Patch 4.1 PTR: Trinkets of tier 12

The full list of trinkets is behind the break below (and it's quite a list), but I wanted to highlight a couple of them, as they have some fairly unique mechanics. Note that the numbers I cite below are from the heroic versions of the trinkets.
- Stay of Execution In addition to an impressive amount of dodge, this trinket has an on-use effect. "Absorbs up to 29125 damage for 30 sec, but once the absorb expires, you take 20% of the damage absorbed every 3 sec for 12 sec." Assuming you use the entire absorption bubble, that's 5,825 damage every 3 seconds. In most situations, that certainly makes that damage spike much more manageable. Of course, use it at the wrong time and you end up with a DoT ticking away as soon as a boss's enrage kicks in.
- Hungerer In addition to a glob of agility, "When using an ability causes your Energy or Focus to fall below 20% of your maximum, you will gain 1730 haste rating for 15 sec. This cannot occur more often than once per minute." Except in situations where you're pooling Energy or Focus to apply a debuff or interrupt a spell, all classes that can use this trinket bottom out their resources rather frequently. The cooldown will determine the trinket's power and not the actual mechanic of the trinket's proc, but on the surface it seems much more interesting. Time (and theorycrafting) will tell if it actually proves useful, though.
Tanks Healers Caster DPS Strength DPS Agility DPS Judging by the name of some of these trinkets, we're likely to see at least a few of them dropping off of Ragnaros himself in the Firelands raid. Or perhaps they'll all simply cost valor points. Wouldn't that be nice? Considering their heroic status, however, that seems unlikely. Some of these items are also obvious nods to items from vanilla WoW -- Aqual Quintessence, Essence of the Pure Flame, and Ancient Petrified Leaf, for example.
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm has destroyed Azeroth as we know it; nothing is the same! In WoW Insider's Guide to Cataclysm, you can find out everything you need to know about WoW's third expansion, from leveling up a new goblin or worgen to breaking news and strategies on endgame play.

Scales of Life looks more like a tank trinket
Alex Ziebart Feb 26th 2011 10:07PM
It is, and I have moved it appropriately! Must've had a brain fart when organizing them.

On the subject of Scales of Life: I'm getting really sick of Blizzard putting out things that have "magic number" benefits (i.e., static bonuses that don't scale) that are outdated before they released. 7k is a tiny, tiny drop in the pool of any raiding tank's HP. I'm not even fully epic'd yet, and I'm over 165k *unbuffed*. That makes a 7,000 HP self-heal a tiny drop in the bucket: much less than 5% of my health in a raid.

I think that tool tip is just confusing, if you think about it, it COULD mean:
"Stores up to 7000 from each overheal, no predefined limit" Which would essentially make it a LoH for yourself in the even of an OH SH*T situation, or if your healer died/fear/spiked/MC'ed/etc. and u needed to bring yourself up to keep from dieing and wasting a BR(honestly I HATE THIS, BR shouldn't be a common sight, having to use it means something went wrong).
that would certainly make more sense, otherwise, this trinket seems to be more of a BC power one, in wrath it would have been next to useless, and is even worse in cata.
Honestly tho, its tool tip is DAMNED confusing....

I agree about the Scales of Life being horrible. The on equip stamina is nice, but the use power is a joke, made even worse when one considers that it's 7k on the heroic version of the trinket. The regular version is probably so little self-healing as to be insulting. Raiding aside, 7k is not even one hit from a trash mob in a Cata heroic.

shouldn't scales of life be listed under tank trinkets... since it stores overhealing done TO you, not BY you, and it has stam....

beaten to the punch -_-

Does blizzard hate haste for casters or something? Are we not supposed to use that anymore? Just wondering. /endrant
The Lightening Capacitor looks fun though.

Try leveling items. Items which had Spell Power on it before, like items from the random dungeon bags, had the Spell Power replaced by Haste.
Schmitticus Feb 27th 2011 1:04AM
it may just be that i am still undergeared, but i run out of mana pretty fast sometimes and adding more haste means i run out of mana faster. if u replace that haste with mastery, crit, or int, you get more bang for each cast and because its slow, u have enough time to regain some of that mana

The same thing happened with Hit rating in Ulduar. Then, when we got around to ICC, we were swimming in it.

The agil trink needs to add "or when you cast lightning bolt or chain lightning with 5 stacks of maelstrom weapon." And something similar for feral druids. No fair adding awesome agil trink that Enhance and feral can't use. Also, my inscriptor sad that darkmoon cards will be garbage again.
Harvoc Feb 26th 2011 10:51PM
Don't Feral Druids in Cat Form use Energy?
zura Feb 28th 2011 7:29AM
oops. still doesn't help my enhance shammy. I think of druids as mana-users like us shaman, forgot that kitties get energy bar. Been a while since I gave up on my druid.
Saeadame Feb 27th 2011 2:10AM
Enhance Shaman is the only Agility DPS class that can't use all three trinkets (as feral kitty druids use energy, same as rogues).
Also, I suspect Darkmoon Card: Tsunami will continue to be something healers swap in when they need more longevity/regen for a fight. Jaws of defeat looks interesting, for sure, but if you don't have it or you want to have constant, passive regen all the time, DMC:T is a better choice.
But yes, the others will probably be "garbage."
jevers Feb 28th 2011 3:29AM
Haste is garbage for enhance shamans anyway...I would let the rogues and hunters take the trinket even if it did have a chance to proc from my MW5 lightning bolts.
Marissa Feb 26th 2011 10:18PM
They look like big, good, strong trinkets, don't they?
I always thought that's what they were.
BigB Feb 26th 2011 10:47PM
Rock eater! Or is it rock biter?
Kole Feb 27th 2011 12:28AM
Rockbiter
Tsoi Feb 26th 2011 10:19PM
Calling it now... Variable Pulse Lightning Capacitor will drop off one of the easiest bosses in the new tier...
....BUT IT WILL NEVER, EVER DROP!
