Breakfast Topic: Is there a class you just can't play?

I have a lot of alts. They aren't all high-level, but over a number of servers, I have at least two of most classes, three warlocks, three priests, and a veritable army of death knights (come on, who didn't go on a massive DK creation spree the minute we were able?), many of which I've actually played for 10 or more levels. I even dragged my rogue -- one of the toughest classes for me to play -- up to level 80 because I was duoing with my girlfriend's paladin. There's one class, however, that I just can't stand playing: the warrior.
I made my first warrior, a human, because I was impressed by warrior tanks and wanted to see what the class was all about. I'm generally better with casters than melee to begin with, but I can handle my druid's feral spec reasonably well, so I figured what the heck. After five levels, I stripped off the warrior's armor, vendored his sword, put him in a tuxedo and made him my bank alt. I know, I know, it was only five levels, but I just couldn't handle it. Warriors and I do not click.
In Cataclysm, the class revamps made me wonder if I should try a warrior again. I deleted my bank alt, remade him as a worgen death knight, and rolled an adorable little goblin warrior in hopes that the starting zone would get me into the class. I have yet to log into that character. I just can't do it.
Is there a class or spec that you just can't handle playing? What is it about the class that gets to you? Have you tried it just once, or many times?

I have a 70 horde warrior and a 30-something alliance warrior, plus numerous previous attempts at warrior alts and I still hate the rage mechanic. (My druids are either kitty or resto only)

tauren warrior was my first character... still one of my favorite classes to play
with that heal on victory rush makes them so much better

Depending on when you last tried warrior, you should give it another chance. The new talent system helps the class a lot early on as well as key soloing abilities like Victory Rush becoming available sooner.

Yup definitely try rolling a worgen warrior. I was in the same situation and my main bank alt is still a level 5 warrior but I made an alt of every other class in the game and got bored. I didn't have a worsen yet and a savage beast pummeling faces in with two two-handed weapons just seemed so right. The sprint comes in handy, the arms playstyle while leveling is pretty fun(no way I'm letting my worsen use two puny one-handers) and prot does insane aoe when gathering up mobs. I made it to 60 in just three days and it was a blast

My biggest difficulty is with Prot warriors, feral(bear) druids are not that difficult to manage rage and aggro, however once I try the same instances(druid and warr are near the same lvl) on my warrior, I fail utterly. Something about having to manage both weapon AND shield attacks leave me with hold only 1 mob, or no mobs, its really frustrating. With every other class/spec I can get the hang of it fairly quickly, or if it is a bit difficult, I will eventually find a way to make it work, but ive had my warrior for over a year now, and still cant figure out his prot spec.

You guys are crazy. Not really, but I can't relate--warriors are my face class.
@Tor: It's not so much shield vs. sword but single vs. AoE leveling, priority will be Rend debuff > TC > Cleave > S. Slam.
Me, I can't stand to play most DPS classes. Not as fun as tanking, and the queue times suck.

I just made a warrior and have gone to late 40s without even blinking. Amazing. It's the only class that's ever clicked with me as much as my main (priest) and I have no idea why it took me so long!
What can't I play? Rogue, warlock, shaman.

While my tauren warrior has seen a lot of down-points with me playing, and is currently the ONLY class I haven't gotten to 60, I actually don't mind the class.
I originally created him while my main server was down and, since my server was back up by the time I reaches level 6, he wound up abandoned (though not deleted) on that other server. He sat there for YEARS before I casually mentioned his existence to one of my closer friends. She suddenly decided it would be great fun to make a horde-side alt there, since I already had a toon there. Next thing I know, several of my friends had made horde alts there and we formed a guild. We had fun questing together and running dungeons as a guild. =)
It has been pretty quiet since Cataclysm, but that's to be expected. The only reason I HAVEN'T continued leveling him is because that would defeat the fun of leveling with my friends. He'll be ready and waiting for me when we return for more alt-tastic fun. =)

I was stuck on my warrior at around lvl 29 and getting my @ss kicked anytime I took on 2 mobs. I tried all 3 specs and got about the same result (I very possibly suck at being a warrior). However, when the shattering happened I gave him another try and with the buff to Victory rush and mortal strike I suddenly became supreme over multiple mobs. During the holiday event I would happily ride into packs of scourge and take their lovely charms. He is now doing the same in outland. Point being, things change from patch to patch. It never hurts to go back to a class and try it out again. You never know when some fix here or there will make it click for you and you can enjoy them when you previously have not :)

I really have a hard time playing a warlock. I made one, played it to 22, and it's been my bank alt for years. I don't know if it's because my main is a mage or what, but I just didn't care for it. Also, my priest. I have a very hard time playing my priest. I got her to 75 (I think), but it was a long slow grind, even after skipping from 38 to 60 with RaF.
Anathemys Mar 4th 2011 8:34AM
I'm the same with the priest. I really want one, though, and I'm pretty sure that the reason I could never level one before was because of the boring old world. Now that Cataclysm's out, there might be a chance... Only I can't decide on a race :(

Same here, I don't really do pets. I felt too dependent on the voidwalker around level 30. Other classes at level 30 I would just nuke stuff - warlocks cast times were too long and the curses damage ticked too slow.
It takes less time to frost shock something and kite it while killing it, then it does to send that slow pet over, put some dots up and then start a 3 second cast.

I actually found leveling a Warlock (Not Charlie Sheen) was one of the more fun classes to play. I tried Affliction because I thought it was the faster of the three specs and gave the best mobility. Try playing around with your spell priority.
Eskarel Mar 6th 2011 5:06AM
My main(to the extent that I have a main) is a warlock and I have the same problem with leveling a Mage. The classes are just different enough to be frustrating to players of the other.
I also had problems with priests and druids since they used to be so hard to start, but hat's improved a lot.
Stickeh Mar 4th 2011 8:08AM
Holy priest.
Don't know why but there just seems to be a gazillion buttons, all of which are actually useful, and I panic and before you know it....oh, we're dead.
Luna Mar 4th 2011 8:38AM
It seems that with priests, you either love them or hate them (playing them, I mean.) I know many people who can't stand to play a priest in any spec, and then people like me who adore their priest.
Personally, I think Paladins are the one class I will never play.
Jonisjalopy Mar 4th 2011 3:19PM
SO very true. I wouldn't trade my Holy Priest for any other healer in the game :)
Swifteye Mar 4th 2011 3:27PM
I agree with both Stickeh and Luna. I *love* playing my Disc Priest, but I've tried dabbling in Holy and it just... well... I told one of my guildies that it essentially feels like trying to play Disc only with a few of my fingers randomly lopped off, and I stand by that to this day.
Disc has a ton of spells too, but they really feel tight, intuitive and completely in control. To me, Holy just feels like you're spewing out huge Care Bear Stare-ish rays of heals and just hoping that some of them happen to hit the right people.
I have nothing against the players of Holy Priests, I like your Lightwell and I respect the heck outta y'all, just... that's what it feels like to me personally, and that's why, while I'll always love Priests as a whole, I will never like playing a Holy one.
JustinScott Mar 4th 2011 8:07AM
Druids...I just can't play them. I've tried with all the different races, but can't get one past level 12.
MattKrotzer Mar 4th 2011 8:59AM
Right there with ya.
