Patch 4.1 PTR patch notes update for March 3

- Efflorescence has been redesigned. It creates a healing zone at the feet of a Swiftmend target, but this healing zone now restores health equal to 4/8/12% of the amount healed by Swiftmend to the three most injured targets within 8 yards, every 1 second for 7 seconds. This periodic effect now also benefits from spell haste, but the individual ticks cannot be critical effects.
- Spirit Link Totem (new talent) reduces damage taken by all party and raid members within 10 yards by 10%. This lasts 6 seconds, and every second it is active, the health of all affected players is redistributed among them such that each player ends up with the same percentage of their maximum health. This counts as an Air totem and has a 3-minute cooldown.
- The current healing priest 4-piece raid set bonus no longer requires a target to be under the effects of Weakened Soul for the priest to receive the Spirit bonus. Instead, the benefit will be granted each time the priest's Penance spell heals a target.

Wait.... what? You mean it ~didn't~ have a facing requirement?
...
Oh well. I guess i'm ready for this change, then. Not that it's a change for me...

I blame Firefox. I can't spell and it guessed the wrong word.

"Feral Swiftness now also causes Dash and Stampeding Roar to have a 50/100% chance to instantly remove all movement impairing effects from the affected targets when used."
Yum.

They take away and sort of give it back on a cooldown.

Didn't someone ask on The Queue whether we even needed a raid in 4.1 like 2 days ago? We need to get that person to tell us the winning lottery numbers.
also, /sigh at the AoE buffs. Here we go again.
Skrotus Mar 4th 2011 12:30AM
I don't understand, what does this minor update to early PTR patch notes have to do with the need or lack thereof of new raid/s in 4.1?
Imnick Mar 4th 2011 6:58AM
There isn't a raid in 4.1
That's what it has to do with it I guess?
Although there is a more appropriate article to post it in I believe

restodr00d Mar 3rd 2011 11:13PM

It proves that Warriors are going to get Cat Form next patch. Priest Form as well :p
Tejayes Mar 3rd 2011 11:31PM
So, the heal priest gear set works for Penance instead of Weakened Soul, Shamans are getting a pretty cool AoE damage reducer, priests are getting theirs nerfed alongside the continuing nerfs to the regular shield, and Atonement is becoming that much more awesome with the buffing of Holy Fire.
Looks like Blizzard is slowly transforming Discipline from a shielding/prevention specialization to healing through DPS. Honestly, I'd welcome that change. With the past changes simply turning us into weaker Holy priests, not to mention the homogenization of healing as a whole, it's nice to know we'll have something interesting the others don't.
At least until they change that to make everyone the same...
WildYaks Mar 4th 2011 8:24AM
I'm getting that impression as well, Tejayes. Disc priests are almost becoming Paladins from other MMO titles...boosting our healing through our offensive skills. We're just lacking the plate armor.
Cory Mar 3rd 2011 11:35PM
I see what u did there blizz....
your waiting until our anticipation builds to show the mage love
Andrew Mar 4th 2011 4:17AM
If the warlocks got these buffs after waiting as long as they did, just imagine what we'll get if we have to wait LONGER!
...or they might delete the class. It's hard to read Blizz these days.
Biskit333 Mar 3rd 2011 11:35PM
Wow the new totem looks like it is going to be really interesting. I think they should buff it to 12 or 15 yards though, not for the sake of making it better but so that it is in line with chain heal and the like. They usually tune things so that boss abilities are 10 yards and other close aoes are 12 so that people can still benefit from them while spreading out. I can see it being particularly good combined with healing rain and chain heal. It essentially allows you to use aoe heals to heal the tank during high damage phases and provide a health buffer to prevent tank death. I also like that it seems other healing classes will take advantage of the totem as well. Someone will need to do the math regarding the most effective way to use this totem during high single target and aoe damage phases.

The range as it is might actually make Totemic Reach worth picking up.
Diablo Mar 4th 2011 12:40AM
Are there any rare buffs? Like one with a much longer cooldown than effect, maybe a 60min cooldown for a 30 or 15 min buff, but a good powerful one.
Diablo Mar 4th 2011 12:41AM
also maybe a one-cast buff type where it can always be cast but only on one target at a time. Casting a new one cancels the old one.
Snuggles Mar 4th 2011 2:36AM
One cast buffs, as you describe them, would include Focus Magic from mages and the warlock equivalent. Soulstone is also a one shot "buff" with a cd (15 min iirc).
