Welcome to The Deadmines was the winner for the Rise to Power contest last year. This video is also one of Kelly Aarons's top favorites. Specifically, she says, "If you hate this charming, Disney-esque intro to the new heroic Deadmines, then you have no soul."
This video by Xcross is actually incredibly nostalgic. With most of these characters either dead or radically changed, it's just not the same. I still memorialize Mr. Smite every time I get near the boat, shouting, "You landlubbers are tougher than I thought! I'll have to improvise!" Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
This video used to make me really happy for the new Deadmines coming out for Cataclysm. But now, after having done the new one, and seeing this again, I get a regretful sense of nostalgia for what once was. While the new Deadmines is great and everything, I don't think it can ever be what it once was... and for that, I feel a little sad. :c
but every time i get the deadmines pop up un dungeonfinder i feel a bit sorry, not because of the length or the theoretical difficulty wtill wiping some pug groups, but because i have to slay the enemies of my enemies :'(
Because they're doing a semi-retrospective, with all the wow-insiders staffs favourite machinimas.

Ah, I remember when I first saw this it had me all excited about the new Deadmines.
I do like the new incarnation but, dang, I'd really hoped we'd see those old faces in there. I guess we can just hope that, after his performance in the video, Mr. Smite retired from piracy and went on to an opera career.
Smite? He's on some fancy cruise ship, now. Spends the day playing cards and shuffle board, and sings for a live band in the 1st class dinner hall from 5 to 7.
This is probably my favorite machinema ever made, right up there with BLIND. FYI, Percula should do another one. Alternatively, Percula and Irdeen should team up and make a video.

When watching it again, I found it sad with the lyrics '"Now buffed to the 80's!", and every single one of them except one was killed.
While I like the new stuff put into the Deadmines, I will always miss VanCleef and the rest, especially Mr. Smite.

I too miss the original content. The new version just doesn't hold the same appeal to me.

I couldn't even make it past the gnome voices.
*shudder*

So you stopped the video before it even really started? Oh yeah, TOTALLY reasonable.
Your loss anyway, this is one of my absolute favorite machinima pieces. Right up there with "Boom De Yada WoW".

I recall that the person who made this was like 17 or something?
Drakkenfyre Mar 2nd 2011 12:14PM
The guy who wrote the song was 14.

Unfortunately the lyrics reflect that :/
It's very good for his age, but the rhythm was quite jarring in places..

Now he's 15, but yeah, Irdeen's a kid from Sweden.

Also, I uploaded the instrumental version of this song to Youtube.

This video was kind of fun..the first time wowinsider posted it as an article.
It seems like there has been a lot of repeat videos lately.

This is one of the like 2-3 wow movies I've ever liked. Another is I've been everywhere, man.
