Valor point conversion, arena season 10 delayed until patch 4.2

This, of course, makes sense. The new gear coming out of Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub won't be a completely new tier but will instead be item level 353, leaving the item level 359, 372, and 379 stuff coming out of the current raids as the supreme goal. With this in mind, bypassing raid content by making new valor point gear or a new level of arena gear would sort of throw game balance and content a bit out out of whack.
Patch 4.2 will supposedly be on the PTR soon after patch 4.1 launches, so hopefully everyone chomping at the bit for a new arena season or new stuff to save up valor points for won't have to wait too long.

Champing at the bit, not chomping.
Trem Mar 7th 2011 8:06PM
He had it right the first time actually.
Kaphik Mar 7th 2011 8:46PM
Actually, no, it IS "champing at the bit". If you want to write it correctly, of course.
Saeadame Mar 7th 2011 10:18PM
As far as I can tell, they both mean "to chew noisily", so either can be used. Chomp is probably just a variation of the original saying, but seeing as the verbs mean the same thing, it doesn't really matter, it's just a dialect difference (eg, in my dialect of English, I would also probably spell it "chomp").
It's not like "irregardless" or something like that, where the alternative either means absolutely nothing or potentially the opposite of what people are using it to mean.
Saeadame Mar 7th 2011 10:19PM
...I think that last sentence makes it sound like I'm saying "regardless" isn't a real word, rather than irregardless. Oh well, you know what I mean.

From answers.com:
""Champing" is the original form -- it is still currently endorsed as the only correct form by the Associated Press and others; "chomping" may be considered "correct" now because of its over-misuse."
Aaron Mar 8th 2011 8:43AM
That's actually kind of cool. I'd always heard chomping as well.
Jenks Mar 8th 2011 9:51AM
Is champ a British thing? In America I've never heard it used in that context, only as slang for champion... the use Goblins seem to be fond of.
Elmouth Mar 8th 2011 10:56AM
Oh wow, season 10 delayed, it's like they're trying to toss the playerbase at Rift or something...

There's actually a difference in meaning between champing & chomping.
Chomping just means chewing. A cow lazily chewing it's cud could be considered Chomping.
Champing implies anxiousness or impatience. A horse anxiously waiting to get out of his stall might be Champing.
Which one sounds more like a gamer waiting for the next content patch for their favorite game? :-)

Psst, you made a slight mistake.
The conversion is from valor points to justice points, not to honor points.
THAT'S A LOW PRICE Mar 7th 2011 8:07PM
Where do the iLvl numbers come from? They seem like a very odd assortment.
Is there an iLvl 334 or just 333 (and so on)
Task Mar 7th 2011 8:21PM
@That's a low price
It's tallied by 6 and 7, or 13 points respectively, ie. Wrath Naxx gear dropped 200 ilevel gear in 10 man but KT dropped 213. 25 man dropped 219 level and KT dropped 226. Hope that makes sense.
And there is no 334, just 333, 346, 353, 359 etc.
(This was meant to be a reply to the person if it doesn't show properly.)
Shiro Mar 7th 2011 8:28PM
I tried to comment to him, but it didn't work either.
Full "Tiers" are 13 and half tiers are 6.
redfoxm18 Mar 7th 2011 8:30PM
Actually 25m dropped 213 in naxx on all bosses except for KT with his 226 gear.

Never understood why people are so eager to play on PTR.
Doesn't that take the thrill off patch day?
Necromann Mar 7th 2011 10:16PM
People play on it to test for bugs and to get practice on the new raid content.
SamLowry Mar 8th 2011 12:10AM
Why bother testing for bugs? A blue said they don't pay attention to the feedback, so apparently it's just there for free publicity.
Ice Mar 8th 2011 4:07AM
Bugs =/= class balance issues.
Major/gamebreakingly horribly huge bugs = they will fix them when they get reported of it (mostly with priority list so some might stay to live if they come up too late on ptr and no time to fix them).
Class balance issues/changes = WE REQUIRE MORE MINERALS(read: data).
As for why people go to PTR for? couple things:
-"Free (epics) and premade zomg!" (which is btw false because they are only heroic geared now after they pulled firelands off..)
-Go duel someone, "pwn premade noob", hit training dummy for huge dps. Log off until live. (the amount of "How do I make recount to work on PTR??" on trade is immense.)
-To actually test things
2 of those are majority, 1 (to test things) is minority. No wonder they need more data.

I'd say arena season 11 is more like patch 4.4 since we're currently only in season 9.
