that would affect ingame life. The benifit would be to play the dungeon and learn the format of the dungeon, get an idea of the boss fights (even though they are seriously scaled down to be soloed by any class). It would be purely to get the lay of the land and have a little fun. Heroics, raids, they could be studied this way even though it would be just on this side of watching a youtube of the fight. Maybe each option can be purchased by teir, Vinalla, BC, Wrath, Cat. I really would love this. It would get people a little used to what to expect.
