Breakfast Topic: Where do you play World of Warcraft?
This Breakfast Topic has been brought to you by Seed, the Aol guest writer program that brings your words to WoW Insider's pages.
A favorite WoW-related comic strip of mine recently had the characters playing WoW in a bar, which was quite a foreign idea to me. First of all, my computer is a desktop system, so it's pretty much limited to its spare-bedroom, crowded desk space, which is shared with my husband. In fact, I sit in front of the desk drawers. It's not the most comfortable raiding location, to be honest.
Not having a laptop with gaming abilities, I'm not that familiar with wifi. I didn't even know bars offered wifi; I assumed you had to go coffee shops with Moby Dick themes for that. It piqued my curiosity, to say the least.
What's your computer setup like, fellow Azerothians? Is it a crowded desk that you share? Do you have your own L-shaped desk with all the room in the world?
Furthermore, what's the craziest place you logged in to WoW from? Have you set up a LAN party with all your friends on your dining room table? Or do you quest in coffee shops and bars on a general basis?

Unless Scullion WAS the stripper, pwning face backstage between sets. Which would be even better.

At work on my laptop using my smartphone as a modem.

Oh yea, I use the razer saga mouse with the 12 keys. Tanking has never been easier :D

I work the slow shift in a coffee house. While my co-worker is on FaceBook doing... stupid spam games, I'm on my laptop working on my Goblin Priest. Before I started working on her at work she was like... 15-20. As of yesterday she's 53 and climbing fast! I've decided not to do any dungeons though at work, cause with my luck as soon as I get in one I'd have someone drive into the DT and wipe. :(

If they wipe in the drive-thru, I'd call the cops for a breath test ;)

Though I play on a laptop, I don't actually take it to any public locations. I just play at home.
For a long time, I played on the couch with the computer balanced on my knees and the mousepad on the seat beside me elevated with some books. That was fine for questing, but once I started trying to tank it was too precarious, so I moved to the dining room table... I don't have a real desk, but fortunately my household is full of the "eat in front of the TV" generation, so our dining table is hardly ever used otherwise anyway.
I do play WoW when I go on vacation to visit my parents out-of-state once or twice a year. I usually just perch on the edge of the bed and put the laptop and mouse on a collapsable tray table on those trips, since my parents are kinda disorganized and counter/table/desk space is at a premium (read: almost always completely buried), heh.

Haha this sounds like me... Sit on my bed with my back to the headboard, laptop on my legs and a shoebox sitting beside me for my mouse.

That's what I do too, ever since I got my laptop. Right now, pretty much the only place I ever play is in my dorm room, I barely even move my laptop from my desk.

I play my laptop on the couch, with a little folding table for my mouse.
(sort of like this, http://www.ikea.com/us/en/images/products/bollo-folding-table-brown-acacia__0091463_PE227130_S4.JPG, but smaller and cheaper).
That being said: I find it the most comfortable place for me to do anything... I do my design work on the couch, I play WoW on the couch, watch random videos on the couch, etc... I don't have an office space set up, so no desk+swivel chair, and that leaves me with very few options outside of couch or dining room table.
Nipah Mar 5th 2011 8:50PM
Ah, forgot to mention: I'm sitting sideways on the couch, legs propped up on the other cushions... so the mouse stand is on the floor, between my couch and coffee table, with the TV (which I seldom have on anymore) at a 30degree angle. Optimum entertainment position.

I play WoW in my man cave - small office in my basement. I have an Alienware desktop, 20" wide screen monitor, Steelseries WoW Cataclysm keyboard, & surround sound speakers. Right hand is on a Steelseries WoW Cataclysm gaming mouse, left hand on a Nostromo N52-TE mini-keyboard. Oh yes, it's a sweet setup. I have a gaming laptop and I try to play on the road in hotels (I travel a lot for work). I think the strangest place I've tried to play is in a Starbucks. Didn't work so well, but I tried.

I love my basement man-cave, though remember monitors never get too large for a reason. I hooked my desktop up to the 50" Quattron TV once; fun for questing and the occasional dungeon, information overload for raids and battlegrounds. Looked pretty though.

I would just like to say thank you @Cal. You stopped WoW (which is fine) and started playing Rift (also fine), but you weren't an ass about it and you also were upvoted.
Yay for MMO players enjoying their games in peace and harmony.
Except for Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Butters wont stop ganking me in that fucking game.

MacBook Pro here! I play wherever I want! :-) As long as I have wifi, I am good to go. That said, switching from the desktop to a laptop was an adjustment. I no longer play with a mouse so hotkeys, keyboard layout etc... are very important. I am a healer so most add-ons are based around a mouse. Took some getting used to but I don't feel nerfed anymore.

Same here. My whole UI is based around a laptop and keeping 'mouse' movements to a minimum. I'm on the road a lot so hotels, airports, Starbucks and really anywhere they have reliable wifi is my home. Fondest memory is my guild buddies screaming over vent when they got a particularly memorable achievement whilst I was sat in the Continental Lounge in Newark. I now mute to avoid the odd looks.
Bart Mar 5th 2011 8:15AM
At home...not very crazy I know.
Nidaba Mar 5th 2011 8:16AM
I normally play comfortably at home, cut off from the real world! When I was a student I used to play on a laptop in the SU bar though. I stopped doing that when my boyfriend decided to watch some... questionable movies on the laptop, the most audible part of which coincided with a sudden drop in the music volume in the bar. Occasionally I would play in a cafe near my university as well, but once the UK smoking ban came in it ended my bar/restaurant/Happy Meal WoW playing days!
