I already laid out all my responses to you regarding my thoughts on Blizzard. I'm not going to respond again cause I don't need to. If you interpret all of my criticisms as hearts and sunshine then you're only reading what you want to read. I have continually expressed my doubt in Blizzard's desire and ability to balance their game.
I will respond to your PvE argument though, namely your statement about the shield change affecting Rapture.
The shield-before-incoming-AoE Rapture trick you referred to doesn't work anymore and hasn't worked all of Cata (you'd know this if you read my column regularly =D) If multiple shields break at a time, you will only get the return for one. When it comes to mana, placing more shields before AoE does nothing but spend it. If you're concerned about Rapture procs, you can download an addon at Curse.com to track the cooldown and tighten up the time between Rapture procs to as close to 12 seconds as you possibly can (by applying shields to the right targets at the right time) but you will never get more than 6% of your mana back every 12 seconds. The change won't affect Rature since placing shields on the tanks alone is enough to make sure you're proccing Rapture every cooldown or shortly after every cooldown, and since most priests are already placing shields on the tank every time weakened soul is up, this shouldn't be much of a change to playstyle.
As for overhealing I'd like you to explain a situation in which overhealing is going to occur and why exactly it's a bad thing. It's a really weird angle to argue from because overhealing only occurs if the priest wants it to. The way I see it, if you use your shields on the right targets (targets taking damage) they'll be fully consumed. If you use your shields on the wrong targets (targets not taking damage) they won't be fully consumed. The penalty for choosing the wrong target is the waste. Those are the same rules normal healing spells play by - if you cast Prayer of Healing on group 5, but only 2 people are hurt. The wasted healing on the other three members of the group is the penalty. The change does not increase overhealing, it just increases the amount of wrong targets you can choose to shield - it won't increase your overhealing if you select the right target. That means overhealing comes down to skill. If you don't want to overheal, you have to make decisions, and whether that is good or bad, it's what Blizzard has said they want. If you make a conscious decision to shield a wrong target, that's your decision to overheal, just like it's your decision to overheal 3 people when you use PoH on 2. Arguing against the change because of overhealing is like defending bad decision making.
