Patch 4.1 PTR: Every Man for Himself's new animation
Long gone are the days of the human racial ability Every Man for Himself being a mere swirly sparkle. As of patch 4.1, it is now a swirly sparkle and a Stormwind crest over your head. Huzzah!
All joking aside, I'm a fan. I think faction pride is important and the little touches like these help you identify with your race and faction, even if it's a largely superficial addition. I'd like to see more of it.

It's our Alliance (or, for the orcs, Horde), we just let the rest of you be in it.

It's probably more to make it obvious that you've used it in Arena/PvP.
wutsconflag Feb 28th 2011 9:11PM
With the recent change to Hunter's Master's Call, this is likely pretty accurate. It would seem Blizzard is definitely trying to make these sort of abilities more noticeable for other people around them.
trefpoid Feb 28th 2011 8:20PM
well, at least now we'll know for sure when they have burned their racial and hate humans a iittle more every time they do it >:(
razion Feb 28th 2011 8:47PM
Remember that the PvP trinkets are also being upgraded in a similar fashion--the new spells will look the same as each other, you won't notice a difference (besides it now being more noticeable, of course).
restodr00d Feb 28th 2011 8:33PM
This is awesome, now I just have to really pay attention when a human uses a trinket after the racial, snare it, stun it, etc. and burn him down! yai :D
razion Feb 28th 2011 8:54PM
They share a cool-down, you shouldn't needlessly waste two minutes...

Honestly, I really am not liking it very much--not the shield so much (because the shield is amazing) but rather the effect and animation they chose for it. I guess I just assumed the effect would look a bit more like a human peasant throwing his hands in the air, thrusting his legs every which way while yelling hysterically, "IT'S EVERY BLOODY MAN FOR HIMSEEEEEELFF AARRRRGH!" with a blue explosion of light.
Or something to that effect... like, tripping horribly or bounding forward clumsily, a somersault, or doing a sort of 'break out' motion like busting out of an imaginary bubble or tearing off handcuffs.

I picture a LooneyToons type "running-in-place-curling-up-the-rug-before-bolting-away" animation.
. . . complete with sound effects.
Drakkenfyre Feb 28th 2011 8:39PM
Nice. Makes it stand out from the PVP trinket.
razion Feb 28th 2011 8:51PM
Only for a brief while, though, as the trinkets are expecting a similar spell upgrade shortly. Be expecting the Alliance PvP trinkets to have the same spell-look further on in the PTR (with the Horde, of course, getting their own equivalent).
Tsuki Feb 28th 2011 8:39PM
Nice. Ally pride Ftw or what!
Mr. Tastix Feb 28th 2011 8:45PM
Sweet, now I'll be able to see when somebody trinkets in Arena (aside from the fact that I use a spelltracker anyway).
Dreyja Feb 28th 2011 8:51PM
KK I want something this shiny for dwarves now PLZ. Make it SO! X-D
razion Feb 28th 2011 8:57PM
They have improved Stoneform recently to make the Dwarves larger... I am hoping in a future patch down the road that it will actually turn them into honest-to-Titan Earthen, because that would undeniably be amazing.
gewalt Feb 28th 2011 9:11PM
stoneform just got an overhaul, it makes you uber big.
Kylenne Feb 28th 2011 9:54PM
You want shiny? Even your KING is shiny.
...that was in poor taste, I'm sorry. XD
Dreyja Mar 1st 2011 3:38PM
D'oh @ Kylenee - /cry TOO SOON! /weep
MEANIE X-p
Vitoli Feb 28th 2011 9:15PM
Not that I'm against this necessarily but why would you show a symbol of unity when using an ability called "Every Man for Himself"? That aside, nice to see little cosmetic details being added.
Krz Feb 28th 2011 9:55PM
this!
