According to a statement from Blizzard
on Eurogamer, patch 4.1 will not contain Firelands and the associated raid content. Lead producer J. Allen Brack cited the fact that players hadn't sufficiently progressed through the current tier of raid content as the reason for this decision. Eurogamer provides the quote: "We feel like the player base isn't really ready for the next raid yet," [Brack] said. "And that led to some changes where Firelands is now actually going to be in 4.2."
This is a step toward much smaller (and faster) content patches, much as we had back in vanilla
WoW. Blizzard could release a small set of features far more rapidly than the current "monolithic" patches. Firelands and its associated raid content will now be included in patch 4.2.
Patch 4.1 will entirely focus on the return of Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub.

I'd much rather see 4.1 come out in the next few weeks than wait a couple months for 4.1 + firelands. It puts new content in at a more steady rate.
While the massive patches were nice, i'd rather see smaller more common patches, sort of like vanilla with a 2-3 months between patches vs ~5 months between

You're both right. It's going to depend greatly on how well Blizzard works the timeline on this.

Glad to hear. Our guild has only downed Halfus and Magma at this point.
Sagacyte Mar 3rd 2011 8:56PM
I agree. My guild hasn't cleared all of the content yet, and I was a bit worried that a new raid was coming up.
Daedhir Mar 3rd 2011 10:06PM
Yup, we have Magmaw, Halfus and Omnitron. We could use some time in Tier 11.

I barely see anyone with 372 gear in my server.
I hope they don't introduce the next raid until most guilds have the current raid content on farm status.

Wow. No new raid... Not a good move imo.

I'd love for this to mean they're going to update Silithus and Arathi Highlands in some upcoming less than gigantic patch, since they'll have time for it since they made raids harder than they knew.
Lugo Mar 3rd 2011 9:11PM
Actually, it looks like they are adding a bunch of new quests to Silithus and Arathi! Hopefully these are just the first step towards a full revamp of the zones.

While it did feel like a lot of guilds (on my server anyway) hadn't progressed very far when 4.1 and Firelands was announced, I'm still not sure how I feel about this.
While tier 11 has been interesting, I haven't enjoyed it a whole lot. I was looking forward to a fresh tier.
Alas, perhaps this extra time will allow me to appreciate it more.

I don't like this. I'd rather wait for the raids to be ready and have one big content patch, then have little ones with bits here and there.

This.

Made me chuckle. Hopefully those who plan to QQ later in this thread will read this and not complain (that much).

Patch 4.1 was merely a setback.
Hal Mar 3rd 2011 9:16PM
No, wait . . . Firelands in 4.1?
TOO SOON, EXECUTUS!

I love you. And you and you and you. Not you, with the purple hair, I don't love you.
But seriously, this comment + replies made me laugh :P

so instead of nerfing encounters to allow the progression they are going to add to filler 5 mans that will allow people to get better gear to then clear the current raid content. good plan blizzard.
Tokhand Mar 3rd 2011 8:55PM
Yes- It is a great plan!
Instead of ruining the encounters that they designed for strategy and difficulty by reducing their difficulty, why not add new small stuff, with gear and difficulty equal to the big hard stuff? That way progression is still progression! No raid tiers are missed and there are no huge jumps in iLevel or difficulty!
Everybody wins! More people get access to the Cataclysm raids and can complete them before Tier 12! Players can actually get to where they want to be before they have to forget about all those places they couldn't before and certainly wouldn't be able to now! New, raid-difficulty 5-mans are released for real progression! Panther mounts! Bear Mounts! Exclamation points!
