I'm sure you wrote this article before the patch 4.1 stuff, but as data-mined by MMO-Champion very recently both the Oceanographer and the Limnologist have thankfully been slightly nerfed. For example, the Bloated Salmon is NOT required for the Oceanographer in patch 4.1 (Of course that would happen as soon as you decide to write an article about it :P).

In case I wasn't clear, these nerfs in 4.1 are absolutely a positive change. Some of those Bloated Fish like the salmon are, as you said, a complete nightmare. It certainly made no sense to have a list of 32 relatively common catches with 1 painfully rare one.

This isn't the first time in recent memory that Blizzard has basically made bits from the OverAchiever irrelevant between writing and publishing. I think they're out to get Allison.

Frankly, it was a dumb idea to ever require the bloated fish. The idea is that as a limnologist or oceanographer your goal is to collect a specimen of every species of fish. You shouldn't care if the dumb fish is bloated or not. It's a welcome change from Blizzard and it's just unfortunate that the announcement made this article outdated before it even got published.
