If you lamented the loss of the Zul'Gurub mounts when ZG went away or always regretted missing out on an Amani War Bear, then rejoice! Apparently,
patch 4.1 has all sorts of surprises for you, according to those fine feathered friends at
MMO-Champion. Not only are both Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman
returning as 5-man instances, but the various mounts that both instances were famous for are coming back with new skins.
In addition to this news, there are several pets and mounts that are currently known primarily through datamining:
New mounts include the following:
That's a substantial amount of new non-combat pets and mounts. If, like me, you love someone who is a rabid pet and mount collector (or you happen to be one of those yourself), the new Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman will be places you can expect to see a lot of once 4.1 drops.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
has destroyed Azeroth as we know it; nothing is the same! In WoW Insider's Guide to Cataclysm, you can find out everything you need to know about WoW's third expansion, from leveling up a new goblin or worgen to breaking news and strategies on endgame play.

Cool! Too bad I cancelled and am starting RIFT today.
Sorry WoW - you were about 1 week too late on this.
CYA next expansion!
ciao bella!

You will be back very soon... Trust me.

See you next Tuesday for the weekly complain-about-server-maintenance group meeting
Darky Feb 24th 2011 7:09AM
No bear...sad face.
razion Feb 24th 2011 8:25AM
Remember that 4.1 is still on the PTR--they could very well fix in a new bear mount, which is what I'm assuming they will do, as they've gone through to make new versions of the other mounts.
Inexorability Feb 24th 2011 12:10PM
Yes bear...happy face!
It's in the second paragraph under The Return of Zul'Aman: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/2356431

If you read the patch info
http://wow.joystiq.com/2011/02/24/patch-4-1-ptr-the-return-of-zulgurub/
It clearly says there is to be a new bear mount.
"With the return of Zul'aman, you may be curious, can you once again get the rare mount? We are please to announce a new version of the rare raptor, tiger and bear mounts, while the older mounts will still retain their uniqueness. We will share more information about how to obtain these mounts in the future. "

nice nice, more petsss
please also new achievement, 150 pets and 140 mounts would be good. Or more i already got those ammounts anyway.
Then only the real collecters have this epic achievement.
Sagretti Feb 24th 2011 8:31AM
The reason it can't be a 150 pet achievement is that it would then require people either have pets that are no longer available (removed from game, special event, anniversary, etc.), or make them spend money on the pet store/card game pets. My collection is still a few short of 150, and I have a bunch of pets in that collection that are no longer available and a few that cost money (charity pets and Lil XT). I'm not even sure a newer player could make that number at the moment unless they invested a lot of extra money.
egburr Feb 24th 2011 10:31AM
I have 135 pets currently, and NONE of them are from outside the game (blizzard store, trading card game, blizzcon, etc.) except for the core hound for having an authenticator. Some of them are no longer available, so I can understand not raising the bar too much. But it is kind of annoying that I will get all these new pets achievements completed instantly upon logging in after the patch, with nothing further to work toward.
Cata rox Feb 24th 2011 7:28AM
It might just be my phone, but I'm not seeing any models here. Can someone direct me in the right direction? Also, I'm happy that they added a lot of mounts. It MIGHT make up for the RNG of one of them.
tgrhwke Feb 24th 2011 7:44AM
Actual pictures of the mounts and pets haven't been released yet.
Noekh Feb 24th 2011 7:34AM
WoW Insider, you're the best. I was feeling pretty down this morning until I read this. Now I'm all excited! Any idea when the patch drops? (I've been away from WoW for some time, and haven't gotten into "the swing of things" just yet.)
Nina Katarina Feb 24th 2011 8:51AM
I suspect that the patch won't drop until end of March/beginning of April at the earliest.
Ishammel Feb 24th 2011 7:45AM
"That's a substantial amount of new non combat pets and mounts."
Should read: That's a substantial NUMBER of new non combat pets and mounts.
Zenith Feb 24th 2011 7:52AM
Flameward hippogryph is obviously a hyjal mount, beryl and crimson firehawks would be more alliance/horde pets like at the argent tourney, I just wonder if there will be more JOUSTing
Noyou Feb 24th 2011 11:47AM
There already is more jousting. Unfortunately it's grab ass in a frickin cave with fire dropping from the ceiling :)
Felix_NZ Feb 27th 2011 4:47PM
Noyou - obviously too young to remember Atari's 'the Joust'.
