The problem is, the moment you add in the ability to get epic drops from fishing, you open up the can of worms that Archaeology did. (Go read the official professions forums if you're unfamiliar with what I'm talking about. They are absolutely chock full of people complaining that their grind has given them whatever item they feel they should have had ages ago, how it's ruined the game, and how they're quitting because of it.)
No, I think fishing is fine the way it is. I don't need epics. Just give me a beer, and some time fishing, and I can be happy.
