Patch 4.1 PTR: Heirloom guild tabards aid reputation gains

These Bind to Account tabards are likely purchased at revered (Illustrious) and exalted (Renowned) reputations with your guild, making leveling additional characters through guild reputation that much easier. Additionally, assuming you get to keep the item upon leaving a guild, it should make the re-leveling process that much easier. Losing your exalted guild reputation for one reason or another and ending up neutral in your next guild can be a painful, painful thing. These tabards will help soothe that pain.
Judging by the sell-to-vendor prices on Wowhead, the Illustrious tabard will cost 125 gold and the Renowned tabard will cost you 250 gold.

Ah, that makes them MUCH better. Part of me wishes that I could get them for my main already, but this definitely helps combat guild looters and addresses the alt problem.
Good show Bliz.

Part of me is really glad they are adding these!
The other part of me feels like the 50% one should be avaliable at honored.
Then the other part kicks in and makes the QQ go away!

no point if they wont remove/change weekly cap.
weekly cap is extremely easy to reach when you are leveling.. and if you are 85 and raiding and doing 20 dailies, you will hit cap in 3 days.
Saeadame Feb 26th 2011 1:37PM
Ehhh but not everyone does that. I'm done leveling, I don't do dailies, and I can never find enough people in my guild to do guild dungeon runs. I don't think I've hit the Guild XP cap since I hit 85, meaning I'm still only a little ways into honored. Sucks, 'cause my guild just got the Phoenix mount, but I can't get it XD;;.

The point is/was/will be we knew about the guild leveling system for a few months before cata hit. You had plenty of time to sort out whether you liked your guild or not. Baring any unforeseen drama that happened since cata of course one could have had ample time to pick out a new guild and start on leveling with the said organization. Since you get the best rep from dailies and there is a weekly cap you should never really run out of quests. Yes, it is a long grind to recap the rep you lose but this is the price for playing "drop my guild". These new tabards will help a great deal. As for the weekly cap issue, the really big guilds will have no problem because at a certain point the cap goes away if I am not mistaken. So if you want to duck out on that nice guild who helped you level/raid/etc. and jump to that really cool raiding guild, chances are you will have no cap once you get there.

"Baring any unforeseen drama that happened since cata of course one could have had ample time to pick out a new guild and start on leveling with the said organization."
Right because guilds don't change, people don't change, drama never occurs, real life stuff doesn't happen to people.
Oh wait yes they do. All the freakin time.
The weekly cap is flat out stupid. There is no weekly or daily cap on any other reputation on the game.

I'm wondering why anyone would assume that you get to keep the tabard even if you're no longer in the guild. It's like trying to use your Target team member discount card after they've fired your hienie.

*looks at Bind to Account*
Also, they said once you buy a guild reward, you keep it even if you leave that guild.

I can understand keeping certain items but my guess is that with these tabards in particular, won't work for any new guild until you've reached the necessary reputation level to actually buy them from the new guild, even if you already have them.
In relation to guild rep: It really isn't that hard to get up. If you don't do quests, dailies or dungeons/raids at 85 then how else do you expect to get it up? Quests and dungeons are the two main ways to get it up and the quests are by far the easiest method of the two.

Fact is you can get capped in ONE Saturday afternoon if you've got four other guildies who somehow feel that running all the heroics is a good idea. They really ought to double the cap at the very least. As is it takes months to hit a higher reputation with a guild, and that's just painful.

While the tabards are a nice addition for alts, I don't suspect I'll be using one on my main for the reason that getting to the weekly cap is just too darn easy with all the Tol Barad dailies I can do.
badplanetkevin Feb 26th 2011 1:31PM
As a guild leader, this appeals to me in the sense that my alts (which are all in my guild) can reach the same reputation as my main and get the same rewards. It kind of bothers me that guild leaders don't have a slight advantage to the rep gains. My hunter is my main, and the guild leader, but I roll a priest so that we can do guild raids or instances. It is kind of painful when my only reputation gained is from dailies. These tabbards will help since my Priest can grab the tabbard and give it to my hunter.
This does beg to question...how is this going to prevent people from getting exalted in one guild, giving one's alt the tabbard and joining a different guild while your main stays in the exalted guild?
Perhaps its not that big of a deal, but I assumed blizz wanted folks to work their rep up in new guilds. This will make that trivial as long as one of your toons opens the tabbards in one of your 10 guilds.

Currently on the PTR, the Illustrious Guild Tabard is available at Friendly and the Renowned Guild Tabard is available at honored. This is obviously subject to change before live.

Omg... how awesome is it that there's a cutaia.net!?!?!
More awesome than words can express.
Noyou Feb 26th 2011 1:44PM
Nice work captain. I think friendly/honored is perfect if it stays as is. I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard either makes the weekly cap a little larger or lowers the guild level in which you can unlock it. I know all my members will be very excited about this.

"Omg... how awesome is it that there's a cutaia.net!?!?!"
Considering how much I've sucked at updating it for a long time...not very. :(
Vani Feb 26th 2011 3:10PM
OH MAI GOD a (cutaia) website? Sweet! Updates or not it's still awesome!
alpha5099 Feb 26th 2011 1:34PM
Considering I recently switched guilds, I was really hoping these'd be of more use for my main.
Blayze Feb 26th 2011 1:47PM
Now all we need are Championing tabards for every faction, including the pointless and removed ones (Because hey, them entries in our reputation panes might as well fill up to maximum if they're not going to count for anything).
Saz Feb 26th 2011 1:52PM
I'm absolutely loving the idea of these tabards. Having to grind up rep once is usually hard enough on some folks; having to do it multiple times to open up your alts to get the same benefits can be downright painful. This should ease the alt reputation pains just a touch.
