WRUP: Hey, pretty lady. Nice ... jewelry.

Another weekend, another edition of WRUP. Despite the belief that WoW Insider writers should spend their days and nights doing absolutely nothing but playing WoW, nourishing ourselves on virtual water and biscuits, we do enjoy playing other games. That's our bonus question this week: what's a major game release you're looking forward to this year?
Alex Ziebart (@AlexZiebart): I think it's more or less safe for me to slip away from the PTR's icy grip and focus on my alts on live realms again. I'm really digging healing on my priest, which is madness considering I essentially ragequit playing a priest a couple years ago because the class started to drive me nuts, healing and shadow both. I know it's akin to sacrilege to say so these days, but I'm really enjoying healing in Cataclysm. No, my dear raid, that doesn't mean you can talk me out of playing retribution full time! I'll also likely be doing some writing on one of my other sites and possibly recording its accompanying podcast.
Mass Effect 3 is what I'm looking forward to the most, but it's so far away I try to push it out of my mind lest I go insane. The non-WoW game I'll be picking up next is Dragon Age II. I'm still trying to figure out a believable excuse so I can get its release day off here at WoW Insider. Suggestions, anybody?
Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey): I'll be writing, raiding a bit on Sunday, and attempting to make my closet into something that is organized. Yeah ... that's gonna work.
Basil Berntsen (@outdps): I'm playing WoW. Bonus answer: none. If I ever quit WoW, I'm more likely to take up some non-video game hobby. Until then, no games are nearly as large as WoW, and the whole point of an MMO is the other people who play it.
Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb): Actually, I'm going to be horribly busy IRL this weekend, so I'll be lucky to get my fishing and cooking dailies done in game. As far as future releases, count me in for Dragon Age 2. I was all ready to be really skeptical about it after how horrible all the DA:O DLC was, but the demo's got me hooked. Pirate queens and hotblooded templar ladies get me every time.
Dawn Moore (@dawnwow): I'll be writing, compiling a heroic Nefarian strategy for next week's raid (also making some sacrifices to the raiding gods), and recording a new, not-lost-to-a-critical-error "best episode of the Circle of Healing Podcast ever" on Sunday. Also making an attempt to do my dailies for once. There isn't a game I'm looking forward in the next few months, sadly. Plus I still need to buy Kirby's Epic Yarn!
Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives): Working, leveling my shaman, and maybe some Dragon Quest whateverthenewestoneis on the DS. Bonus answer: L.A. Noire, although my fiancé and I are already arguing over who gets to play it first.
Joe Perez (@Lodurzj): Working some OT, hitting the PTR and plotting for some epic raid time on Monday. Still adjusting to my new home on Ner'Zhul and plan to harass Matt Low, or as I like to refer to him, Russelcus as much as I can, mostly cause it's super-fun.
Non-WoW game I'm looking forward to? Honestly I'm really looking forward to playing Dragon Age 2. I loved the first game, and the demo makes it seem like it's going to be fun. Also I like the idea of playing through stories about your character as told by outside observers. Could lead to some very interesting story telling.
Lisa Poisso (@emused): Hopefully, feeling less like a limp noodle and more like running all the heroics I've been missing for a week now. Bonus question: No time for other games -- I'm re-reading Game of Thrones in preparation for April 17, baby!
Matt Low (@matticus): I'll be busy this weekend trolling the new troll instances like Zul'Aman. For the bonus question: I need a new FPS fix. The latest ones have been rather lackluster lately. Can't wait to see what Homefront has to offer.
Mathew McCurley (@gomatgo): Getting home from GDC. Writing lots and probably turning on the webcam to talk about my conversation with Tom Chilton and my trip.
Matthew Rossi (@MatthewWRossi): My little guild cleared two more bosses this week, so I'll be celebrating that while also trying to get my alt geared up for weekend alt raiding. I will also be writing short fiction for my site and continuing to serialize my novel there.
I'm looking forward to Dragon Age 2, which I will be playing obsessively.
Michael Gray (@writegray): Mending a fence, and probably running lots and lots of heroics. I'm also getting the Dark Puppy involved in Flyball as an outlet for her massive amounts of energy. (Without this kind of distraction, she'll inevitably bomb my house with plague weapons. I'm just saying.)
Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel): I'll be working on Roblinator's skinning/leatherworking some more while still remaining in the low 20s for Monday's dungeon run (join me). We also have a kiddie birthday party to go to and I've got more Doctor Who to watch while knitting socks and drinking bourbon. I'm midway through Season 4. No spoilers!

