Patch 4.0.6 hotfixes for March 1

PvP
- Flag carriers in rated Battlegrounds now take 25% more damage from all magical and physical attacks. The 25% additional damage from carrying the flag stacks with the Focus and Brutal Assault debuffs. Flag carriers in normal Battlegrounds are not affected by this change.
-
Tol Barad Peninsula
- The quest "Walk A Mile In Their Shoes" has not always been correctly awarding players with quest credit after completing the escort event. This quest is being temporarily disabled and removed from the achievement criteria for Just Another Day in Tol Barad. This fix will require a realm restart to take effect.

Interesting about that Tol Barad quest change. I've never had a problem with it, but I constantly heard people whining about it. I always figured they were doing it wrong (i.e. starting the escort and then running off expecting him to follow). Guess I was wrong and one of the few that wasn't having trouble with it.
Necromann Mar 1st 2011 11:24PM
It only bugged for me once, my first time. He just kept running and running. The rest of the time it was fine. Although once he rode the horse away in bear form.

Honestly, that's why I wont do this quest, the re spawns are a pain, and that stupid Gnome wonders off in the wrong direction into mobs allowing the ones I just killed to re spawn, as many times as hes been captured, you would think He would know where the dam exit is, I say let him rot.

I've never had it bug for me, barring him deciding to run across half of the island after some guy with an objectionable hat.... though I suppose maybe that's the problem, even after the fix to supposedly stop that behavior. He's still the most annoying subject of an escort since Natalya.

It's not that they were doing it wrong, it's that the NPC is so unfathomably stupid as to ignore the exit right in front of his face, then wander up some stairs, as if the exit would somehow be up there.
Boobah Mar 2nd 2011 3:01AM
The problem with the quest isn't that the prisoner is an idiot that can't recognize the exit; the problem is that he frequently decides that there's something more important than following his scripted path. If you're lucky, you can find a guard to fight; the prisoner will help, and if you drag the two of them close enough to where the prisoner jumped off his rails he'll continue the quest.
Or not, and then you can start another attempt, and hope he doesn't bug out.
And then just abandon the quest in disgust.

I was following him up the stairs one day and he simply ran in place and vanished.
Then he walked into the room, said the beds looked nice and then vanished.
Then it was back to going up the detour stairs and he vanishes at the first turn.
This was 3 attempts in 1 day.
I have had this quest NOT bug out ONCE.

My best one was where I could tell he seemed kind of bugged, but he was heading in the right direction so I kept going. He gets out to where he can jump on the horse, and the horse spawns for him. He stands there for a minute, and WALKS BACK IN the castle and THEN starts the entire thing like the first part never happened. And after that it worked ok. Seemed like he headed out the front door after a mob and couldn't find it so he went back inside.
Blunderwear Mar 1st 2011 10:29PM
I guess they decided they couldn't fix that quest. The gnome would always behave oddly; run different ways, just decide to run off into the distance, despawn for no reason; not to mention change costume and hairstyles spontaneously upon talking to him.
Of course, perhaps the most infuriating part of that bugged quest was that the HUGE EXIT IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIS FACE.
I would have preferred rescuing the night elf damsels, anyway.
Kurash Mar 2nd 2011 12:40AM
"That big gate out front couldn't possibly be the exit. Quick! Let's check the stairway that goes upstairs. There's sure to be an exit there!" :)
Surgeon Mar 2nd 2011 1:22AM
Or how about the fact that I found the way in to him...shouldn't he be following me? I know the frigging way out!
KaywinnitLee Mar 1st 2011 10:30PM
Yay, they might fix Commander Derp!
arcaniadia6 Mar 1st 2011 10:34PM
FINALLY, that stupid freaking quest was the death of me. If the damned Druid wasnt running to the end of the escort then leashing back to the beggining and then bugging out, or just standing still, or fighting every mob in the 1 mile radius, my dailies would be finished 50% much faster. Now that Drake will be much less of a chore.
Sonnenwende Mar 1st 2011 10:35PM
I tried Walk a mile in their shoes yesterday for the first time. I had avoided Tol Barad while I was grinding dailies for all the other cata factions. The one time I tried it, it was completely bugged. The only way to get him to leave the building was to attack mobs and have him charge in to help. Then he would run back in the building in the direction of the jail cell and just stand there in the doorway. After a while, I checked wowhead, saw that many others were having problems with it, so I just gave up on it
arcaniadia6 Mar 1st 2011 10:36PM
@Blunderwear ahaha that might be the best part of it. It's like, why the HELL ARE YOU GOING TO THE DAMNED STAIRS WHEN YOU CAN SEE THE OUTSIDE RIGHT THERE.
It's no surprise that idiot was captured in the first place.
cygnus Mar 2nd 2011 12:28AM
The first time I did it, I actually reread the quest to see if the rescueƩ was mentally challenged or plain retarded.
Helston Mar 2nd 2011 5:35AM
It's also no surprise that he manages to get re-captured every few days.
Satellite Mar 2nd 2011 2:50PM
Not to mention that the cell door was open all the time.
utzyr Mar 1st 2011 11:24PM
Execute the Farson Hold Prisoner!
Kylenne Mar 2nd 2011 3:12AM
I hope that idiot Tauren's the next loot piƱata added to Baradin Hold in 4.1.