@ Basil
Same here. WoW is the only serious video game I play. By serious I mean like non-arcade games that are free and that you can play on a website. If I were to quit WoW or WoW ended, I'd probably dabble in other MMOs, try out other genres, or just find another hobby.

I have so many things competing for my attention that if anything ever made WoW stop being as awesome as it currently is for me, I'd immediately have 3 other things vying for the admittedly considerable amount of time I spend playing, writing about, and podcasting about it.

The Doctor di...I mean...lives.

My sister wants Kirby's Epic Yarn too for our Wii. We still need to complete Super Mario Bro's Galaxy 2 though.

Maybe it's a bit early, but it's curious that nobody above even mentioned Diablo III...

I've been playing Knights of the Old Republic again, to hold me over until Tuesday (woooooooo DA2). And now I'm reminded of why I loved Shale so much in the first Dragon Age, she's just HK-47 in medieval times.

What? No one said Batman: Arkham City?
Grokmar Mar 5th 2011 2:23PM
Also: A Dance with Dragons will be out on July 12th! /happy dance

Batman: Arkham City is not just a game.... it's a future addiction and future collectors edition! (last appearance of Mark Hamil as the voice of the joker!)

Looking forward to A Dance with Dragons.
Not looking forward to forward to another 6 year wait for The Winds of Winter.
Most definately not looking forward to A Dream of Spring written by Joe R R Martin based on his father's notes.

Very excited for "A Dance with Dragons", and the new Dresden Files book comes out in that same month! I never told people at my work that I took time off in December for Cataclysm, wonder what they'd think if I told them I needed most of July off to read...
..eh, they know me well enough, they probably wouldn't even blink.
@ Jack Mynock: Mr. Martin has said that, thanks to moving stuff around, he already has over 100 pages of "Winter" done. So there's that. And as far as I know, he has no children, and I've heard he keeps his story notes where no one will find them or something. So if he dies, it's over. But he's only 60 or so.

Screw Arkham City, awesome as it may be, WHY HASN'T A SINGLE PERSON SAID SKYRIM??
I mean, SERIOUSLY, what was the world coming to???????
:O
Socialcockroach Mar 5th 2011 10:20PM
@Deathknighty This. A thousand times! They should also feel ashamed that not one of them mention Portal 2 which is comming out only next month. Fine, I guess they just wont get to have any of the cake.
Jack Mynock Mar 5th 2011 11:41PM
@musedmoose
He also said that Dance would be out the year following Feast, and 100 manuscript pages is very little in a book that will likely be 800+ pages in print. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan, and I'd love nothing more than for GRRM to finish the series, but unless he ups the pace after this long delay, the likelyhood of its completion is grim.
I wasn't really serious about his "son" finishing it, though maybe I should've included Kevin J. Anderson as cowriter... It's just that there is a storied tradition of the sons of great Science Fiction/ Fantasy writers "finishing" their late fathers' incomplete series. Dune, Wheel of Time, Silmarillion, etc.

I knew it! The woman on the right is really Shanelle from RuPaul's Drag Race!

So no one is into Rift? ;P
Tokkar Mar 5th 2011 4:02PM
Rift? Is that some kind of game?
Tri Mar 6th 2011 4:34AM
Heh.. I've seen some of those "let's play Rift" vids on youtube. And it looks really boring :O
